Studio based concert, part of a series
This performance was, I think, recorded in a TV studio and formed part of a strand of late night concerts on the ITV network in the UK. The set kicks off with Blind Before I Stop and carries on with some of Meat's newer (at the time) material, such as Execution Day and Rock N Roll Mercenaries, before taking in classic tracks such as Dead Ringer and the inevitable Bat Out of Hell.
Meat is in great form throughout, putting everything into his performance as usual, including some cheesy by-play with the backing singers, and the band match his enthusiasm during what must have been a difficult set. The stage itself is a tiny affair and the audience are crammed tight into the studio, which makes for a very hot and sweaty performance from the man himself.
Nevertheless, he puts on a powerful performance vocally and physically, even falling flat on his face during Bat Out of Hell, I think after tripping over a monitor, before ending it all by tossing his faulty mike stand into the audience and walking coolly into the wings.
Classic Meat Loaf. Somebody get this out on DVD!
