thrilling direction, wonderful pictures, ingenious music score

"Tom und die Biberbande" is a pleasant contrast to the muddy, uniform salsa of silly TV- soaps. thanks to director Klaus Hundsbichler for his courageous realization of this calm subject, apart of popping fun-sensations. The members of the "Biberbande" are no superheroes, but kids, who, for the duration of a summer holidays, experience a lot of every-day adventures, such as conflicts of loyalty, intrigues, disappointment or loss. there are figures with rough edges - first of all Georges Kern as a rude major is a formidable bad guy. But also they learn, that it's worth to fight united - for example for a nature, that is no longer intact! And they get an idea of something entirely unknown: maybe for the last time, they take a childlike view on the love story between biberranger tom (brilliant: Thorsten Nindel) and the veterinary Susanne (prudish charme: Julia Bremermann). 13 short movies primarily for kids! the feat of director Klaus Hundsbichler is, not to attend to the target-group in a childish stereotype of a grown-up soap. The lay-actors, taking so many pictures of animals and the great outdoors - a director could arrange for easier working conditions: Thank goodness - he didn't! A stroke of genius also is the congenial score of the duo Georg Karger and Peter Holzapfel. The two musicians created an exciting atmosphere, steadily arousing one's curiosity. There are no trivial stereotypes of amorphic synthesizer-wafting. The Danube-delta-sound of Karger and Holzapfel is a handshake between Nashville and the Balkan. I am hopefully, as soon as possible to see and hear more from this fabulous team. very, very, very, very good . . .
