New Delhi, April 21: Actor Emraan Hashmi might have played the role of a lover boy in several Bollywood movies in the past, but he won't opt for roles that don't have "any depth" or "logic".
The 34-year-old, who started his career with the 2003 movie "Footpath", went on to do commercial films like "Zeher", "Kalyug", "Jannat" and "Raaz The Mystery Continues...".
"I have always liked very clear characters. I don't like unidimensional 'hero characters' because they don't have any depth, background or logic behind them. Characters are flesh and blood, living people, who you can relate to," Emraan told Ians.
"I can't do.

Emraan Hashmi turns 34 today. And as usual, he is planning to have a low key celebration. Born on 24th March 1979 to Anwar Hashmi and Maherrah Hashmi, he made his Bollywood debut with ‘Footpath’ in the year 2003. Most of his hits have been from Vishesh Productions, which belongs to his uncle, Mahesh Bhatt. Emraan Hashmi rose to fame because of his serial kisser image. Given his recent spate of hit films, he is in no mood to let go of his serial kisser tag. He has appeared in several commercial films which have been very successful. During the launch of one of his music albums, he was quoted as saying, “I am still kissing in my f...

Emraan Hashmi has taken the biggest leap amongst actors of his generation in Bollywood. He has been signed for a film by none other than Academy Award winning director Danis Tanovic of No Man's Land fame. It is the same film which was chosen for the Oscars over Aamir Khan's Lagaan a decade ago. Though one wonders whether the filmmaker was conscious of the fact that a film coming from India had almost resulted in a photo finish for the Oscars race, Danis himself hasn't shied away from roping in an Indian actor for his next. "This is huge. Period", says an insider, "Let's not even talk about competition here as Emraan has clearly made his entry into an elite segment here. For someone who was said to be delivering hits only due to his kissing prowess, the man has gone ahead and proved his credentials, especially over last couple of years.

They say ‘Nothing Succeeds like Success’. When Emraan Hashmi started his acting career as a tapori in ‘Footpath’, I doubt anyone would have imagined in their wildest of dreams that 10 years down the line, he would be one of the most bankable stars in the country.

Abhay Deol and Emraan Hashmi have gone through a complete metamorphosis in Dibakar Banerjee’s Shanghai. So much that both Abhay and Emraan are almost unrecognizable in the roles. Those who have seen them on the sets have not been able to recognize them in their get up.
Writer-director Dibakar Banerjee admits that when he was writing the script of Shanghai, that it was none other than Abhay Deol that came to his imagination for Krishnan’s character. He couldn’t imagine anyone else.

Mumbai, March 23: Actor Emraan Hashmi, who started his career with action film "Footpath" and moved on to romance and drama, says he would love to go back to the genre, provided he gets a film with a strong story and character.
"I would want a character-driven action film," Emraan said here.
"Generally action-driven films are low on story. I personally would like to do films where from point A to point Z there is a well-etched character and a good script. Definitely if it's an action film, it has to be a good script," he added.
The 32-year-old feels it's important for action filmmakers to strike the right.

“Only three things work in the film industry,” says Balan’s character, ”Entertainment, Entertainment and Entertainment.” While many Bollywood movies have been exploiting this fact to the core with “entertainment” solely replacing content, Ekta Kapoor’s and Milan Luthria’s The Dirty Picture proves a point that you can serve both entertainment and good content together. And yes, if the promos have made an impression that this movie is all sex, then you couldn’t be more wrong. For the makers of this movie have definitely ensured that what you take home from this movie is a complete package.
Though the movie claims to be a fictionalized account, it isn’t difficult to see that it definitely is based on the 80’s south siren Silk Smitha’s life. Having run away from her home the night before her marriage, Reshma (Vidya Balan), has only one dream: to make it big...

Ever since, all Vishesh Films (production outfit of Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt) has opted to present Emraan in the lead.

Mumbai: See it from the eyes of the world and you always see it critical. The same has been the case with Emraan Hashmi. The world has always been cynical about his work. But that did not stop him; he did the same over the years and no matter what he has been enormously successful.
Starting from “Footpath” and “Murder” to till date “Murder 2” he has been more involved with the labyrinthine and obscure world of the underworld. He has almost exemplified a genre of work which exclusively belongs to his. And with Gods being at his side, he has been successful in this. With the world opposing.

The very moment one utters the term 'Perfection', you immediately recall Aamir Khan. When one utters the term 'brawn', you recall Salman Khan. The very way, when anyone utters the term 'kiss', the only name that pops in every human mind is that of Emraan Hashmi. He is the man who redefined the term 'kissing' in his own sweet way, so much so that he was 'conferred' the term of 'Serial Kisser', something that Bollywood had never seen or witnessed before! Even though he debuted in Bollywood with the film Footpath, he shot into all-time fame with Murder. He is someone who is known for not just crystal clear nature but also crystal clear image, both on screen and off it. After having delivered an array of hits at the Box-office, this man has set afire the silver screen with his splendid performance in the season's latest hit Tum Mile.
