Robert Rodriguez began his impressive film career as a “one man film crew”, serving as director, screenwriter, producer, cinematographer and editor for his first independent feature, the Spanish language actioner "El Mariachi." As his success grew, so did his appetite as a filmmaker and soon he would movie beyond his style of guerrilla filmmaking and form his own company, Troublemaker Studios. Rodriguez controlled and produced many successful projects which include the "Spy Kids" trilogy, two sequels to "El Mariachi" and the cult favorite "Sin City," adapted from the graphic novel series by Frank Miller. But the success of one project in particular surprised even Rodriguez, because it was never meant to be a feature at all.2007's "Grindhouse" was a collaboration between Rodriguez and his longtime friend Quentin Tarantino that was meant to be an homage to the cheesy double bill B-movies of the seventies.
