The worst movie I've ever seen
inju21 January 2003
I don't know where to start but one thing is for sure, this is the worst film I've ever seen.

The plot is everything but good (a guy wakes up to find out that he has "lost" his penis), the acting is poor - Joop for example mumbles his lines which makes it sometimes very hard to understand him at all - and the few attempts to be fun (Jekyll tries to have sex even without his penis) simply fail.

I really started to like German movies in the last some years but if this is the new German style I just have to stick to Hollywood productions.

strange but worth watching

This is a really strange movie, but still it is very unique. Like most other films that try to be strange, this one really is it. And the cast of characters is well chosen. We have Wolgang Joop as a gay psychiatrist, which gives his debut as an actor. Not to forget the leading actor, edgar selge, who is awesome! The movie deals with the most inner fears of men: being impotent, loosing hairs and teeth. i rate this flick with 7/10. Watch it!

cool, kafkaesk artwork

I do not know, why so many people rate this film that low. I think it has a brilliant strange plot, and lots of really sick and disturbing scenes. I think that this is one of the weirdest german films I've ever seen. Almost every second scene contains certain elements, which I haven't yet seen in any film, let it be elements of latent sexuality (some would surely rate it as irritating sexual content) or merely cool, low jokes. Every bit gave lots of joy. See this film !

Heard of Freud?

If the answer is yes, then the entry fee alone to this movie is about all it will amount to, in real terms since there are highlights to be found in the shadow side of the director's own misgivings ( I only suppose about the title ) but as for the plot? Well who has not ever lost it even just for a moment. For in time, I found the novelty of the title, quite a secret giveaway about the kind of expectation and judgement that is provoked by film analysis. How we view the movie is our attitudinal response, conditioned upon so much, that this film merited my fullest attention. Thankful of the reminder this review gives to me, I would say 7 from 10 Marks, is a generous mark, since I am fascinated by the differences of opinion. It is sure to strike a great conversation.

One word. Wow.

This is definitely the feel good movie of the year with powerful performances from Hannelore Elsner and Katja Flint. This movie just was a rollercoaster ride of emotion from the moment you meet the dick suckers all the way to their final showdown. With some very funny moments, such as the "teenie weenie penis" scene and the dick just can't fit scene, this movie has Oscar written all over it. The soundtrack was also incredible with some very mood setting music. This truly is one of the greatest movies ever made.

Not a comedy
moos-944-9193028 January 2011
Do you know how to deal with the subject 'midlife crisis'? Maybe you are one of those people who often makes a remark like "He's probably in his midlife crisis."? Well,a midlife crisis is not a comedy; it's a difficult subject. Roehler made a great effort to make it easier for all of us. He treated this subject with the same intensity as he did one year earlier making his sober and black-and-white 'Die Unberührbare'. This time the subject asked for exaggeration and lots of colors. His forceful use of all the possibillities cinema has to offer shines new light on all the clichés that tell the story of 'Suck my dick'. Roehler displays a main character vulnerable to the laughs of the cinema audience who believe the remark mentioned above is a really funny joke. But in the end, when the main character finds salvation because he doesn't need others to measure and know himself anymore, the laugh is on them. The audience who understand the power of cinema will be pleasantly surprised; this film doesn't show a special person with a special story but the totally average, middle-aged guy and he is ever the more interesting, the whole film through.
