2009 is not exactly a year that horror fans remember fondly. What came out that year? Off the top of the head, not much comes up. A quick search gives us The Unborn, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, and Drag Me to Hell. Depending on who you ask, these range from ok movies to Drag Me to Hell, but not exactly memorable overall. Something happened at the end of the 2000s and horror didn’t give us much to work with for some reason. If we dig, we get better titles like The Collector, Laid to Rest, and Paranormal Activity, but their box office ranged from amazing in the case of Paranormal Activity to almost nonexistent for the others, so it was completely hit or miss, like studios didn’t know what to push and what to keep for the home video market. Another movie that had a lot of potential...

If you’re already experiencing The Last of Us withdrawals after the finale, let Screambox fill the post-apocalyptic void in your life with The Island.
Known internationally as Sløborn, the series combines elements of disaster thriller, coming-of-age drama, dystopian sci-fi, and survival horror. The German-Danish co-production was created by filmmaker Christian Alvart, who directed the genre films Pandorum, Case 39, and Antibodies before creating Netflix’s Dogs of Berlin.
It’s never been easy to be a teenager, but it’s particularly difficult for Gen Z, who are doomed to reckon with fears of the future — or lack thereof. As 15-year-old Evelin Kern (Emily Kusche) puts it in The Island‘s opening voice over, “Ever since I can remember, the world has been ending. Species extinction, deforestation, economic crises, environmental pollution, terrorism, and climate change. Happy days. Somewhere there is always the next crisis, the next war, and mankind has...

Succession star Nicholas Braun discusses the ever-looming presence of “Cousin Greg” in his life, acting advice from Philip Seymour Hoffman and making the music video for his pop punk quarantine song “Antibodies” in the latest episode of Rolling Stone’s The First Time.

Sarah Snook was sleeping at friend’s house in her native country of Australia when this year’s Emmy nominations were announced.
“He was the one who woke me up to tell me. He ran into my room,” Snook says on Thursday’s episode of the Variety and iHeart podcast The Big Ticket. “He went and bought some Prosecco and flowers and we were like, ‘Cheers.’ And then, crickets.”
“There’s like nothing going on,” she continues. “What do you do? That’s, by the way, what I feel like what the actual event will be like as well in some ways. It’s so distant and so surreal. Will it ever have happened, apart from like in my fantasy and dream? I don’t know.”
Snook is up for supporting actress in a drama series for her work as Shiv Roy on the second season of the hit HBO series “Succession.

Emmy-nominated actor Nicholas Braun, who plays the beloved character Cousin Greg on HBO’s “Succession,” is following in Kendall Roy’s footsteps by trying his hand at music.
Braun released a song called “Antibodies” earlier this week. Inspired to write the tune during the coronavirus lockdown, he crowd-sourced lyrics via Instagram, asking musicians to help with verses to the melodies he had stuck in his head.
After an overwhelming response, the music, lyrics and video (watch it above) came together. Variety caught up with Braun to talk “Antibodies” and whether he sees a musical future for Cousin Greg on the show, which won an Emmy for last year — and is nominated again — for outstanding original main title theme music.
Your May Instagram post had over 150,000 views, were you surprised at the reaction?
Totally! I was staying at my friend’s guest house in LA and I wasn’t posting a lot of stuff.

From Imagine to Antibodies, the niche genre of crowd-sourced, coronavirus-related online music releases appears to have come full circle. Nicholas Braun, fresh off his first Emmy nomination for the role of cousin Greg in Succession, just dropped what could be the hottest virus tune of 2020.
The actor put out a call for contributions to the pop-punk track back in May, penning his own lyrics. Responses to make the cut included from Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina star Kiernan Shipka.
Antibodies touts taking virus-preventative measures such as wearing masks, using sanitizer and distancing. The response has been overwhelmingly positive (certainly in comparison with that Imagine cover) including from his Succession co-star Arian Moayed who called it “a banger” on twitter.
You can also see some of Shipka’s version here:...

Cousin Greg is the latest “Succession” family member to drop a catchy song since Kendall Roy’s “L to the Og.”
Nicholas Braun, who stars as the lanky, innocent Greg Hirsch on HBO’s “Succession,” released “Antibodies,” a pop-punk song inspired by the coronavirus pandemic on Wednesday.
The music video was crowd-sourced as Braun put out a call for musicians on his Instagram page back in May. In his post, he gave a preview of some of the lyrics and asked people to send him their own renditions of the song. He later shared some submissions, which ranged from punk rock to folk to electronic-fused interpretations. A video from “The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” star Kiernan Shipka even made it into the final cut.

It’s hard to find love during a global pandemic that is forcing people to stay away from each other. Just ask Nicholas Braun.
The “Succession” star dropped what may be the first Covid-19 inspired love song on Wednesday, titled “Antibodies (Do You Have the).” We won’t spoil the song for you, so you’ll just have to watch it in the player above.
Braun said the song was inspired by his own foray into pandemic-era dating.

My first novel “Alice Through The Multiverse” had a lengthy evolution. I am a film maker by trade, 42 crimes against Cinema, and counting. For me writing is an integral part of directing. Here’s an account of this particular creative journey.
I often have wild dreams. One such, in 2003, was the genesis of Alice’s story. All I could remember next morning were a few images. A riot overwhelms a medieval execution… A young girl flees through the forest in a blinding thunderstorm… The girl faints… She wakes up in a 21st Century psychiatric institution… That’s all I could remember. Strange. If dreams are the subconscious putting out the trash, what tortured region of my inner being did this come from? Or was it just psychic screen grabs evoking movies I’ve seen, or maybe a movie I would want to see? I groggily jotted down what I could remember,...

Comic-Con, 2009. San Diego is abuzz as usual. “Pandorum” looks the business. As far as science fiction horrors go, there are few that can actually go down in memory. Of course, Ridley Scott’s “Alien” is the top dog in this category, setting a benchmark for all in the combined genres. Christian Alvart is an effective filmmaker who hails from Germany. He has little experience but certainly knows the horror genre with his “Antibodies” (a.k.a. “Antikörper”) project which enjoyed strong user ratings. Ben Foster takes the role of Bower, a man who awakens aboard a spaceship with no knowledge of how they are and what his mission is. Also in the cast is veteran Dennis Quaid, upcoming star Cam Gigandet, German actress Antje Traue and Mma star Cung Le (“Fighting”). Quaid didn’t make it out to Comic-Con for either of his films (the other being “Legion” with Paul Bettany...
