Tucker says Harry was transferred to Twiddly Junction in November. By the time of Scare Dares (1991), set the next year, Tanya writes in her letter that he was transferred to Fort Farley.
Tucker says the pine tree was delivered on the Rainbow Sun, the train that is mentioned in theme song of Shining Time Station (1989).
The credits showed footage of the Locomotive #16 in the Grand Canyon Railway in Williams, Arizona, which is also the "Northern Star" heard outside the station. It ended up in the Mt. Hood Railroad in Oregon.
Upon release on VHS, the Thomas stories in this special were rearranged. Thomas' Christmas Party was made the first story, while Thomas & The Missing Christmas Tree became the second story. As Sir Ringo Starr never created a U.S. version of the latter, the original U.K. soundtrack was used, but all dialogue including the phrase "Fat Controller" was removed.
Leonard Jackson was unavailable to reprise his role of Harry, so a new character named Tucker (Ardon Bess), who was Harry's cousin, was created to fill in for him.
