While Claire is talking to Drew on the airplane, the level of his drink goes from nearly empty with no ice to nearly full with a lot of ice.

At the memorial, when the people are leaving the room because of the fire, there's a shot of a woman taking away Drew's father's picture, a giant portrait in black and white. In the next shot, the picture is seen at the back of the room.

When Hollie is giving her speech at the memorial, she walks across the stage, and as her pant legs sway they reveal pointy toe stilettos, which are not suitable for tap dancing. However, when she puts the microphone down and begins her performance, she is wearing tap shoes.

When Claire and Drew are in the ballroom, Claire is holding a champagne glass. When she steps up onto the platform area of the main table, she sets it down. Drew lifts her off and puts her down, and she doesn't have it, but in the next shot she is holding it again.

During the scene where the band is playing "Free Bird" and the hall catches fire, the banner across the stage burns in two and falls to either side. Later in the song there is a long shot of the band onstage and the banner is intact.

The British Special Air Service motto actually is "Who Dares Wins".

Claire keeps yelling exit 60B to Drew, but the exit for Elizabethtown off the Bluegrass Parkway is 94, and when it is seen on screen, it says "94".

The movie is set in 2005. But when Drew steps out of the car upon reaching the funeral home, the sound of 17-year-cicadas is very evident. Cicadas were not active in 2005, however, they were the year before.

Drew is told that the family plot in Elizabethtown has been in the family for 272 years. This is impossible, as the first documented European settlement in the Louisville area was in 1778, with Elizabethtown being founded in 1793. This was 227 years and 212 years before the setting of the film in 2005.

Louisville International Airport does not have commercial 747s that land and taxi to a gate, because none of the air bridges at SDF are jumbo jet-ready.

When Drew is looking at his dad in the casket, his "dead" dad clearly cracks a smile.

However, based on the context of the story, this obviously was an attempt by the filmmakers to show Drew daydreaming and/or hallucinating when faced with the emotion of seeing his dead father.

Actor Orlando Bloom's suppressed British accent is apparent at times, which seems to contradict his character's origin from Oregon.

The movie was set in current day and shows an American Airlines 747. AA discontinued use of the last of this aircraft on 12/29/94. The current AA uniforms are evident of this current day.

When Drew sees Samson in the car starting the engine, he runs towards it from the porch to grab the boy. As he begins to run off the porch, he yells "Hey!" at Samson, but his mouth does not move.

When Hollie is tap dancing, the audience is heard applauding her, yet in some shots from behind Hollie, it can be seen that the audience is not actually clapping.

While Drew is Driving into Elizabethtown and is waving to all the townsfolk, reflections are seen in the windows of some building. The reflections are of the car that Drew is in, and it is on a trailer with a camera attached to the bonnet.

Claire states that she and Drew are only 45 minutes apart from each other. However, it was made clear that she lives in Nashville (evidenced by conversation & "Music City USA" sign at airport) which is between 3-4 hours from Louisville (considering the difference in time zones).

At the end, Drew's voiceover says, "The motto of the British Special Service Airforce is 'those who risk, win'." The unit is actually called the "Special Air Service", it is a special forces unit and not an airforce at all, and the motto is "Who Dares Wins".
