It has been one year since celebrity chef Paula Deen was embroiled in a lawsuit regarding her use of a racist slur. Since then, Deen has mostly laid low, but she is now planning her return. The 67 year-old, who specializes in rich-tasting Southern cuisine, will launch an online video channel that will require a subscription. The channel will be called The Paula Deen Network, and it is expected to launch sometime in September. It is sure to feature the same brand of buttery food that served as the staple of Deen's Food Network cooking show, Paula's Home Cooking. That program's 12 year run ended in 2013 after Deen's aforementioned scandal became public knowledge. Deen maintained an audience on her personal YouTube channel, but even that outlet went dark for more than four months before Deen returned to it to announce her new venture. By taking her recipes to the Internet, Deen is...

Paula Deen has fired her longtime agent. The former Food Network star has been dropped by Smithfield Foods, Wal-Mart, Target and publishing house Ballantine, and now Deen is making moves to start a whole new team. CNN reports that Deen announced Thursday that she fired the agent who helped make her a Food Network star and launch a merchandising empire. New York agent Barry Weiner also engineered her getting Paula's Home Cooking on the Food Network in 2002. "Paula Deen has separated from her agent," Deen's spokeswoman, Elana Weiss, said in an email Thursday. "She and her family thank him for the tireless effort and dedication over the many years." Deen's trouble began after public disclosure of a legal deposition...

Paula Deen announced Thursday that she has cut business ties with the agent who helped make her a Food Network star and launch a media and merchandising empire that has largely crumbled in the wake of her admission that she used racial slurs in the past. Deen had worked with New York agent Barry Weiner for more than a decade. She has said he was instrumental in getting her show "Paula's Home Cooking" on the Food Network in 2002. She gave no reason for her parting with Weiner in a prepared statement. "Paula Deen has separated from her agent," Deen's spokeswoman,...

Paula Deen has parted ways with Barry Weiner, the New York-based agent who helped make her a Food Network star. "Paula Deen has separated from her agent," the butter-loving cook's spokeswoman, Elana Weiss, said in an email obtained by the Associated Press on Thursday, July 4. "She and her family thank him for the tireless effort and dedication over the many years." Deen credited Weiner with being instrumental in getting Paula's Home Cooking on the Food Network in 2006. The show was recently canceled after Deen admitted [...]...

Just how much of a hole did Paula Deen dig for herself? With the Food Network's announcement that it would not be renewing its contract with the Paula's Home Cooking star, along with QVC distancing itself from the celebrity chef and Smithfield Foods cutting ties with her altogether after she admitted to past use of the N-word and other hurtful remarks, it would seem that Deen's culinary empire is currently up in flames. But her bank account isn't under as much fire as one might think. Sure, her ranking as Forbes' No. 4 highest-earning celeb chef is definitely at risk...but all is not lost just yet. "I would estimate the loss of Food Network and Smithfield to...

Paula Deen has rescheduled her date with Matt Lauer. Three days after skipping out on an interview on Today, the celeb chef has now agreed to appear on the program this Wednesday. "She has told us she will be here this time," Lauer said on Monday morning. Last Friday, Deen issued an apology video following her admission to using the N-word during a video deposition as part of a $1.2 million lawsuit filed by a former employee. Apparently, though, it wasn't enough for the Food Network, which dropped Deen amid the controversy, putting an end to such shows as Paula's Home Cooking and Paula's Best Dishes. "Food Network will not renew Paul Deen's contract when it...

The Food Network may no longer enjoy Paula Deen's cooking, but her fans are still standing by her side. After the network known for hosting Deen's shows like Paula's Home Cooking and Paula's Best Dishes dropped the cook amidst the recent N-word controversy, her fans are attempting her rescue. Or at least showing her support. A "We Support Paula Deen" Facebook page has been created and already has more than 200,000 "likes." The Facebook page for Deen was created by a supporter, who wrote: "Recently Food Network personality Paula Deen has issued an apology for statements that she has made in the past. Let's support her as she moves...

Looks like Paula Deen's apology hasn't smoothed things over. Food Network has dropped Paula Deen amidst the N-word controversy that erupted yesterday, putting an end to such shows as Paula's Home Cooking and Paula's Best Dishes, E! News has confirmed. "Food Network will not renew Paula Deen's contract when it expires at the end of this month," the network says in a statement. Last month in a video deposition that was part of $1.2 million lawsuit filed against her by a former employee, Deen admitted to using the N-word and to telling what could be perceived as racist jokes. "It's just what they are—they're jokes...most jokes are about Jewish people,...

New York — Paula Deen should hope for more fans like Jennifer Everett of Tyler, Texas, who carried a shopping bag filled with $53 worth of merchandise from the celebrity chef's Georgia store on Thursday. A day earlier, it was revealed that Deen admitted during questioning in a lawsuit that she had slurred blacks in the past.
"Who hasn't ever said that word?" Everett said. "I don't think any less of her. She's super friendly. She's a warm person who wouldn't hurt a fly."
Deen's admission that she had used the N-word in the past wasn't the first time the queen of comfort food's mouth had gotten her into big trouble. She said in 2012 that for three years she hid her Type 2 diabetes while continuing to cook the calorie-laden food that's bad for people like her.
Hypocrisy is one thing, hostility another. From her days as a divorced mother selling bag lunches on the streets of Savannah,...

Paula Deen is again defending herself after an admission went public this week about her past use of the N-word. The celebrity chef has come under fire after a newly filed deposition revealed that she used the widely condemned racial slur years earlier. On Wednesday, her lawyer released a statement that said the 66-year-old Food Network star "does not condone or find the use of racial epithets acceptable." A day later, Paula Deen Enterprises released a new statement echoing that position. "During a deposition where she swore to tell the truth, Ms. Deen recounted having used a racial epithet in the past,...

Apaprently, Paula Deen's claims that she invented the donut burger are not entirely true. Her son, Jaime Deen set things straight by telling the world the real story -- his mom based the recipe off something they saw in Minor League Baseball.
"You know what's funny is that's not her recipe. That was a Minor League Baseball thing, and my mom did like a spoof on it. That's the only thing that really bothered me was they gave us credit for that recipe but it wasn't even our recipe," Jamie told the Daily Meal. "The Minor League Baseball team did one of those things, you make the craziest things you can think of. So they made a cheeseburger on a donut. And it was on the nautical news cycle for about five months and somebody from our production team put it together. I have never tasted or seen my...

Wow, I can't think of a worse cross promotion than "The Simpsons" and "So You Think You Can Dance." Maybe "Dexter" and "My Pretty Pony" or maybe "Paula's Home Cooking" and "Celebrity Fit Club," but really, I know Fox needs to get people tuning in during sweeps, but I have this fear of seeing Homer and Marge galoomping across the stage doing a Viennese waltz and it makes me want to throw up a little. Pull up a chair and dig into these facts and trivia about everyone's favorite southern belle, Paula Deen.
14 Facts about Paula Deen1
In 1989, Paula, recently divorced with two young children and living in Savannah with only $200 to her name, launched a small catering company called The Bag Lady, for which she prepared sandwiches that she and her sons went out and sold.
2
Paula, a self-professed "late bloomer," didn't get the idea to be a professional cook until she was 42 years old.
3
Paula often cooks with what she calls one of her favorite ingredients: butter.
4
Both Paula's parents died by the time she was 23. She says their deaths led to a fear of death, and eventually brought on her battle with chronic agoraphobia. Her fear of leaving the house became even more intense when she was held up at gunpoint when she was a bank teller. Eventually she was able to overcome her illness without therapy.

CBS's 'Light,' 'World' lead Daytime Emmy noms
NEW YORK -- CBS and two of its long-running daytime dramas, "Guiding Light" and "As the World Turns", garnered the most nominations Wednesday for the 34th annual Daytime Emmy Awards.
CBS received 57 nominations, well ahead of PBS' 38 and ABC's 36, which were the only networks to receive more than 16. Syndicated programming received 53 noms. PBS received 20 nominations Wednesday and collected the other 18 during last month's Children's Emmy nominations.
"The Price Is Right" host Bob Barker, 83, who is retiring in June after more than three decades with the show, has a shot at an 18th Daytime Emmy Award with a nomination for outstanding game-show host.
The awards ceremony will be held Friday, June 15, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland and broadcast live in primetime on CBS. A Creative Arts Award ceremony will take place a day earlier.
"Guiding Light", the longest-running soap in production (it went to air on TV in 1952), received the most noms of any show with 17, while "As the World Turns" (which debuted in 1956) followed with 16. Three shows -- PBS' "Sesame Street", "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and CBS' "The Young & the Restless" -- each received 12 mentions. ABC trio "General Hospital", "One Life to Live" and "The View" received 10 apiece.
For the first time in more than 20 years, "Live With Regis and Kelly" (formerly "Live! With Regis and Kathie Lee") didn't make the talk show or talk show host categories. This was intentional on the part of the show, which instead entered a new Daytime Emmy category of outstanding morning program. It's open to shows that air before noon. Talk shows can either enter the existing categories or the new morning-program category but not both.
Nominations for the new award will be announced sometime in April. The Emmy will go to the producers and the hosts, which means that "Today" co-host Meredith Vieira might add a second nom to go with her nomination for best game show host.
"Guiding Light", CBS' "The Bold and the Beautiful", "One Life to Live" and "Young & the Restless" received nominations for outstanding drama series. "Jeopardy", "Price" and "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" received noms in the game-show category.
Talk show nominations went to "Dr. Phil", "Ellen DeGeneres Show", "The Tyra Banks Show", "Rachael Ray" and "The View". Lifestyle program nominations went to Food Network's "Barefoot Contessa" and "Paula's Home Cooking", A&E's "Sell This House", PBS' "This Old House" and the syndicated "Martha Stewart Show".
Nominations for lead actress in a drama series are Maura West in "As the World Turns", Crystal Chappell and Kim Zimmer in "Guiding Light" and Jeanne Cooper and Michelle Stafford in "Young & the Restless."
Lead actor nominations were given to Michael Park in "As the World Turns", Anthony Geary in "General Hospital", Ricky Paull Goldin in "Guiding Light" and Peter Bergman and Christian LeBlanc in "Young & the Restless."
Game-show host nods went to Barker, Vieira ("Who Wants to Be a Millionaire"), Ben Bailey (Discovery Channel's "Cash Cab"), Alex Trebek ("Jeopardy!"), Pat Sajak ("Wheel of Fortune").
Vieira's former colleagues at "View" -- Barbara Walters, Rosie O'Donnell, Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselbeck -- shared a nomination in the talk-show host category along with Ellen DeGeneres, Rachael Ray, Phil McGraw ("Dr. Phil"), Lisa Rinna and Ty Treadway ("Soap Talk") and Tyra Banks ("Tyra Banks Show").
Others networks nominated were Discovery Kids (16, including one announced Wednesday), NBC (15), Kids' WB! (10), Food Network (seven), Nickelodeon (five), A&E (four), Discovery Channel (three) and two each for Cartoon Network, Fox, Noggin and Soap Net. One each went to Animania, Disney Channel, HGTV, Lifetime, MTV, TBN, TLC and Travel Channel. Warnerbros.com earned a nom.
Several of the noms, particularly in the children's categories, were previously announced.
