The late 1990s and early 2000s were a weird era for films. There is definitely an influence from Y2K, and it seemed like there was an attitude that anything goes from some and a tightening of the belt from others. The world was in an odd place, and this influenced everything in culture like music, television, and films. 2002 gave us a wide variety of horror, like Queen of the Damned, Fear Dot Com, Cabin Fever, Bubba Ho-Tep, Dog Soldiers, and Bloody Mallory. This was the end of an era and the start of another for David Arquette it seemed. A time when he tested the “leading man” waters. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite go as planned as box office bomb after box office bomb came. Films like Ravenous, Ready to Rumble, 3000 Miles to Graceland, See Spot Run, and The Grey Zone all featured Arquette in some form but...

Milla Jovovich doesn’t always fight gross looking zombies in front of the camera. Sometimes she plays the victim, too. She does just that in “Bloody Mallory” director Julien Magnat’s Hollywood debut, the thriller “Faces in the Crowd”. “Crowd” has Jovovich playing a woman strapped with a condition called “face-blindness” after she survives an attack by a serial killer. As she lives with her condition, one in which people’s facial features change each time she loses sight of them, the killer realizes she’s the only one who has ever seen his face, and closes in to finish the job. The film stars Jovovich and “Nip/Tuck’s” Julian McMahon, and is well into shooting. First images from the movie from Kino (via Styd).

To drum up some excitement and investor funding for Faces in the Crowd , Voltage Pictures cobbled together a "mood reel" to give people an idea of what's to come when the final product is put together. If you recall, the thriller is set to star Milla Jovovich and will be directed by Julien Magnat of the French offering Bloody Mallory . The story centers on a woman who barely survives an attack by a serial killer and wakes up in hospital with a head injury that leaves her "face-blind." No longer able to recognize faces, she must navigate a world in which facial features change each time she loses sight of them. All the while the killer is closing in, determined to eliminate the potential witness. Love seeing promo reels like this. It makes the production...

Milla Jovovich isn't done with the horror/thriller genre once The Fourth Kind and Resident Evil:Afterlife comes out. Variety reports that Jovovich will star in Faces in the Crowd, the English-language debut for writer/director Julien Magnat (Bloody Mallory).
Jovovich will play a woman that barely survived an attack from a serial killer and ends up in a hospital suffering from a real affliction called prosopagnosia, which makes recognizing faces impossible. Meanwhile, the killer is stalking her. "Julien has written a breathtaking thriller that is truly original, and I was hooked from the first read," said producer Scott Mednick.
Sounds like a plotline that Dario Argento is kicking himself for not coming up with first.
Shooting on Faces in the Crowd begins next March.

Milla Jovovich is clearly not done doing a lot of screaming. First she's got the thriller The Fourth Kind coming out, in which she has some too-close encounter with aliens, and now she's signed on for Faces in the Crowd, a "psychological thriller" from writer-director Julien Magnat, who has on his resume the horror farce Bloody Mallory. According to Variety, Jovovich will play a woman who loses the ability to recognize faces after being attacked by a serial killer. After she's released from the hospital, of course, the serial killer closes in on her, forced to try to kill her even though, duh, she won't recognize him. What does it mean when you can see a plot hole in the movie just from reading a brief description? Of course I jest-- I'm at least hoping that they'll come up with a way to make this feel plausible. And the story...

Milla Jovovich, last seen being stalked by a Hawaiian killer in The Perfect Getaway and currently being stalked by zombies in Resident Evil: Afterlife, is all set to be stalked by another killer in Faces In The Crowd, a serial killer drama with a rather nifty twist. The catch this time is that Jovovich's character is attacked by a killer who's interrupted before he can finish the whole death-dealing bit, and left with a brain injury that leaves her unable to properly recognise and remember faces. That's based on a real condition called prosopagnosia (although we still don't recommend going into the film looking for accurate medical detail), and proves a real handicap for her character given that the killer still wants to eliminate her as a witness. Can she tell friend from foe in time? Will the killer's evil plan succeed? Would it help if all her friends wore false moustaches?...

Variety reports that Milla Jovovich, the Resident Evil series star soon to be seen in Universal’s paranormal thriller The Fourth Kind (pictured), will topline Faces In The Crowd for Forecast Pictures, Radar Films and Minds Eye Entertainment. The film marks the English-language directorial debut of French filmmaker Julien Magnat, who also scripted.

As the features of other people change to her every time she sees them, the murderer continues to stalk her, determined to finish the job. Magnat previously wrote and directed the femme-monster-slayer saga Bloody Mallory; Faces, set to roll in March, will be produced by Stomp The Yard director Sylvain White, Jean-Charles Levy, Clement Miserez, Kevin DeWalt and Scott Mednick, who tells the trade, “Julien has written a breathtaking thriller that is truly original,...

Milla Jovovich is about to go from fighting zombies to fighting alien abductions back to zombies and now, a serial killer. And oh yeah, she’s developed quite the problem after her encounter with said serial killer in Julien Magnat’s psychological thriller “Faces in the Crowd”. The actress has signed on to star in Julien Magnat’s first English-language film. Magnat, who also wrote the script, was responsible for the 2002 French horror-comedy “Bloody Mallory”, which was a bloody (ahem) good time. “Faces in the Crowd” has Jovovich playing a woman who is the first to survive an attack by a serial killer. She wakes up in hospital with a very specific head injury, one that leaves her “face-blind.” It’s apparently a real neurological disorder called prosopagnosia. Oooh, fancy word. But what does it mean? Being “face-blind” means our heroine can no longer recognize faces, because people’s facial...

If there’s one country we should all be keeping our eyeballs on for hot new horror, it’s France. I never thought I would write those words, but I just can’t argue with the evidence; there’s a lot of good stuff coming from our French brothers & sisters these days. Could Humans be the next one?
The boys at B-d got a look at the new poster for Humans, and it’s one of those eye-trick art pieces. At first glance you see a woman walking into a cave (well, I did), but take a step back and it’s actually they eye socket of ... something. Ape? Alien? Monster?
How's about some Humans plot? A team of several researchers travel to the Swiss Alps to investigate a scientific discovery on human evolution. The trip, however, turns into a deadly fight for survival when the team crash into a...
