Oh happy day! I have loved Amazon Prime's new The Tick reboot! It's funny, it's heart-breaking, it's action-packed. The thing that's really great about it though, is it takes its characters seriously. Even The Tick. But it, conversely, also doesn't downplay the absurdity of the idea of a world where superheroes exist (I love the fact there's just... Read More...

Older Millennials are typically hesitant to claim the much-maligned label, but slap some “Sister Act” on the TV and you’ll soon see who was born after 1982. One look at Whoopi Goldberg in that nun’s habit, and they won’t be able to stop from singing, “Oh Happy Day.” It’s been 25 years since the comedy first debuted, and Goldberg used her post on “The View” to reunite members of the original cast for a rousing version of “I Will Follow Him.”
Goldberg was joined by supporting players Kathy Najimy and Wendy Makkena, as well as Sheri Izzard, Darlene Koldenhoven, Beth Fowler (of “Orange is The New Black” renown), Andrea Robinson, and Prudence Holmes. The cast was backed up by a few extra choir members to round out the harmonies, which might not have been a bad idea judging from how some of their voices have aged. One thing...

Look friends, I don't mean to beat you over the head with Guardian of the Galaxy news today, but this quote from director James Gunn explains quite a bit. First, If you have not watched the new trailer, check it out below, and you may not notice but there is actually a lot of images of Ego in his planet form. So how can he pop out as the iron-jawed Kurt Russell when ever he wants? Gunn gives an explanation in an interview earlier today.
“Ego is a living planet who is able to manifest himself in different ways he’s been alone for millions of years and he’s learned how to control the molecules around him in such a way as to create avatars of themselves, such as Kurt Russell. I think Ego was a very lonely character out there by himself and went off in search of...

Katy Perry is certainly hoping this won't be "The One That Got Away." On Wednesday, a Los Angeles judged ruled that the sale of a former Catholic convent - that Perry has also tried to buy - was void to businesswoman Dana Hollister, according to reports. Judge Stephanie Bowick's decision came as a result of the nuns' improper attempts to sell the property to Hollister, the Associated Press reports. The judge added that the Los Angeles' archbishop must authorize any sale and the nuns failed to receive that authorization before turning the property over to Hollister. Now that the previous sale has been ruled invalid,...

Candy Spelling dumped a lover over a penile implant, Rep. Allen West says Glsen is indoctrinating children, can marriage equality in all 50 states arrive by next June?
On a typical Monday in New York, a 26-year-old man and the 21-year-old prostitute he’d called to his home got into a fight when he refused to pay the man. It got ugly, breaking a glass door in the lobby, and police were having trouble reconstructing the fight when David Schwimmer appeared and told them his security cameras next door had captured the whole fight, making him a hero. I hope the prostitute got paid in the end. So that’s what Ross has been up to these days.
So it seems that Pixar’s next film, Inside Out, is basically Herman’s Head for teenage girls.

Akin to last year's equally puzzling and unnerving, yet intriguing, teasers that left viewers a bit puzzled, this year's teaser is no different as it already has Twitter and other social media sites buzzing with theories on what to expect once American Horror Story: Asylum opens its doors for business in October. Take a look at the trailer if you already haven't already:
As stated across the board (and in the teaser) American Horror Story will be called American Horror Story: Asylum, which is the namesake of where the terror will call home this upcoming season.

Oh happy day! 2D cell animation is not dead, thanks in part to people like animator Robb Pratt. In a follow up to his massively viewed Superman Classic, the animator has a mix of styles on display, particularly the Paul Dini look mashed up again backgrounds that recall the old Fleischer stuff. You can bet I'll be contacting Mr. Pratt for a few words on his work soon. For anybody who remembers the Jonny Quest stop motion fanfilm I posted, you know this stuff is what I live for. It's almost unfair to call these "fanfilms" since an obviously pro-level of artistry has gone into the work. Pratt does have pro credits under his belt, with work on titles like Tarzan 2 and The Emperor's...

Note: Do not read on if you have not watched the Season 2 finale of AMC's "The Walking Dead," entitled "Beside the Dying Fire."
The first two acts of "The Walking Dead" Season 2 finale were full of excitement, honest to God suspense and characters who came up with pretty decent plans on the fly. When the braaaains finally hit the fan at Hershel Greene's farm, my pulse quickened and I found myself wondering and even caring about the survival of characters who'd done little more than irritate me for weeks. Hell, I even gave a crap about Hershel himself. As he pumped that rifle and mowed down walkers on his front lawn, he finally became a resolute character worth investing in.
Where has this show been for the past half year?
I mean, for more than a third of the season finale, nobody had a philosophical conversation or stood around debating what to do next.

Oh happy day! It’s a Robert Pattinson sighting! This time, it’s our favorite heading into Toronto’s Pearson International Airport to jet out of the country. He was in the city to do some Cosmopolis voice overs, apparently. So luckily, that means that all that scruff doesn’t go anywhere near the big screen! Because, we like to see RPattz’s face unobscured, thank you very much. Dude remember — it’s Team Vamp. Not Team Wolf!

We’re of the opinion that you may love her or hate her, but you can’t ignore Lindsay Lohan. So she’s not allowed to throw parties anymore and is under house arrest. But even being under lock-and-key legally, doesn’t prevent her from being everywhere. It’s almost eerie. Having said that, we don’t have a problem (for once) about this bit of decision making. Lindsay’s posed for the NOH8 campaign, and we have to say — even though this is a head shot with her mouth taped up — she still looks pretty damn good. And yup, it was shot at Li.Lo’s home, making some positive use of being under lockdown!
Lindsay’s campaign has also, most fortuitously, been revealed at the optimized time. Please start squealing your approval because you know what’s coming next — same-sex marriage is legalized in New York! We know...

Get ready, "Bachelorette" fans. The proverbial stuff is about to hit the proverbial fan - from both a surprising source and an unsurprising source.
As host Chris Harrison told us last week, this episode's Bentley shenanigans "crossed a line" and almost brought production to a halt. And I apologize up front for the length of this recap, but a lot of stuff happened this episode.
But first ...
Ben C's Date
If you'll remember from the first night, Ben C. is a lawyer in New Orleans who speaks French and plays the piano. For his date with Ashley, she and Ben are going to be in the middle of a flash mob that she helped choreograph. Very cool and that explains the "Up With People!" footage in the previews for this week. This is also a great date for Ben, he seems really artsy and will love the flash mob.
So after the choreography session,...

Look for it in theatres on June 8th, 2012.

As David Lynch knows, there's nothing scarier than white picket fences, old-fashioned red fire engines and a grandfatherly figure hosing down a manicured green lawn. Hidden behind his innocuous vision of Americana lies an insidious layer of viciousness, perversity and oppression.
On the eve of mid-term elections, the opening of Lynch's 1986 classic "Blue Velvet" offers a vivid reminder of the rosy-hued mystique of the right-wing dream machine embodied in the type of campaign commercials that stake their reputation on anachronistic fantasies of idealized suburban and rural life that, as Lynch revealed, conceal far more sinister ideologies at work.
But Lynch is the exception, of course, not the rule. Despite the claims of conservative media, Hollywood is not always a liberal bastion. Where can you find airbrushed images of American wholesomeness, supposed racial harmony and gender equality, and flag-waving triumphalism come from? Mainstream movies, of course.

Some "Glee" cast members made a big splash this week on the Internet and with Doug Benson, thanks to a GQ photo shoot. Other pics of note in the feed showed off meetings between Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Cameron, Seth Green and Jar Jar Binks, and Ludacris with a motorcycle.
Elsewhere, Rose McGowan chastised Omar Doom for his Blu-ray watching choices, while Damon Lindelof assessed Jean-Claude Van Damme's heart attack denial and Rich Sommer backed one of his "Mad Men" co-stars to play Superman. London, Oct – A new flick ‘Secretariat’-that opens and closes with a quote from the Book of Job, and at a key moment the gospel hymn “Oh Happy Day” serenades the audience-is Hollywood’s latest attempt to recruit cinema-goers from the Bible Belt.
It is the true-life story of an American thoroughbred racehorse that won the Triple Crown in 1973.mid big budget flops and crashing DVD sales, filmmakers are now turning to what they call “faith-based audiences,” more specifically America’s vast church-going community.

Secretariat
Directed by: Randall Wallace
Cast: Diane Lane, John Malkovich, Margo Martindale, Scott Glenn
Running Time: 1 hr 54 mins
Rating: PG
Release Date: October 8, 2010
Plot: A housewife (Lane) takes over the stables from her ailing father (Glenn) and thinks she has a triple crown winner in a new horse they eventually call Secretariat.
Who’S It For? Want to celebrate a strong woman in the early 70s? Love Diane Lane no matter what? Those are your main motivators. Sure, there are horses, but not as many as you would think.
Expectations: One thought kept creeping into my head, can Secretariat really contend with Seabiscuit. I knew nothing about the Seabiscuit story, where as almost everyone knows Secretariat was the last horse to win the triple crown. I mean, Espn’s SportsCentury had Secretariat at number 35 for best athletes.
Scorecard (0-10)
Actors:
Diane Lane as Penny Chenery: She’s the first lady of horse racing.
