Good final twist, but the rest is forgettable

"Geteiltes Leid" is a German 15-minute short film from 15 years ago. The writer and director is Ivar Leon Menger. However, he and evenmoreso his co-writer, have not worked too much in film anymore in the 21 century. Same can be said about Sven Wisser and the actress who plays the corpse. The big star here, however, is Florian Lukas. He (only in his early 20s) was already a very prolific actor when this was made, with a respectable body of work under his belt, and afterward he even appeared in films like Goodbye Lenin, for which he also won a German Film Award.

A man calls another man and tells him that he killed somebody. First of all Lukas' character thinks it's a joke and asks the guy to talk to him the next day, but then the conversation develops and actually the caller is the one who says he'd rather hang up now and he does not want the police to come to his location etc. It's actually a decent premise for a solid psychological thriller, even if it is just a short film, but the writing and performances never make this one a memorable watch. as I wrote in the description, the final plot twist is interesting, but it cannot make up for the boring 14 minutes before. Not recommended.
