Only half true, with wishful thinking at the end
The literal translation of the title of this movie is: The Graph of Genealogy.
Loosely based on the true story with an most important exception: in reality, the orphan eventually became an uncorrupted official instead of a successful politician depicted in the movie.
Audience should not blame this change because it reflects the wish that is common for ordinary citizens: a politician who dared to speak out and criticize the problems caused by the regime. In reality, although the uncorrupted official was widely loved and respected, he was never as vocal as the ideal politician depicted in the movie due to the position in the government: just like an uniformed soldier could not criticize the President, the official could not voice their difference with the government because they must keep in line with the government.
