Der Sender Vox gibt einen genaueren Ausblick auf die Programm-Highlights der kommenden Monate, nachdem beim Screenforce Festival schon der grobe Fahrplan vorgegeben wurde. Es wird eine Mischung aus Altbewährtem und neuen Shows wie „The Piano“ und „Sing meinen Schlager“.

Seit dem 1. Januar ist Kirsten Petersen vom Posten der Unterhaltungschefin zur neuen Programmgeschäftsführerin des Senders Vox aufgestiegen und verantwortet auch die strategische und inhaltliche Weiterentwicklung. 4,2 Prozent beim Gesamtpublikum und 5,8 Prozent in der klassischen Zielgruppe schlagen 2024 bislang zu Buche. Damit ist der Sender bei den Jüngeren knapp vor dem Erzfeind Sat.1, beim Gesamtpublikum ebenso knapp zurück. In der erweiterten Zielgruppe der 14- bis 59-Jährigen, die Rtl Deutschland inzwischen als maßgeblich für seine Sendergruppe ansieht, hatte Vox im ersten Halbjahr 5,7 Prozent, damit zwar 0,5 Prozentpunkte weniger als noch 2023, aber immerhin 0,3 Prozentpunkte vor dem Konkurrenten Sat.1.

Nacho Vigalondo’s Daniela Forever, starring Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding, will open the Toronto Film Festival’s Platform competition program with a world premiere.
The Madrid-set sci-fi romancer has Golding playing Nicolas, a man grieving after the sudden death of his girlfriend (Beatrice Grannò) six months earlier and taking part in a clinical trial for a drug that reunites him with his former lover via lucid dreams, only to leave him obsessed with a fantasy world. XYZ financed the indie from the Spanish filmmaker Vigalondo, who is best known for movies like Timecrimes and Colossal, starring Anne Hathaway and Jason Sudeikis.
Toronto unveiled in all 10 features with world premieres for the festival section where international films outside of the Hollywood studio orbit compete.

Exclusive: XYZ Films, Wayward Entertainment, and Resolute Films have wrapped on the horror pic Svalta with This Way Up actor Aisling Bea and Nick Frost leading.
The pic, written and starring Nick Frost, has just wrapped production in Tampere, Finland, with post-production currently underway in the UK. Plot follows a family on their summer vacation to a remote island where they discover a serial killer is on the loose. Unfortunately for them, the locals have no interest in helping the stranded family. The title is taken from the name of the fictional island. Directing is Steffen Haars (New Kids Turbo). Cast is rounded out by Sebastian Croft (Heartstopper) and newcomer Maisie Ayres.
Lena Headey (Game Of Thrones) had previously been attached to the pic but stepped back due to what has been described as scheduling conflicts. She was replaced by Bea.
