Welcome back, Sleepyheads. Season 3 of Sleepy Hollow gets off to a solid start as Abbie and Ichabod face a new mission...
This review contains spoilers.
3.1 I, Witness
Each new season of a television show has to hit just the right balance between the familiar and the fresh when it comes to plotlines and character arcs, and nowhere is this balance more tricky than in the season pilot. It’s at this first look that an audience both renews and resets its level of investment in the show moving forth. This week, Sleepy Hollow debuts its third season with an especially tall order--what does a show do once the Big Bad (in this case, the Apocalypse) has been vanquished and the leads have fulfilled their prophesied destiny of two seasons? Create a new Big Bad, and a new destiny, of course!

There’ll be no more Headless Horseman action in Sleepy Hollow. He's been axed as season 3 pushes ahead with ‘a new framework’…
Here’s an interesting one – the powers-that-be have decided to chop the Headless Horseman from the roster in Sleepy Hollow. His epic battle with Ichabod Crane was wrapped up in season 2, and apparently won’t be showing his face (er, stump) again.
“There won’t be any Headless this year,” said Clifton Campbell, Sleepy Hollow’s current showrunner, before hinting at some big changes for the show.
“But we have a new framework and a new set of rules for the mythology,” he added. “And it all starts with the introduction of our new big bad and will take us into a very interesting device which will allow us to see a somewhat more compelling, but more personal threat to both Abbie [Nicole Beharie] and Crane [Tom Mison].”

Fox announced the first part of its 2015-16 schedule on Monday (May 11) morning and even though the network has abandoned its annual tradition of revealing two separate schedules, what we already know is full of interesting tidbits. A few highlights before we get down to the night-by-night breakdown: *** "The X-Files" will return with a two night premiere starting after the Nfc Championship on Sunday, January 24. *** "New Girl" is being held for midseason and will air [virtually] uninterrupted in the spring. *** "Empire" will continue to air at 9 p.m., meaning this season's biggest ratings sensation won't be able to serve as a lead-in for anything new, though Fox hopes a halo effect will benefit "Rosewood." *** A Tuesday comedy block featuring Rob Lowe and John Stamos suggests a bit of a demographic shift for Fox. *** Oh and this next season of "American Idol" will be its last. But that's important enough for its own story.

Good news, Sleepy Hollow fans: season three, with a new showrunner and production location, has just been confirmed by Fox…
After an interesting second season - which saw a shift towards episodic storytelling rather than serialised - Sleepy Hollow has now been picked up for a third season by Fox.
Although showrunner Mark Goffman has departed the show (he took a deal at CBS), fans will surely still be excited to see it continue. The Glades’ Clifton Campbell has been handed the task of steering the next batch of episodes.
Sleepy Hollow joins a Fox 2015-16 slate that is already getting rather full – Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Family Guy, The Simpsons, Empire and Gotham have all already been confirmed for further episodes, too.
There hasn’t been an announcement to state otherwise, so at the moment we would expect the 18-episode format of season 2 to remain intact. We would expect all the core cast to return,...

After an incredibly successful first season, season 2 of Sleepy Hollow seemed to be a never-ending trudge towards the end of days. The writing, having become increasingly formulaic and tired, left our heroes without much to further their stories, relying instead on the weekly Scooby-Doo villain to distract from the under-development of characters and their relationships.
With "The Awakening" and "Tempus Fugit," the penultimate and final episodes of the season, the show's writers have surprised fans and detractors alike by delivering major punches with two of the biggest plot twists in the short history of the series in its final two episodes of season 2.

Has Sleepy Hollow done enough to justify season 3 renewal in this week's fast-paced, intense finale? We hope so...
This review contains spoilers.
2.18 Tempus Fugit
The work Abbie Mills is tasked with as season two concludes is a matter of life and death, both inside the world of the story and for the series itself. Abbie has to find some way to connect with Ichabod - who is, of course, not the 2015 Ichabod we know - and convince him of the danger he and the world are in at the hands of his wife. This is an Herculean task, sure, but with the question of the show’s renewal hovering like Katrina’s levitating knife about to stab Ichabod in the back, this finale has quite the feat to pull off as well.
Both worked. This was a wonderful episode in its own right, and though we won’t know for...

Season 2 of Sleepy Hollow comes to an end with a finale that pushes the re-set button on an inconsistent and ill-received season. "Tempus Fugit" casts Abbie as the woman out of time, trying to convince a skeptic Ichabod to believe in her crazy tale of time travel and supernatural occurrences. It also brings back two memorable characters and sees the end of the Dark-Katrina arc.
"Tempus Fugit" is one of the few genuinely good episodes of Sleepy Hollow?s sophomore season and the ending provides a strong launching point should the series return for season 3. Take a look at the most notable moments from the season finale. For more on what happened, check out the recap.

Here at the very end of the season, “Sleepy Hollow” finally gets its legs in ‘Tempus Fugit.” Whether or not it will enough to grant the floundering show a third year remains to be seen, but if the Scooby gang Should return in the Fall of 2015, it’ll be as a much trimmer team. The best part of the season happened in the last five minutes of the previous episode. While “Tempus Fugit” doesn’t fully commit the show to a time-traveling Abbie Mills, it does crams in as much fun and fear as it can in 40 minutes. Mills as a woman out of her time, — but never out of her element — could’ve been an entire season arc. If the “Sleepy Hollow” writers were feeling feisty, they could’ve pulled a “Kate and Leopold,” and just said time is obviously a Mobius strip and Abbie was Always meant to...

Sleepy Hollow, Season 2, Episode 18, “Tempus Fugit”
Written by Mark Goffman
Directed by Paul Edwards
Airs Mondays at 9pm (Et) on Fox
It’s hard to regard Sleepy Hollow’s second season as anything other than a disappointment. While it never crossed the threshold into being a bad show, what was once the most loopy and good-humored offering on broadcast television transformed into something that was frequently a chore to watch. There was no major single flaw in the series, but multiple bad decisions that were allowed to fester and detract from the things the show did well. Irving’s constantly wavering allegiances and relevance, the introduction of a character no one particularly liked in Hawley, a Moloch plan that lacked the complexity of earlier efforts, and pushing Katrina down a flight of misguided plots—all of these gave the feeling that Sleepy Hollow no longer had a steady hand behind the wheel,...

Feature-length documentary The Devil on Wheels – set to run a crowd funding campaign on Kickstarter from Wednesday 4th March, for 30 days on an all-or-nothing basis – looks at, and celebrates, the making of and the cult surrounding Duel, the first well known film created by Steven Spielberg starring the infamous protagonist Peterbilt 281 truck.
A small shot-for-tv film, Duel has astonished many by generating an ongoing cult for more than four decades amongst film fans and truck lovers, who will never forget the frightening Peterbilt unrelentingly chasing Dennis Weaver’s Plymouth Valiant. The 1971 film sees a terrifying tanker, whose driver we never see, for no apparent reason chases a lone driver along the desert roads of Southern California.
Why a tiny film, made cheaply and quickly for TV, has generated such a passionate, international and undying cult, is the question the documentary wants to answer… Duel fans from all over the world...

Update: Since we published this piece, VersinnageTV has posted a nice interview with Behar, complete with an animation of the watch in action. Watch it below.
With its single hand, and pristine face, the Vue watch by Yves Behar for Issey Miyake makes an existential statement about the fleeting nature of time. "You have to look quickly," Behar told us in an early look. "You only see one number at a time. It's a view into the past and future."
In conceptualizing the design, Behar said he was troubled by the Adhd nature of our world. "Why do I need to see all twelve numbers when only one is needed?" he said, like a man for whom multitasking is anathema.
