Solid Ground: Crialese’s Heartfelt Message Movie
In his fourth feature film, Emanuele Crialese tackles issues of immigration and the inhumanity that transpires from man-made laws in Terraferma, a film that just as scrappily begs one to look past the heavy-handed message to be moved at the plight of the individuals it depicts. And, for those sentimentally inclined, those moments may be quite easy to forgive, even if they’re increasingly hard to ignore in its final lead up to the grand finale. Fortunately, there’s a poetic rhythm to the arresting visual compositions that couch on magical realism, and its bittersweet melancholic tone, no matter how bluntly delivered, is still an effectively realized portrait of tenuous humanity.
On Linosa, a small island off the coast of Italy, Filippo (Filippo Pucillo) is the third generation of a family of fishermen, and the industry has slowly dwindled into nothing, leaving his remaining family beleaguered.

‘The Show With Vinny’ premieres May 2 at 10 p.m.! Watch HollywoodLife.com’s interview with Vinny (and his crazy family) for a peek at the shenanigans to come.
Is Staten Island the new Hollywood? … Of course not. But thanks to Vinny Guadagnino, the number of A-listers spotted in the New York City borough has greatly increased. Stars like Lil Wayne, Ke$ha and even The Vampire Diaries‘ Kat Graham have paid a visit to the former Jersey Shore star’s house — Ok, it’s technically his mom‘s house — as guests on his new MTV series, The Show With Vinny.

The best thing you can say about The Show With Vinny — MTV’s latest Jersey Shore franchise extension — is that the concept isn’t half bad. Vinny Guadagnino was the most believable human being on the Jersey Shore cast, the only person on the show who didn’t gradually morph into a cartoonish self-parody. He was also genuinely funny — his riffs with hetero-lifemate Pauly D lent the show a slight air of self-awareness.
And there is a lot of potential in having Vinny interview the celebs in his own house, with his mom and sisters and various other relatives on...

Fans of "Jersey Shore" got a special sneak preview of Vinny Guadagnino's new series after the "MTV Movie Awards." The interview project is called "The Show With Vinny," and features Vinny interviewing various celebrities in his home ... with his family. It's certainly a unique take on the interview show.
To make sure things kicked off with an outrageous bang, the preview episode saw Vinny and his family welcoming Kesha into their home. While she was there, she treated Vinny's Uncle Nino to a glitter treatment. By the end of it, he was absolutely covered in glitter.
"“It’s really impressive," Kesha said. "This is like the beginning of the weirdest porno."
Vinny explained what makes his show special to the New York Daily News. "These huge superstars are coming into the house as regular people ... They leave the Hollywood life behind for a couple of hours," he said. "My...

Jersey Shore was 75 percent about the gang getting drunk, so it comes as no shock or surprise that during the final episode of the series, they throw a big party! Snooki, Mike, Pauly D, Sammi, Ronnie, Deena, Vinny and JWoww take over the beach by their Jersey Shore house to celebrate the end of a reality TV era, complete with Vinny's mom bringing hoards of food and Uncle Nino being his usual inappropriate self. Everything seems to be going smoothly until Snooki starts to wonder why her fiancé and baby daddy Jionni hasn't shown up yet. Watch the clip below to see if the scene ends with a big ol' fight, or Snooki screaming happily. Jersey Shore's series finale airs tonight on MTV.

As fans wave farewell to six seasons of Jersey Shore, Hollywood stars should be getting ready for The Show With Vinny, MTV’s talk show spinoff featuring Shore cast mate Vinny Guadagnino. Interviewees will be treated to an informal conversation at his home in Staten Island, New York, complete with an authentic Italian meal by his mother Paula, as well as some uncensored (and often indiscernible) comments from Uncle Nino. “I was really, really excited, mostly because it’s something that I really want to do,” he told reporters at MTV’s “Restore the Shore” fundraiser on Thursday night. “I’ve always been more

Jersey Shore star Vinny Guadagnino is getting his own spin-off on MTV. The Guido will be starring in his own food talk show where celebrities will visit his family's Staten Island home for a home cooked meal and a relaxed interview with Vinny. The series, called The Show With Vinny, will also feature his mom Paula and Uncle Nino.
"Celebrities will let their guard down to have a meal and a candid conversation about whatever comes up, complete with lots of commentary from Vinny's peanut gallery of loved ones." MTV said. "No studio or audience, just family, food, and big friggin' stars."

MTV knows we want all the "Jersey Shore" it can give us. Thus, with the end of that hit series, it's time to keep the spinoffs rolling. The newest one? "The Show with Vinny," a reality/talk show starring Vinny Guadagnino.
Yes, Vinny will soon join the ranks of Snooki, Jwoww and Pauly D with his very own show.
Unlike most talk shows, taped decorously in a studio with an audience, "The Show with Vinny" will take place entirely in the Guadagnino family home on Staten Island. With his family present. The guests will just have to put up with the commentary and questioning of Vinny's mom, Paula, and his "party boss" Uncle Nino. As the network describes the show in its press release, this new talk show will consist of "family, food and big friggin' stars."

With Jersey Shore ending next month, Vinny "The Nice One" Guadagnino has setup what's next for him: Dinner! Each episode of MTV's The Show With Vinny will feature a celebrity coming over to Vinny's Staten Island home to eat a meal with his family. (Uncle Nino better find an agent, soon.) It's a perfect program for those who think talk shows don’t have enough gabagool, mootzarell, and a third Italian American food.

Guests will be invited over for a meal and general conversation, with appearances from mother Paula, Uncle Nino and others. With Jersey Shore nearing its end, another cast member of the blockbuster reality series is staying at MTV with a new show. The network has greenlighted hybrid talk show/reality series The Show With Vinny hosted by Jersey Shore‘s Vinny Guadagnino. Executive produced by Jersey Shore mastermind SallyAnn Salsano of 495 Prods, the series will be set at Guadagnino’s family home in Staten Island, NY. The Show With Vinny, which sounds a lot like UK’s The Kumars At No. 42, combines the reality of Guadagnino’s home life with off-the-cuff and unscripted interviews with stars invited over to break bread. It will feature a host of real characters from Guadagnino’s personal life, from his ultimate hostess mother Paula to party boss Uncle Nino and more. Celebrities will share a meal and a candid conversation about whatever comes up complete with lots of commentary from Vinny’s peanut gallery of loved ones.

To the profound events in the history of Italy (the construction of the Colosseum, the Black Death), we must now add two simple words: “Jersey Shore."
The Situation, Snooki and their pals journeyed to Europe's only footwear-shaped country earlier this year, and now the fist-pumping, fight-having fruits of their labor will hit the small screen when the newest season of the reality show kicks off on Thursday (August 4) at 10 Pm Et. Italy, we're quite sure, will never be the same.
What will go down when Seaside Heights goes buck wild in the land that gave rise to Romeo, Juliet and Vito Corleone? Here are our five "Jersey Shore" hopes and dreams.

Sammi finally stood up for herself! On the March 24 season finale of Jersey Shore Sammi and Ronnie ended the episode with a mega-fight! The two broke up for good after a fight over whether Sammi and Arvin had really been texting each other. Keep in mind they’ve been broken up this entire time!
Sammi even goes so far as to get on the phone with Arvin and lie when he confronts her about making out. She just keeps repeating “No we didn’t!” But Ronnie isn’t necessarily the pick of the litter — he falls asleep at work on his last day!

"At the End of the Day" it was just another Jersey Shore episode. Nothing terrible, nothing great. Anticlimactic in a sense, after all the previous 12 weeks brought us.
Season Three provided fans plenty of laughs and some interesting drama. But it was truly the season of Ronnie and Sammi arguing, arguing and arguing some more.
These are painful individuals to watch argue, too.
A girl whose one true love is the person she sees in the mirror. A guy with so little control over himself that he flies into a borderline abusive rage on a routine basis.
It's hard to pick sides, or to want it to work out. You leave each episode wanting one or both to leave the show we you can get on with ... something else. Anything.
That's why, much as we love the show, we're happy for a hiatus right now. Like Sammi and Ronnie, we...

The "Jersey Shore" crew moved out of their summerhouse for the second time a bit bruised, somewhat more single and having held on to the same amount of cast members that entered the house in the first place.
It was an hour of fights, tears, hook ups and fist pumps - which is basically what we expect from the crew. By the end, the crew was all good - except for the on-again-off-again antics of Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola and Ronnie Magro.
Here's our take on the finale in 10 "Oh, ye-ah" moments:
1.) Sammi gets caught (Round 1) - Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino once again proved why he should be known as "The Instigation." He gets in Sammi and Ronnie's business by calling Arvin, the guy who said Sammi invited him to The Shore to hook up. He proceeded to sell her out by telling the guys that they had made out before.

Last night's Jersey Shore, while possessing the most ridiculous title in the show's brief history, was actually fairly run-of-the-mill. But that doesn't mean it wasn't fun.
Relatively free of physical altercations and Tmi references to bodily functions, "Gtf (Gym, Tan, Find Out Who Sammi Is Texting)" centered around ... see episode title.
Was Sam being shady, doggin' Ron with some dude named Arvin? Ultimately, she and Ron decided to give things another shot, and put Guido MacGyver in his place.
In addition to Sammi's shady texts, JWoww gets upset when she notices Roger acting suspicious, but later realizes her man wasn't being as dastardly as she suspected.
She'll have to eat crow over that, which sounds a lot less appealing than the feast at Vinny's family's house on Staten Island, where he made a road trip with Pauly D.
Any episode with an Uncle Nino sighting is worth watching.

In case you haven't already heard the news, "Jersey Shore" is headed to Italy next season. This is obviously amazing for many reasons, but what we're most excited about is watching our favorite guidos and guidettes trying to navigate the Italian language. After all, how else are they going to call for cabs, go grocery shopping for their Sunday dinners or perhaps, most importantly, hit on people while fist-pumping the night away in clubs? Considering how loose their English is, it will be fascinating to see them attempt to navigate Italian.
We know it won't be easy for the cast to pick up Italian on such short notice (though Pauly D suggested that he might "get a Rosetta Stone"), so we put together a handy phrase book translating some of their favorite words and phrases.

Vinny Guadagnino from MTV's hit reality series Jersey Shore is still making fun of his former castmate Angelina Pivarnick. Though the Staten Island natives did share a bed once, Vinny is clearly still not interested in the self-proclaimed "Kim Kardashian" of the island. Vinny recorded a video of his big Italian family dancing along to Angelina's "highly" anticipated new rap song "I'm Hot!" Vinny's fam definitely has the moves, but Angelina might not think crazy Uncle Nino is ready to be her backup dancer anytime soon!

This is just crazy.
Our mission is to select our five favorite moments from the second season of "Jersey Shore," but how can we choose? Where does one draw the line? Remember the time the Situation and his date picked out some pre-coital pajamas before they even went out on the town for the first time? Gross! Or the evening when nice guy Vinny was stood up by the girl he'd basically already decided would become his wife? Sad! How about JWoww's smush chart, Angelina's tampon or that poor girl's plastic cleavage enhancer floating in the hot tub?
Good times, all. But none of them make our top five. That's just the kind of season it's been.

"Final offer is standing," JWoww told E! Online last week. "Hopefully, it will go through."
Now, one of JWoww's co-stars has spoken out about the potential magazine spread, which, according to Radar Online, could drop as much as $400,000 into Jenni's bank account. Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola, who brawled with her buxom roommate on a recent episode, responded to the Playboy gossip much the same way she has responded to JWoww all season long: with disdain.
"If Jenni wants to pose for Playboy, go right ahead," she told MTV News.

Everybody on the MTV News team is really looking forward to this weekend, as it represents a much-needed and well-deserved rest for the entire team, almost all of whom are recovering from last weekend's 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. The VMAs show is the highlight of every year on the MTV News calendar, though in order to bring you all the best coverage and behind-the-scenes access, it takes a lot of work, sweat, shoe leather and skipped meals. So now that the show is behind us, we're going to put our feet up, get massages and have long brunches with our loved ones this weekend. And after that, our batteries will be recharged fully and we'll continue to knock the news out of the park on a daily basis.
So enjoy your weekend, because we really will be enjoying ours. And just in case you missed any of the awesome Vma...

'Jersey Shore' Season 2, episode 8 "All In The Family" (09/12/2010)
I can't say I dug this episode too much because friggin' Snooks was gone for about the entire second half of the episode. She made a brief appearance in the hot tub with Vinny's Crazy Uncle Nino (who only spoke gibberish), but aside from yelling at Angelina for popping her square in the face volleyball-style, my favorite Mandarin Orange was curiously mum this entire episode. What the hell?

Let us all hail Uncle Nino! All season we've been analyzing the "Jersey Shore" crew's rather eccentric way with words, but it took Vinny's wine-swilling, JWoww-ogling relative to reveal the central truth we've been circling: It's not what you say, it's how you say it.
As Vinny explained, Uncle Nino spits out a slurry stream of verbiage that only manages to make sense when he utters the final two, clear words. And it's this hilarious way with language that allows Nino — he of the wandering eye and bulging belly — to come off as charming rather than crass, a guy you want to sit next to at a family dinner rather than one you avoid at all costs.
The creative use of words to try and get away with crazy behavior — that's what the "Jersey Shore" is all about. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but it's always entertaining to watch.

We look back at the five best moments from this week's episode.
By Jim Cantiello

We can't wait for "Jersey Shore" season 45, when the Situation will no doubt begin to resemble Vinny's Uncle Nino! But for now, we'll have to settle for the top five moments from this week's episode.
5. Ain't Too Proud to Beg
The J-Shore boys talk a lot about game, and this week Vinny taught us a new technique in securing dates: beg like a pathetic dog.
Ramona said it was "cute" when Vin's invitation to dinner went like this: "It's just dinner. Please, please, please, pretty please?" But we're pretty sure you're supposed to whisper sweet nothings in girls' ears, not whimper.
4. The Ho Equation
The aftermath of Vinny and Angelina's hookup was felt throughout the house. It even made the Situation do math.

VH1 TV Shows | Music Videos | Celebrity Photos | News & Gossip After a triumphant, transcendant, and tranny-free episode of Jersey Shore aired on Thursday night — some say the best episode of the show’s relatively lackluster second season — we found ourselves once again watching our fair guidos stumbling in their attempts to conquer M.I.A. last night. With the exception of Angelina and DJ Pauly D, everyone seems to be down on their luck: After failing to convert in the bedroom, The Situation was left in the unenviable position of eating an early morning egg sandwich while watching Pauly D romp in the sack not five feet away from him; Snooki got bonked in the schnozz with an errant volleyball; the Vin Man got stood up; Sammi Sweetheart, Ron Ron and J-woww barely left their bedrooms. Fortunately, Vinny’s Uncle Nino showed up on the scene to contribute some My Blue Heaven-esque nyuk nyuk moments,...

Jersey Shore's special, pre-mtv Video Music Awards Sunday episode was another memorable installment ... for better or worse. This show is becoming as creepy as it is funny.
We know this is all one big dysfunctional, incestuous family. That's nothing new. But the cast members are taking it to a whole new level in recent weeks with the smushing.
Front row seats for a slam session? Really?
There were no blows exchanged last night. Just bodily fluids.
A major highlight of last night's episode, "All in the Family," was the arrival of Vinny's family from New York. Specifically, his partially crazy Uncle Nino, an Og (Original Guido).
Memorable Jersey Shore quotes abound, even if you can't understand what the guy's saying (a fact Vinny acknowledged). Meanwhile, Pauly D and The Situation were Dtf.
What else is new?
The big drama of the episode was the fallout from Angelina and Vinny smushing.

['Jersey Shore'- 'Bonus']
On this week's bonus episode of 'Jersey Shore' the kids gorged themselves on Mama Vinny's home cooking before sluttin' it up at the club. MTV's sleezy shore-goers bordered on filming softcore porn -- probably because this installation had little to offer in the way of a storyline.
Vinny's mom, Uncle Nino and some miscellaneous relatives were in town to shower their prodigal son with gifts (three-pack T-shirts, bottled water) and a spread of pasta, sausage, meats ... and yodels. With Mama in town the girls were inspired to help out in the kitchen while the boys hung out by the hot tub with Uncle Nino, an Og (original guido) whose speech pattern and gait had a striking resemblance to one Ozzy Osbourne.

Last night’s special episode of Jersey Shore started with Angelina walk-of-shaming away from Vinny’s increasingly-popular bed. Maybe he realized that he was becoming the human incarnation of the Community Smush room, because Vinny decided to make a change. He met a nice girl in the club, and purposefully did not make moves to smush, smash, or slam. “This is the kind of girl you take out on a date,” he explained, sounding like an archeologist describing the lost city of Atlantis. Alas for our poor openhearted Vin, Ramona the dancer turned him down. Twice. He got flowers, and he got a haircut,...
