Enjoyable Parody of the Blair Witch Project Featuring Scooby and the gang.
dbibb1 December 2001
The Scooby Doo Project was a Cartoon Network feature that was originally shown in pieces between shows and commercials. The work is a takeoff on the Blair Witch Project and featured brief clips of those meddling kids arriving in the woods to investigate strange events only to have things start to go wrong. The show was then supposed to be shown in its entirety. For some reason the network did not include all of the filmed sequences, especially interesting was the missing sequence in which Scrappy shows up and the gang is not happy, one character asking, `Who invited him?' A nice little parody well executed. I would love to get a copy of the entire group of sequences they made.

Fun Mash-up of Scooby-Doo and the Gang with The Blair Witch Project
Reviews_of_the_Dead14 October 2021
This short film here is interesting. I didn't realize that this was done by Cartoon Network where they were spoofing The Blair Witch Project. I put it together by the name, but this was done for a Scooby-Doo marathon in October. It appeared it would be shown going to and back from commercials, which is creative. It also follows many of the plot points would get in an episode of their show and mixing that with the movie it is parodying as well.

What I will say is that I enjoyed that. I didn't love that some of the voices don't match up to what I remember them, but I'm more akin to the original series from the 1960's and I believe into the 1970's. They aren't bad though, I want to establish. I like seeing Velma, Fred, Daphne, Shaggy and Scooby-Doo taking on the characters from The Blair Witch Project. Seeing them nag each other and what not is funny. This showed that those behind it knew what they were doing.

It's not great, but it is a fun fast watch for those that are Scooby-Doo fans for sure.

The Scooby-Doo Project - Extended Version

A meta live-action/animated hybrid comedy Halloween television special satirising The Blair Witch Project. This project was way ahead of its time.

i love this parody so much

The full version is about 30 minutes rather than 10. It has so many funny and iconic scenes that i come back to, an unexpected gem. The voice actors made this spoof for fun and it's a very authentic freestyle scooby doo. It's one of my favorites of scooby doo and i watch it when i want a laugh. I think it's pretty underrated. The voice lines are so raw and memorable. This is somehow a realistic take on scooby doo and i appreciate it as part of the young adult audience. It's absolutely hilarious and brilliant. It has the feel of a comical short film made with your best pals, but by the original scooby doo voice actors.

The Scooby-Doo Project

Absolutely hilarious. So many brilliant moments, it wasn't particularly scary but the back drop did help with the mood. It is important to remember that they couldn't make it that scary because of the target audience. The monster itself didn't scare me at all, not that anyone would have expected it too, being 19 one doesn't get scared of Scooby-Doo villains and it'd be embarassing if I did.

I do however genuinely laugh out loud at so many moments in this: Scrappy-Doo's apperance so many funny Daphne lines. Everything was brilliant.

My brother and I have always loved Scooby doo. I heard about this and thought I HAVE TOO WATCH THIS! I waited for it to get dark and I watched it. I thought it was so funny it was everything I loved about Scooby doo! I thought it was so funny how they hid from scrappy and made fun of some of Velma losing her glasses and Scooby's voice and the doors I just thought it was the best! I laughed out loud and even though it was 2:00am and my whole family was sleeping! ITS ON YOUTUBE WATCH IT!!!!!!!!!

Awesome short

This is really interesting and I find myself wanting to watch it again. I really didn't like how they treated each other but it follows it's source code of what Scooby Doo was all about. I truly believe that the real atmosphere really highlights the spooky twist to the story, keeping myself on edge. As a Scooby Doo fan I found this plot very fascinating. The humor is really for both kids and adults . Overall, story is an fantastic addition to the franchise and a must watch for all fans of the classic cartoon. Whether your a long time fan or new to the world of Scooby Doo, this Halloween special is sure to be a treat.

Something's missing

Warning: Spoilers
The Blair Witch project is my favorite horror movie of all time. I love it when the horror stems from the invisible and never fails to scare me to death. I also watched many Scooby Doo episodes back in the day and genuinely enjoyed most of these. So this could only work out nicely, right? Unfortunately not. I thought the outcome here was neither particularly scary nor funny and the combination of the cartoon characters and real life setting and people worked occasionally very fine, but sometimes also not at all.

The only really scary thing with this project is that notable voice actress (South Park, Hunchback etc.) Mary Kay Bergman committed suicide shortly after this was released. What a shame. Nonetheless, it has interesting aspects from both projects that it spoofs, it's just missing the final ingredient that could have made me enjoy it equally. If you're into either of the two, I'd recommend it, otherwise give these 10 minutes a pass.
