This episode aired six days before the premiere of The Beverly Hillbillies (1962), which gave co-star Raymond Bailey his most famous role as Milburn Drysdale.
Danny (Nick Dennis) wears what appears to be a "Milwaukee Brace" throughout the episode. These medical devices were worn to prevent collapse of the spine and associated pain and deformity. It is a full-torso brace that extends from the pelvis to the base of the skull. It was originally designed by Blount and Schmidt in 1946 for postoperative care when surgery required long periods of immobilization. They were also prescribed to children who had been diagnosed with scoliosis, a disease that results in curvature of the spine.
The first hour-long episode after seven seasons of half-hours. In his introduction, Hitchcock makes no mention of this fact; however, he has switched from a regular necktie to a bowtie, which he continued to wear for the duration of the series.
Martha Hyer (Alice Marsden) wears the same distinctive hairstyle Kim Novak wore in Hitchcock's Vertigo (1958).
This was a remake of "Street of Chance" (1930) starring William Powell.
