This is a sequel to the third season episode Point Doom (1992). Although Nicole Eggert did not appear in that episode, Summer claims Jessie "looks familiar," indicating the two characters may have had an off-screen meeting.
When Mitch is at home playing with his guitar, he has a fantasy that he is a rock star and imagines that he is performing in concert in front of a crowd. For the fantasy sequence, a montage footage of David Hasslehoff (Mitch) performing live on stage in Berlin and Germany was used. In real life, David Hasslehoff was a singer whom was highly popular in Germany and Austria.
In a way, the footage of David Hasselhoff's European music tour, which is supposedly Mitch having a rock star daydream, was a chance for the actor to "prove" or at least to showcase that he did, in fact, have another career with a large audience for his singing. While popular in Germany, his music never went down in America. In fact, it became a kind of pop culture reference that he was a music star in Germany, much like how "the French love Jerry Lewis."
Jennifer Campbell, in her second Baywatch episode as Jessie, would return for four more episodes but as a different character, Neely Capshaw.
