Echevarria set for Par return
Writer-producer Rene Echevarria has inked a two-year overall deal with Paramount Network Television. As part of the pact, said to be in the seven-figure range, Echevarria will join Medium, the studio's midseason drama for NBC, while also developing other projects for the studio. On Medium, a co-production with Grammnet Prods. and Picturemaker Prods., Echevarria will serve as executive producer alongside creator Glenn Gordon Caron, Kelsey Grammer and Steve Stark. The project stars Patricia Arquette as a suburban mom who uses her psychic powers to solve crimes. The deal marks Echevarria's return to the Paramount fold, where he started his writing career on Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. It also reunites Echevarria with Caron, with whom he worked on Now and Again, Caron's acclaimed but short-lived drama series for CBS and Paramount. Echevarria most recently had a two-year deal with Touchstone and served as an executive producer on MDs, the studio's short-lived medical drama for ABC. Echevarria's resume also includes exec producing duties on Fox's Dark Angel and USA Network's 4400. He is repped by Endeavor and attorney Jamie Mandelbaum.
