From Smashbox's Photo Finish Primer to Neutrogena's SkinClearing Liquid Makeup, these products will keep the breakout at bay. Not every pick will be for you, so keep this in mind: If you have dry skin, skip...

Exceeding all reasonable expectations for an R-rated war drama, Clint Eastwood's American Sniper dominated the Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend box office with an estimated $89.5 million. That's over twice as high as the previous January opening weekend record held by Ride Along ($41.5 million), and ranks second all-time for a rated R movie behind 2003's The Matrix Reloaded ($91.8 million). The Wedding Ringer and Paddington also had solid openings, while Michael Mann's Blackhat was a disaster. The Top 12 earned an estimated $184.6 million this weekend, which is up 20 percent from the same frame last year.American Sniper's $89.5 million opening ranks 41st all-time, which puts it in the same ballpark as last year's crop of superhero movies (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, X-Men: Days of Future Past and Guardians of the Galaxy). Considering Sniper didn't have the advantage of 3D pricing, it's likely that it actually sold...

<< Continued from "Weekend Report: 'Sniper' Sets January Record with Stunning $90 Million Debut"In a distant second place, The Wedding Ringer opened to an estimated $20.6 million at 3,003 locations. That's the fourth $20-million-plus debut in a row for Kevin Hart, following Ride Along, About Last Night (2014) and Think Like a Man Too. At the same time, it's slightly concerning that this only opened to half as much as Ride Along, which took in $41.5 million on the same weekend last year.More so than on previous movies, Kevin Hart was the primary selling point for The Wedding Ringer. This calls to mind last Summer's Tammy, which opened at the same level ($21.6 million) and was sold entirely on Melissa McCarthy's star power. In both cases, the $20-million-plus opening reinforces how popular the star is. As with Tammy, though, The Wedding Ringer's opening was a big drop off from Hart's previous movies. It...

Over Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend, Kevin Hart/Ice Cube comedy Ride Along drew huge crowds and set a new January opening record. Meanwhile, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit missed the mark and Devil's Due bombed.<br>Playing at 2,663 locations, Ride Along scored a fantastic $41.2 million over the three-day weekend. That's a tad higher than Cloverfield, which had previously held the January record with $40.1 million. Among original comedies, Ride Along had the highest opening since Ted ($54.4 million) back in June 2012.Ride Along's stunning debut can be attributed to a number of factors. First and foremost, the movie had a strong, broadly-appealing premise that was put front-and-center in all of the marketing material. That would be worthless, though, if the movie looked like a dud: fortunately, the Ride Along previews were packed with solid laughs, including a very memorable shotgun bit. All of this was brought to life by stars Kevin Hart and Ice Cube,...

While it's hard to say what, if any, impact she had, Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain ruled the box office over Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend with Mama and Zero Dark Thirty. Meanwhile, Silver Linings Playbook expanded to over 2,500 locations and had its best weekend yet, and stars Mark Wahlberg and Arnold Schwarzenegger headlined bombs Broken City and The Last Stand. Mama drastically exceeded expectations with a $28.4 million three-day debut ($32.15 million four-day). While the supernatural horror genre is pretty reliable, this is an unusually high opening for an entry that doesn't utilize found footage; in fact, it's the genre's top non-found-footage debut since 2005's The Exorcism of Emily Rose ($30.1 million). Also, in just three days it earned more than producer Guillermo del Toro's last movie Don't Be Afraid of the Dark earned in its entire run ($24 million). Aside from the advantages inherent to the genre, Mama also benefited from a...

Fueled by great reviews and endless controversy, CIA thriller Zero Dark Thirty took the top spot in its nationwide expansion with $24.4 million. Among the newcomers, A Haunted House wound up in second place ahead of Gangster Squad, which is a bit of a surprise. Meanwhile, Lincoln and Silver Linings Playbook leveraged multiple Oscar nominations in to nice bumps this weekend. Playing at 2,937 locations, Zero Dark Thirty's $24.4 million is higher than the debuts of other recent acclaimed adult-leaning movies like Lincoln ($21 million) and Argo ($19.5 million). Against some of its other comparable titles, though, it's less impressive: Black Hawk Down opened to $28.6 million 11 years ago, while last February's modern warfare movie Act of Valor scored $24.5 million. Sony originally had Zero Dark Thirty scheduled for nationwide release in December, but made the shrewd decision to instead go with a platform release. That not only helped the movie avoid the pre-Christmas traffic jam,...

As (500) Days Of Summer (2009) director Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man swings into cinemas, with The Social Network and Never Let Me Go wunderkind Andrew Garfield wearing the red and blue pyjamas and Zombieland actress Emma Stone bringing Peter Parker's girlfriend Gwen Stacy to life while Rhys Ifans goes all Jekyll and Hyde on them as Doctor Curt Connors and The Lizard, it already feels as though Sam Raimi and Tobey McGuire's well received trilogy of barely a decade ago is 'old' Spidey.

Over the weekend, Rise of the Planet of the Apes handily won the box office battle, while The Change-Up attracted few bodies and The Smurfs extended its lead over Cowboys & Aliens. Rise of the Planet of the Apes climbed to the top with an estimated $54 million on approximately 5,400 screens at 3,648 locations, which ranked as the fifth highest-grossing August opening ever (but ninth normalized for ticket-price inflation). Among comparable movies, the franchise reboot's launch was superior to District 9's $37.4 million and Terminator Salvation's $42.6 million and close to G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra's $54.7 million (on the same weekend in 2009). It even grossed more than I, Robot's $52.2 million (though sold fewer tickets) and wasn't far off from X-Men: First Class's $55.1 million earlier this summer. Swooping into first with an estimated $34 million in three days, The Green Hornet added some zing to an otherwise tepid Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend, while The Dilemma was a distant second. Overall business was down around 25 percent from the same weekend last year, which featured the one-two punch of Avatar and The Book of Eli, and this is shaping up to be the least-attended Mlk weekend since the mid-1990's. The Green Hornet snared the highest-grossing opening ever for a live-action superhero comedy, topping Kick-Ass's $19.8 million in a sub-genre that usually struggles at the box office. Lately, the only thing standing between me looking human or a hot mess is one of my trusted makeup primers. And thankfully, it’s not just me who faces this problem in the heat. “Summer means a few things for your face: sun damage, sweat and oily skin!” says celebrity makeup artist and Co-Founder of the Luxe Beauty Team, Amy Hollier. “A primer will help block those Uv rays, hold the makeup in place and protect your makeup from your natural oils.” If you want to look as flawless as Lea Michele, they’re definitely worth a try.

Wavelengths 1: Soul of the City
As the pace of the contemporary urban experience grows faster and the world becomes increasingly fractured, artists are documenting the vestiges and layers revealed in flux; global updates on the city symphony.
Tomonari Nishikawa’s Tokyo-Ebisu (Japan) is a 16mm in-camera patchwork constructed from multiple viewpoints from the platforms of Tokyo’s busiest railway line, Yamanote, and a masking technique which exposes 1/30th of a frame 30 times in order to capture an image of spectral apparitions. The Soul of Things (U.S.A) from Dominic Angerame presents luscious chiaroscuro images of the construction and destruction of modern structures exposing their inner soul. From Thom Andersen, director of Los Angeles Plays Itself, Get Out of the Car (U.S.A.) is a city symphony exploring Los Angeles’ gentrification through a thoughtful montage of façades and a playful excursus through its musical history. Callum Cooper’s Victoria,...

Here's a look back at past weekends comparable to June 2-4, 2010: 5 Years Ago - 2005 War of the Worlds stormed the box office with a $64.9 million first weekend at 3,908 locations, bringing its five-day opening to $100.6 million. At the time, it posted the second highest-grossing Independence Day weekend ever, though it didn't have the attendance impact of the holiday's previous alien invasion movie, Independence Day in 1996. The releases of the previous weekend and new entry Rebound were so weak that Batman Begins and Mr. & Mrs. Smith placed a distant second and third, respectively. * Weekend Report: 'War of the Worlds' Booms on Independence Day Weekend 10 Years Ago - 2000 The Perfect Storm blew into the top spot with $41.3 million at 3,407 locations, blasting past The Patriot, which was timed for the holiday and made $22.4 million at 3,061 locations ($31.7 million since its Wednesday start). Patriot might have paled compared to the harrowing disaster movie,...

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse didn't live up to its name in relation to its predecessor but it delivered a massive start in its own right. Throw in a sizable debut for The Last Airbender, and Independence Day weekend was capped by the initial bursts of two fan-driven pictures. The weekend's overall gross was up 18 percent over last year when Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs were on top, but attendance was nothing special. Showing at a record 4,468 locations (but far from a record screen count), Eclipse drew around as much over the three-day weekend as it did on its first day: an estimated $69 million. That ranked as the third highest-grossing Independence Day opening weekend ever, behind Spider-Man 2's $88.2 million and Transformers' $70.5 million. The top weekends for this holiday tend to be muted mostly due to the movies burning off some demand with weekday debuts,...

After new Drake and Eminem releases yielded huge opening numbers on the charts, things slow down a little this week. There are plenty of nice new titles arriving in stores on Tuesday, June 29, but nothing that will come remotely close to challenging either of these two titles’ reign. 3Oh!3, “Streets of Gold” (Photo Finish/Atlantic): Warped tour headliners releases third electro-pop album, which includes duet with Ke$ha, the surprisingly sweet “My First Kiss." The-Dream, “Love King” (Radio Killa/Def Jam): One of the top R&B producer/songwriters--one of the mastermind’s behind Rihanna’s “Umbrella” and Beyonce’s “Single Ladies Put a Ring On It”—continues his...

Nintendo announced quite a good number of titles for the 3Ds at their press conference, many of which were quite surprising.
One would expect that a new handheld would receive the standard treatment – a new Mario Kart, a new Mario platformer, etc. But the 3Ds seems to be venturing into new territory, which looks to be surprisingly close to the PSP’s – mainly thanks to third-party developers.
From Super Street Fighter IV 3D, to Saint’s Row: Drive By, and even a Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory remake, it looks like Nintendo’s new 3D handheld is accommodating the slightly older gamer a little more nicely.
Even though many games were announced at the press conference, even more titles surfaced throughout the day, many of which happen to be remakes of classic Nintendo 64 games.
Here’s the full list as it stands so far:

Travis McCoy has a brand new solo single titled "Billionaire" coming out for listening pleasure. Debuted online on MTV.com, the track is confirmed to serve as the lead single from his forthcoming debut album "Lazarus".
"It's me talking about what would happen if I would somehow manage to become a billionaire. What would I do with the money?" he explained to MTV about what he wants to tell in the song. "Don't get it wrong, I'm far from a billionaire."
"I think I just made it out the 'thousandaire' category. So it's about what I would do with the money and, the same time, it opens up the question, if you were in a position to do something with a decent chunk of money, what would you do?"
Featuring Bruno Mars, the song has been sent to radios and put out for digital download. A companion video is currently...

It seems like a match made in party heaven — 3Oh!3 having Katy Perry jump on the remix of their track "Starstrukk." The band's former tourmate and superstar pal even made a cameo in the video, all dolled up in a skimpy leopard-print dress, which is sure to capture fans' attention.
"Katy did this 'cause we had, like, a million dollars," 3Oh!3 frontman Sean Foreman joked to MTV News. "No, Katy did this because we toured with Katy, we are good friends with Katy and we worked on the song together — we worked on the remix together. She came in and did the vocals and it's a great song.

After announcing a tie last night, more accurate numbers have come in for the box office bout between Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs and it looks like giant robots have once again taken the weekend.
Fourth of July Box Office
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Ice Age 3 both saw estimates claiming that each made approximately $42.5 million over the three-day weekend. See the exact estimates here; sorry for the oxymoron.
It now looks like that Ice Age 3 took in less than $42 million over the three-day while Transformers 2 is still somewhere near $42.5 million. Close, but that's still a victory for Paramount.

Chicago – Universal Home Video is releasing a wave of titles timed for Father’s Day gifts. Some of their choices - “Field of Dreams,” “Fletch” - seem like logical picks for a better HD daddy day than another striped tie while others seem chosen purely because they have the word “Men” or “Man” in the title - “Children of Men,” “Cinderella Man,” “Inside Man”.
Most are pretty good and some are great. Pick your favorite and give it to your Blu-Ray pop.
“Inside Man” will be released on Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009.
The other five titles were released on Tuesday, May 26th, 2009.
