Kaos has been a long-time coming. Netflix first announced it had commissioned this British dark comedy reimagining Greek mythology back in 2018, but the pandemic meant that filming only started last year, and there’s already been one major cast replacement.
And even though we’re no closer to an official release date, the impressive cast list, unique premise and solid production team make Kaos well worthy of your attention.
‘Nothing Is Sacred’ in This Bold Take On Greek Myth
Set over eight one-hour episodes, Kaos is a contemporary reimagining of Greek Mythology exploring themes of gender politics, power, and life in the underworld. The official synopsis describes how six humans will discover they’re part of an ancient prophecy:
“Zeus has a wrinkle. He’s worried it might mean the end of the world and it might. Because on Earth, six humans unaware of their importance or their connection to...

Costume dramas are certainly nothing new to Ben Daniels, having immersed himself into the world of the British Royals as Antony Armstrong-Jones, 1st Earl of Snowdon on The Crown, but Jupiter’s Legacy, and its world of spandex-clad superheroes, brings that notion to a whole new level.
The British born Daniels launched his career on the stage, where he found himself nominated for one award after another, taking home the Olivier Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2001 for Arthur Miller’s All My Sons. Eight years later he made the move to Broadway. But he’s another of the actors in this cast that has pretty consistently shifted media, in his case stage appearances alternating with films and television (guest appearances and starring roles on Cutting It and Law & Order: UK.)

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “American Horror Story: Cult,” Season 7, Episode 11, “Great Again” — the season finale.]
As one cult comes to an end, another begins.
So goes “American Horror Story: Cult,” the ambitious seventh season of Ryan Murphy’s acclaimed horror franchise. After spending an entire season examining a Trump stand-in’s reign of terror, the ending ominously hinted at a new king — well, a new queen. Ally (Sarah Paulson) took down Kai (Evan Peters), stole his senate seat, and began her own quest for greater power — with the help of “some very special, very powerful friends who are going to bring about the better world we were talking about.”

When the first-look photos for “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story” originally popped up, it underlined how perfectly cast Edgar Ramirez is as the title character.
FX has revealed the premiere date for the the latest installment of the network’s anthology series — Jan. 17 — as well as a brand-new trailer. And it’s a lot more than photos of lounging by the pool.
The “American Crime Story” series, which successfully highlighted the O.J. Simpson trial saga last year and will take on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in its third season, will tackle the 1997 murder of fashion designer and cultural icon Gianni Versace next. In addition to Ramirez as Versace, Penelope Cruz as Gianni’s sister Donatella Versace, Darren Criss as serial killer Andrew Cunanan and Ricky Martin as Gianni Versace’s partner Antonio D’Amico.

They all float down here. Except, apparently, on Los Angeles Unified School District campuses.
For the second year in a row, the LAUSD has banned all clown costumes and masks for Halloween. That includes, of course, what’s expected to be the most popular Halloween costume of the year: Pennywise, from the blockbuster smash thriller “It.”
Clowns are actually having a moment in pop culture, as FX’s hit series “American Horror Story: Cult” is crawling with them. (And, of course, had previously introduced the now-iconic clown Twisty on “American Horror Story: Freak Show.”) Krusty the Clown from “The Simpsons” and Zach Galiafianakis’ Chip Baskets continue on the comedy side.
And even reality competition shows aren’t immune to a little song, a little dance, a little seltzer down your pants, as “Puddles Pity Party” (real name: Mike Geier) was a contender on this year’s “America’s Got Talent.

Comic Books: The DC Universe-then And Now!
Recently I wrote an article for introducing new readers to the world of Batman. The purpose of the article was to help new and casual readers find strong starting points in the characters 75+ years of publication to begin reading. It was suggested that perhaps to coincide with these types of articles; it would be helpful to have a sort of reference point for major content-altering events in the DC Comics Universe, along with perhaps a quick glossary of some key words used in the Comic Book Vernacular. My goal here will be to hopefully give a brief but well-presented breakdown of the DC Universe from inception to the current state. Keep in mind this will only be covering the major continuity/time altering events, and will not each and every company event that’s been published.

Let me preface this by saying that I supported the 2007-08 Writers Guild of America Strike. Without its writers, a television show doesn’t exist. It’s that simple. However, that doesn’t mean that the Writers’ Strike didn’t take many precious hours away from me.
Through the years, I’ve had many television obsessions, but when it comes to pure quality and the question of the best show ever made, there are two particular names that pop into my head: Friday Night Lights and Breaking Bad. I love them both, and I think both did downright remarkable things with storytelling in television.

With Matt Smith officially on his way out after three seasons as "Doctor Who," speculation is running rampant as to who will land the coveted role of the Twelfth Doctor.
Theories range from the wacky (former companion Billie Piper!?) to the preposterous (Benedict Cumberbatch, who is a little busy making a ton of movies, not to mention "Sherlock"), but the frontrunners have narrowed down to a credible bunch.
Topping the list is "Law & Order UK" star Ben Daniels (pictured above, left), who at 48 years old would be a notable departure from recent younger Doctors including the youngest ever, Smith. Best known for his work in British TV (including "Cutting It," "The State Within" and "Merlin") and theater, Daniels also recently co-starred as Adam Galloway on Netflix's "House of Cards."

Based largely off of the first half of George R.R. Martin’s behemoth of a book, A Storm of Swords (which is longer than the entirety of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings trilogy!), the third season of HBO’s Game of Thrones brings all of the plot lines, character beats, and thematic developments from the first two years to a climatic head.

The CBS adaptation of Stephen King’s Under The Dome is still being filmed down in Wilmington Nc, and it’s set to air on the network on June 14th! Cutting it a little close? Maybe not but it sure feels like it. At least the action will be fresh and there will be little if any time for anything to leak onto the net before the premiere.

Another week and another new rating for William Friedkin's Killer Joe, or should I say Killer Joe: A Twisted Redneck Trailer Park Murder Story. The DVD and Blu-ray for Killer Joe will be released on December 21 in an unrated form and I have to assume this new, R-rated cut will be released in Walmart stores and similar outlets that don't want to release unrated material with graphic nudity and violence. The more interesting thing about the decision to cut it down to an R brings me back to my interview with Friedkin in which I asked him about the Nc-17 rating and he said: Cutting would not have made it mass appeal. Cutting it would have been the equivalent of what members of the United States government and military leaders said about the Vietnam War. They said, "We have to destroy Vietnam in order to save it," and...

Emile Hirsch and William Friedkin on the set of Killer Joe
Photo: Ld Entertainment Anyone paying attention to film knows the name of William Friedkin. The Chicago-born director is best known for The French Connection with its iconic chase sequence and The Exorcist, a film Friedkin frequently avoids referring to as a horror film and more as an exploration of faith and yet, nevertheless, it's often considered one of the best horror films ever made, if not the best. While these are certainly Friedkin's best known films there is more to his career than just two feature films and he's bringing another one to theaters this year with Killer Joe, an Nc-17 rated darkly comedic thriller based on the Tracy Letts stage play starring Matthew McConaughey, Emile Hirsch, Juno Temple, Gina Gershon and Thomas Haden Church. The film had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival in September 2011 and...

What better way to remind us of some recent international history than assemble a brilliantly-acted, emotionally engaging testament to it? The release of Icíar Bollaín’s Even the Rain is timely not because it dredges up memories of the 2000 Cochabamba water protests in Bolivia, but because the dogged issue of utility privatisation is just now arising once again in the country. Bolivian President Evo Morales’ controversial nationalisation of a subsidiary power company has re-opened the 2000 discourse, and the serendipitous arrival of Bollain’s film consequently provides plenty of food for thought.
Lusi Tosar, who impressed as a vicious prison inmate in Cell 211, plays fastidious film producer Costa, travelling to Bolivia with his young, idealistic director Sebastián (Gael García Bernal) to shoot a contentious picture about Christopher Columbus’ conquest. While recruiting local extras for their film, they become embroiled in the ongoing water conflict between the citizens and the state,...

Transformers Prime: Music From The Animated Series – Season One
Music by Brian Tyler | Published by Lakeshore Records
Review by TFG1Mike from Gcrn
So I got an email from Phil that said: “Wondered if you be interested in something we’ve just been sent for review? I was hoping you or one of the team would be up for reviewing the soundtrack to Transformers Prime? We’ve just been sent a download link for it, and seeing as you’re the Tf experts I thought it would be right up your street!”
I nearly fainted from excitement! Ever since the news that this was being released, I’ve been dying for it! I’ve heard Brian Tyler’s music in the past, in such films as Fast Five, The Expendables, Paparazzi, and games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Transformers Prime Ost earned Tyler the Emmy Award for...

Denzel Washington is a fine, fine actor. But his movie titles? They lie to us. They lie to us a lot...
I fully appreciate that it’s not an easy job to come up with a sellable title for a film. In an ideal world, it has to convey the subject of what the movie is about, and also be catchy enough, for good reasons, for us to remember.
However, I sat down to watch the new Denzel Washington/Ryan Reynolds flick Safe House last week, and it immediately became clear – and this is only telling you something that’s in the trailer – that the house in question didn’t appear to be very safe at all. Truthfully, it wouldn't be much of a movie if it was.
I then started considering some of the more recent Denzel Washington movies I’d seen of late, and, well, here’s my scientific research.

Ryan Gosling, nominated for two awards, was nowhere to be seen on Sunday night's star-studded Golden Globes in Beverly Hills. George Clooney, Gosling's "Ides of March" co-star, said on the red carpet, "It's too bad he's not here. I wish he was. But if he showed up he might just be too good-looking to handle." It is speculated Gosling's hectic shooting schedule prevented him from attending the festivities.

There’s a helpful recap of the premise at the top—that Bridget witnessed a murder, ran rather than testify at the trial to her twin sister Siobhan, who killed herself (or so Bridget thinks). And everyone in Siobhan’s life—her husband and lover and best friend—think she’s Siobhan, because Siobhan never mentioned having a twin to anybody.
At the end of the pilot, Bridget killed someone in self-defense in her loft that was being remodeled by her best friend Gemma,...

Because it seems virtually impossible to write about anything this weekend without bringing Harry Potter into it, let's get it over with. The wizard is set to smash nearly every opening weekend record: $43.5 million for midnight screenings, and $92.1 million in the first day. It's put a stake in the heart of that sparkling vampire on those records, and looks to clip the wings of The Dark Knight, which grossed merely $158 million in its opening weekend. Potter is on track to rake in $187 million.
In a truly odd ruling issued minutes after the court closed for the weekend, the Ninth Circuit split the difference on Don't Ask, Don't Tell, reinstating the stay that keeps the law on the books, but barring the military from investigating or separating soldiers under the law. I really can't imagine how much uncertainty this creates for people who just want to serve their country.
But in San Diego,...

My first memory of seeing a movie made was watching Beau Bridges take an axe and violently smash paintings in his living room on the set of a movie called “Dragonfly” (later “One Summer Love”), starring Beau, Susan Sarandon and directed by my father, Gil Cates. Stale turkey sandwiches. That's one of the things I most link with Christmas. Forget your crackers and tinsel or your mince pies and Tunis Cakes, or even your Slades and Band Aids, no, it's the thought of the stale turkey sandwiches that lingers in the mind. Simply because the turkey's invariably so big, that it's enough to feed the family for those come-down days from December 26th. And so the family gets that familiar Déjà vu, to the point where summer can't come fast enough.
There's a similar sort of feeling among some of the Doctor Who fans when it comes to The Runaway Bride. For the uninitiated, I'm not talking about the screwball comedy starring Richard Gere, Julia Roberts and Julia Roberts' huge mouth – no, this is the second all-important Doctor Who Christmas special, which was now becoming the big festive treat of the season. A common complaint...

Today, Mark Ruffalo says hello to a monster and goodbye to some demons. “It’ll be a very auspicious day for me,” says the new star of The Avengers. “It’ll be the first day as The Hulk and the last day of, uh, sort of birthing my baby.”
That baby: a passion project he has lived with for over a decade, Sympathy For Delicious, an indie drama about a paraplegic faith-healer whose mystical powers work on everyone but him, sending him from the path of a prophet to a pariah. It opens today in New York and Los Angeles.

Amanda Holden has confessed her fear that Britain's Got Talent will one day "run out" of credible acts. The Cutting It actress, who returned to TV screens for a fifth series of the ITV talent show tonight, stated her surprise that impressive hopefuls are still continuing to turn out for auditions. Speaking on the return of Paul O'Grady Live, Holden said: "They are always amazing. Every year, because we're such a small country, I think we're going to run out [of talented acts and] nothing's going to surprise me... It's completely the opposite of that, we have a brilliant time. "We have weird people croqueting and fire eating at the same time... I think this year if I was going to put money on it, I think a child will win this year. Personally, I would like (more)...
