Comedian Mark Critch shared his insights on his autobiographical TV series Son of a Critch, adapted from his memoir, in his new uInterview.
Son of a Critch follows Critch in his younger years, played by 15-year-old Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, as he comes of age in St. John’s, N.L., in the 1980s.
“The book is all about my life growing up in Newfoundland, Canada, which is on the East Coast of Canada,” Critch told uInterview founder Erik Meers. “We owned our dominion before we joined Canada in 1949 as a fishing place. The fishery was king.”
He continued, “The book was with Penguin Random House and did quite well then my friend. Tim Mcaullife, who was a writer for The Office, said, ‘We should make this into a TV show,’ so we pitched that and we did and here we are three seasons later. “

Ian Somerhalder is reaching Mystic Falls’ city limis.
As The Vampire Diaries cast prepares to bid farewell to the show, the actor tells People he’s ready to close this chapter of his life in order to open a few more.
“It’s the end of a very cool era,” says Somerhalder, 37. “It will be quite an incredible feat to shoot that last scene and know that we’re completing almost eight years of work on a television show.”
Graduating from love triangles and neck bites, Somerhalder shares he’s “very much looking forward to creating and producing more stories” with wife Nikki Reed.

How to Be Deadly
Written by Edward Riche & Nik Sexton
Directed by Nik Sexton
Canada, 2014
How to be Deadly is proof that in the right hands, you can make a great movie from a comedy sketch. The film is delightful, clever, and very funny.
Normally, the phrase – feature length comedy based off a YouTube persona – does not inspire confidence. After all, movies based on Saturday Night Live skits are usually worse than movies based on video games. How to Be Deadly is a welcome exception to this rule. The film joins Wayne’s World and The Blues Brothers as one of the few comedies that are better than their source material.
How to Be Deadly, based on the 2012 short film of the same name, is the story of Donnie Dumphy (Leon Parsons), a fictional cult hero, Canadian YouTube sensation, and the LeBron James of mini bike riding. Throughout the film...

Deadwood is definitely in the news today at BoomTron! We just reported on the lovely link between the FX network and hiring Deadwood alumni actors. Now, Showtime is getting in on the fun! “Ex-Deadwood heroine” Molly Parker now, according to our friends at TV Line, “will appear in several Season 6 episodes of the Showtime drama as Lisa Marshall, the sister of Colin Hanks’ mysterious new character, Travis.” Interesting!
Hanks will appear in all 12 episodes of Dexter‘s sixth season as a brilliant expert on ancient artifacts who somehow becomes linked to a series of grisly murders in Miami. It remains unclear if Travis will turn out to be a friend or foe of a certain Dark Passenger. Either way, as Showtime president David Nevins recently told TVLine, this year’s installment “ is not [about] one big bad.”

SYDNEY -- Darclight Films, the recently launched horror label of Australian production and international sales outfit Arclight, announced on Tuesday the preproduction of Beowulf, a medieval fantasy adventure loosely based on the 9th century poem of the same name. The budget is slated at about $15 million, Darclight said. The film, a blood-soaked tale of a Norse hero's battle with deadly monster, is to star Scott Speedman in the lead role. Written and co-produced by Canadian Andrew Rai Berzins, Beowulf will be directed by Iceland's Sturla Gunnarsson (Such a Long Journey, Rare Birds). A co-production of Canada, the United Kingdom and Iceland, the film will be shot in Iceland once casting is complete. Producers include Paul Stephens and Eric Jordan of the Film Works of Canada, Michael Lionello Cowan and Jason Piette of the Spice Factory in the U.K. and Fridrik Thor Fridriksson of the Icelandic Film Corp. Darclight will executive produce and handle international sales.
