A Dream Cast Indeed!
I watched and listened to different productions & CD recordings of King & I and this is indeed a dream cast.
Vocally, Lea Salonga(Tuptim), Marilyn Horne(Lady Thiang), and Peabo Bryson (Lun Tha) are probably the best cast ever. Their voice quality is superb - Lea Salonga has this angelic soprano voice; Marilyn Horne's contralto and operatic style is always giving me goose bumps; Peabo Bryson's voice sounds heroic...
Julie Andrews rendition as Anna is exceptional. I'm not impressed with her voice quality but as an actress and performer, she probably did the best interpretation of Anna. I can't comment on Ben Kingsley as the role of The King can be judged only on the acting ability in my opinion. The King does not have a good song so it's hard to judge the singer's vocal talent when performing that role.
