The third time was the charm for Hill Harper. After appearing in two short-lived CBS series, "City of Angels" and "The Handler," he landed the role of Dr. Sheldon Hawkes on the network's popular "CSI: NY." In addition to returning for his eighth season of forensics, Harper is looking forward to the release of his fourth book, "The Wealth Cure: Putting Money in Its Place."His journey to an acting career wasn't a straight path, but Harper believes in learning and expanding one's knowledge, so he values all his education. "I studied theater in college, and I absolutely knew that I loved acting and I knew that I loved theater," he says. But he didn't know anyone in the entertainment industry, so he didn't know how to turn that love into a career. He loved education as well, so he continued his studies, eventually earning his law degree from Harvard and.

Toronto -- Credit Los Angeles agents and distributors with the heavy lifting behind recent U.S. network deals for Canadian series like CBS' "Flashpoint" and NBC's "Howie Do It."
"All roads lead through Hollywood, whether it's for packaging, financing, distribution, and everyone needs an advocate physically based in Hollywood," says agent Charles Lenhoff at Lenhoff & Lenhoff, who has represented Canadian A-listers on his roster since the 1980s.
Much as last year's Hollywood writers strike opened a door into U.S. primetime for series from the Great White North, Canadian producers have relied on Los Angeles handlers to keep their foot in the door at the studios.
Sure, the creative for upcoming series like NBC's "The Listener" and CBS' "The Bridge" was spawned in Canada, and that's where the recognizably Canadian series get made with tax credits and other local incentives.
But it's local agents and distributors that have helped guide...

The Vine: Dawn of the dead on 'Sopranos'
The whacked may strike back in the upcoming season of The Sopranos. Sources said that some of the characters killed in the HBO mob drama's first four seasons will resurface in an episode of the series next year. Vincent Pastore (aka Salvatore "Big Pussy" Bonpensiero), David Proval (Richie Aprile), John Heard (Detective Vin Makazian), Al Sapienza (Mikey Palmice), Dan Grimaldi (Philly "Spoons" Parisi) and Jason Cerbone (Jackie Aprile Jr.) are said to be on board for the episode. Sources said Joe Pantoliano (Ralph Cifaretto), who just earned an Emmy for his work on Sopranos, also is expected to appear as a deal is being worked out to accommodate the shooting schedule of Pantoliano's new CBS drama The Handler. It's unclear just how these characters will be brought back to life, but sources said the episode is believed to involve a dreamlike sequence. Reps for all the actors declined comment Tuesday. A spokeswoman for HBO said the network does not comment on upcoming story lines.
