It’s the stock answer that many a happy long-term couple has given prying friends and relatives to explain why they haven’t married: “We don’t need a piece of paper to prove our love.” True enough. What can official documents tell you of something as wily and elusive as human desire? Is a band of gold a safeguard against a change of heart? Of course not, yet millions want it anyway, a ratification of feelings that might otherwise seem slippery or intangible from the outside. In “Fingernails,” a quietly searching and yearning science-fiction romance from Greek director Christos Nikou, the piece of paper in question isn’t a marriage certificate but a printed test result: a mathematical, machine-determined declaration that you and your partner are fully in love.
Sounds ludicrous, sure. But with a sly wit that doesn’t preclude its honest emotional intelligence, “Fingernails” invites us to...

Garbage have shared their Record Store Day EP Witness to Your Love on digital platforms. It’s highlighted by their version of Siouxsie and the Banshees’ 1986 classic “Cities in Dust.”
While remaining mostly true to the original, Garbage put a heavier emphasis on guitars and percussion as Shirley Manson puts her own spin on Siouxsie Sioux’s lyrics with soaring vocals. Stream the track and watch the video for the original version below.
“Cities in Dust” was the lead single for Siouxsie and the Banshees’ seventh studio album, Tinderbox. A previous cover of the song by Everlove was featured in a trailer for Season 4 of Game of Thrones.
Witness to Your Love includes the eponymous 2008 rarity along with two previously unreleased tracks from the sessions for Garbage’s 2021 album, No Gods, No Masters. Listen to the full EP below.

Exclusive: In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth…and while God was doing that, Timur Bekmambetov created the series iBible — which will be premiering its first five episodes at SXSW starting March 16.
iBible is a screenlife project from Bekmambetov which, as the title suggests, tells biblical stories through the screen of a smartphone via the various apps we interact with on a daily basis. The audience will be able to scroll through two-minute episodes that dive into a famous story from the Book of Genesis: Adam and Eve, Noah’s Ark, Cain and Abel, David and Goliath, Ten Commandments, among others. This would be perfect Quibi fodder… if the mobile platform still existed.
Josh Robert Thompson utilizes a Morgan Freeman impersonation to provide a voice to God as he uses a smartphone to create the universe. We don’t get to see the face of God, but we...

Winning Emmys is old hat for the Fox competition series “So You Think You Can Dance,” but it’s a brand new experience for Al Blackstone, who claimed Best Choreography for Variety or Reality Programming at the Creative Arts Awards on Saturday night, September 19. He won for three routines from the show’s 16th season, which aired last summer: “I’ll Be Seeing You,” “Mambo Italiano” and “The Girl from Ipanema.” Scroll down to watch his winning routines at the bottom of this post.

Lucifer is putting a very naughty spin on one of the Bible’s leading ladies.
Imposters actress Inbar Lavi has been cast to play Eve — of “Adam and Eve” fame, of course — in the Fox-turned-Netflix drama’s fourth season.
Per TV Insider, which first reported Lavi’s casting, Eve is described as “the original sinner herself” who has “grown restless in her marriage [to Adam] and longs for a less predictable time when things were exciting. Naughty. Dangerous.”
Eve also misses Lucifer, “her hot and heavy first love… the charming rogue who tempted her so many years ago.”

You’ve got to hand it to Lilith — Shadowhunters‘ new Big Bad sure knows how to make an entrance.
The “mother of all demons” made her presence known during Tuesday’s third season premiere, taking a moment to mourn Jonathan before literally raising hell in New York City. Her first stop was a hospital, where she complained to an unsuspecting doctor about her ex-husband Adam — wait, like, Adam of “Adam and Eve” fame? — whom she claims left her barren. “He tossed me aside, took everything that was rightfully mine. He cursed me.” (Talk about some fun flashback opportunities.)

What would you do if everything you owned was taken away from you for 21 days?
That’s the premise of Bravo’s new social experiment, Stripped. It’s like Naked and Afraid, but in your own home. Each week, a new household will take on the challenge of handing over everything they own -- including the clothes on their back. Each day, the participants can each retrieve one of their possessions from a storage unit. Et has your exclusive first look at the first such excursion made by the show’s first guinea pigs, married couple Justin and Ali.
“I don’t know how we’re going to make it to the storage container without being clothed,” Justin remarks. “This thing is a half mile away. So, we’re going to have to improvise.”

What I love most about international film festivals is the opportunity to discover rare gems and stimulating foreign indie flicks, which may otherwise get lost in the mainstream blockbuster shuffle. One of this year’s contenders is a compelling Brazilian slave drama, set in the isolated backlands of this lush country, in the early 19th century during its painfully colonial times. Vazante is tragic story of slave trader Antonio, who in the event of losing his wife in child labor marries his late wife’s 12-year-old niece.
While waiting for his child wife to mature and irritated by a lack of diamond production in the Diamante Mountains, Antonio is advised by one of his foremen to cultivate and farm his vast rugged land with his captive slaves. Isolation, fear, violence, betrayal and prejudice are all at the premise of this beautifully shot black and white film, with minimal dialogue and score.

Chicago – I’m not a gamer, but of course I’ve heard about “Assassin’s Creed.” The film based on the video game is a wild and undisciplined attempt to expand that particular universe, but does succeed in creating an oddball science fiction that has implications in geo-religious power and control.
Rating: 3.0/5.0
It is the combination of game and story that nearly does both sides in, but there is just enough to keep the intrigue intact. The high octane story from director Justin Kurzel – who used lead performers Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard in his adaptation of “Macbeth” in 2015 – manages a symbolic story about duality, technology and megalomania, while barely clinging to any of it making sense. There are crazy visuals, overwrought action and knocks on religion aplenty, which sets it apart both as a video game adaptation and creative use of a dystopian prophecy. Part Indiana Jones, part “Fail Safe” and all weird,...

So, Justin Bieber's penis hit the Internet yesterday... And yet the sun set and we all lived to talk about it today. But Twitter was temporarily swept away in a cataclysmic cloud of just not knowing what to do with the 21-year-old heartthrob's genitals making the rounds place once photos of him frolicking in the nude in Bora Bora were obtained by the New York Daily News. The Nydn of course did not post the pics without censoring Bieber's bits, but yet there it was, his uncensored junk right at the top of our Twitter feeds thanks to someone who presumably felt that he or she was doing God's work. Adam and Eve, you know? (Though even Adam is usually pictured with fig leaf...) Anyway, many of...

Only Lovers Left Alive (voted by Rick)
Only Lovers Left Alive, the latest film from cult indie director Jim Jarmusch, stars Tom Hiddleston and Tilda Swinton as Adam and Eve, two century old vampires. Adam is an underground musician with a dedicated cult following. In his past time, he drives through the city in his classic Jaguar, collects music memorabilia, photographs, books, vintage musical instruments and old vinyls. He lives in an isolated home in the ruins of Detroit Michigan where he reunites with his enigmatic lover Eve. There, he enlists the help of one of his most dedicated fans (Anton Yelchin) to help collect the analog equipment he needs, and his doctor (Jeffrey Wright) to provide him with a steady supply of his favourite drink, type O-negative. Immortality is weighing on him and thoughts of suicide slowly take over. Not much happens, and not much needs to.

People turns 40 this year, and we have to say, it's looking pretty good for having four decades in the spotlight. Just like any other cultural institution (the White House; The Peach Pit), the magazine has made more than a few appearances in TV and movies. Let's look at some of our favorites. Jeff Goldblum in The Big Chill Goldblum's performance as a sex-obsessed People journalist was dubbed "perhaps the Goldblummiest of Jeff Goldblum's early performances" by Slate. That said, it's not all that accurate. Not all People writers are self-loathing egomaniacs obsessed over their non-existent novel-writing careers. Just most of them - kidding!

Girls in the garden of Eden, kissing with confidence, bitcoin banter and Barack Obama between two ferns
Would you Adam and Eve it? Before Girls, there was Lena Dunham in a Biblical Movie that would tempt a laugh from the serpent himself. Girl is Lena's take on the life of Eve, a struggling 20-something in the Garden of Eden. As the first couple on earth, Adam and Eve would have shared the first kiss. Our next video features a first kiss between several couples who have never met before – and if that's a bit sloppy for you, check out video number three, a spoof on the first (ahem) "hands-on" loving.
Staying with the laughs, we've got Barack Obama plugging his healthcare website in a cringe-making interview with Zach Galifinakis and a hilarious explanation about bitcoins for the Conan O'Brien show. Kevin Bacon, star of The Following, lectures the millennium generation...

Naomie Harris became a global star as the Bond girl in Skyfall, but her biggest challenge yet has been playing the controversial figure of Nelson Mandela's wife in the new biopic. Luckily, she says, her co-star was Idris Elba…
The first time I met Naomie Harris was in 2010 in a noisy cafe in Portobello Road, London. I thought then that she was the sort of girl you would have wanted to make your best friend if you had met her at school: warm, talkative, not at all puffed up and not dressed up either. I don't remember what she wore but it wasn't aiming to be memorable. The cafe was noisy so she suggested we talk in her nearby flat. She was best known then for her role in Pirates of the Caribbean and for television dramas (Clara in White Teeth, Hortense in Small Island). She was about to pull into the fast lane,...

What makes a great title sequence? There are numerous shows with fantastic theme songs (Red Dwarf), evolving sequences (Fringe), handy introductions to the show (Once Upon A Time) or humour (Futurama). But for a truly great title sequence, all these things have to come together with an added splash of sheer invention and creativity, resulting in a sequence that perfectly expresses the spirit of the show (preferably without inducing headaches or nausea – Homeland has a brilliantly inventive title sequence that, unfortunately, can be physically uncomfortable to watch). Any sequence that simply shows clips of the actors in character, no matter how well acted or artistically put together, will not make the cut here.

The big screen adapation of John Milton’s epic poem “Paradise Lost” appears to be rounding out its cast in a big (and fast) way. Alex Proyas‘s film already has Bradley Cooper and Ben Walker (soon to be seen as Honest Abe in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) set to square off as the archangels Lucifer and Michael, with Djimon Hounsou on board as Abdiel (the angel of death, for those of you unfamiliar with your angels). Now Variety reports that the film may have also locked in its Gabriel, Adam, and Eve. The outlet reports that Casey Affleck is in negotiations for the role of Gabriel. The archangel is traditionally the one who communicates with humans and is sent from God to do so. He’s also the one who blows the trumpet that kicks off the end of time and the Last Judgment. He’s a fun dude! Jeff...

If you were ever worried about Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez fading away, a distant memory of 2011, fear no more: the teen stars have been immortalized in "Justin and Selena as One," a life-sized portrait from sculptor Daniel Edwards, the Dallas Observer reported on Tuesday.
"Justin and Selena as One," which the artist said will eventually be cast in bronze, depicts the teens almost completely nude, save for a Canadian maple leaf and Texas "lone star" concealing their respective nether regions. The portrait will be presented at New Fine Arts, an adult megastore in Dallas, at a later date.
Edwards explained the piece in a statement provided to HuffPost:
“Justin and Selena as One” features the ‘Adam and Eve’ couple conjoined at the torso, each seeming to emerge from the other’s rib. Together, they have three legs, sharing Selena’s right leg as she appears to lead the younger...

The phrase “Tmi” was invented for situations like these. Also, “My Eyes!” Because that was our reaction when we heard Us based artist Daniel Edwards had created a sculpture of Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez nude together. Can we please repeat this? Justin Bieber. Selena Gomez. Together. Naked. They’re supposed to be a 21st Century Adam and Eve. And just to up the ick factor, he’s called the piece. “Justin and Selena as One.” Seriously? And check this out, their most naughty bits have been covered by a Canadian maple leaf and a Texas lone star respectively.
It gets even more freaky. Right in front of the couple, he’s created a sculpture of a Canada goose — how should we say this politely — getting it on with a Texas armadillo. And in the best “explanation” we’ve heard, Edwards’ rep Cory Allen has said of the whole thing,...

The Internet was abuzz this week when controversial artist Daniel Edwards released his latest piece of art: a nude statue of Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez with the words "Justin & Selena Forever" inscribed at the base of the statue.
The bronze statue, called "Justin and Selena as One," plays on the idea of Adam and Eve, with Bieber wearing a strategically placed maple leaf and Gomez wearing a strategically placed Texas Lone Star — references to Justin's native Canada and Selena's home state. But Edwards told MTV News the images aren't meant to be provocative for the sake of being provocative.

Teen couple Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have gone naked in the name of art. Controversial sculptor Daniel Edwards has created a bronze metallic statue of the twosome almost entirely nude with only a Canadian Maple Leaf and a Texas Lone Star covering their intimate parts.
Titled "Justin and Selena as One", the life size portrait presents the "Baby" hitmaker and his songstress girlfriend as a 21st Century Adam and Eve. To be unveiled at Dallas' New Fine Arts, it features them conjoined at the torso with Selena appearing to lead Justin toward "Eden". In front of them are a Canada goose and Texas armadillo.

This week's "Lost," entitled "Lighthouse," was about as solid as a transitional episode could be for this final season. Every episode will likely provide answers or clues about major mysteries (actually, every episode has answers, it's just that they raise more questions, which irks some people but is kind of just the way life goes, kid), and if last week's "The Substitute" was a chance to really dig deeper into the Locke/Enemy story, this week's episode was a chance to push the pieces forward a little with the remaining survivors spread across the island. Plus we got to see Claire go wolfshit insane. Not a bad little hour of TV.

"Lighthouse" was the first episode of Lost's sixth season that posed more questions than answers. I'm totally cool with that (it is a mystery show, after all), but some of the facts not revealed felt like they could have been, and even felt deliberately left unanswered. Case in point: who is number 108? That's who Jacob wanted Hurley to turn the lighthouse mirrors to, before Jack decided to destroy them. I mean, even if Jack was in his own emotional state, don't you think Hurley would have at least taken a look at the giant wheel of names to find out who Jacob wanted to bring to the Island?
Make no mistake, despite the lack of reveals in this episode, it was still very solid. We saw a bit more of what was afflicting Claire, and we also took a glimpse at Jack's reset timeline, in which he had a son (probably with Sarah). The son,...
