The Warhammer 40k universe is massive and spans across a large number of video games. The latest title in the popular franchise, Space Marine 2, has been out for quite some time now and fans have loved the game and everything it has in store in them.
With over 30 years of history, players may see much about the wider Warhammer 40k universe in the latest title. The game brings a lot of the franchise’s original elements and below are the seven Space Marine 2 Easter eggs and references that fans must look for.
7. Greenskin Orks
Greenskins, which are also known as Orks, are the main enemies of the Imperium. In the early stages of the Campaign in Space Marine 2, the Ultramarines are joking around with one saying that they have had “more civilized conversations with Orks.”
Although the Greenskins are not in Space Marine 2, this is a reference to the Orks.

The Space Marine franchise carries on its battle against the dark forces of the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Picking up hundreds of years after the original, Space Marine 2 sees veteran Ultramarine Titus demoted to Lieutenant as he leads a new squad into war. This long-awaited sequel arrives with high ambitions to strengthen the brotherhood of its characters while delivering an authentic Warhammer experience at an epic new scale.

Warhammer 40K fans have had to be patient, but after 13 long years, we finally have the sequel and continuation to Titus’ last outing, but has it been worth the wait?
The short answer to that question is yes, very much so, but the longer, more complex one may surprise you even more. Thanks to Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive, I was lucky enough to get my hands on a review copy, and the last two weeks have been full of Tyranid-shooting, and Chaos-smashing fun over the three modes currently available.
The Campaign Isn’t an Afterthought
In a gaming era of single-player campaigns being tacked on as an afterthought, forgotten about completely, or being a broken and buggy waste of time, it’s nice to see a developer not only spend the time to make sure the story campaign is complete but that it plays wonderfully.

Now, this is going to be the direct sequel of its predecessor, which came out over a decade ago. Pressure will be on the successor, as Space Marine (2011) was extremely successful. And the major reason for this success is the main protagonist of the game, Captain Titus. That is why, to replicate the success, Saber is going to put the most essential aspect of the game in the sequel yet again.

In the world of fiction, there are no limits to what a character can be or become. This freedom has allowed creators to bring superheroes from all walks of life and forms, leading some of our fan-favorite superheroes to be ridiculously rich and loaded with unimaginable wealth. The DC hero, Batman is definitely one of the richest of the many superheroes existing today in the land of fiction.

Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 is less than a month away from release to the delight of its fans who are eager to dive into Demetrain Titus’ latest adventure.
Having undergone the Rubicon Primaris and returned to the Space Marines with new abilities and armor, Titus’s path to redemption is sure to be a major draw for the upcoming title, along with his battles against the Tyranids, alien beings intent on consuming all organic life.
However, Titus does not have to surmount his challenges alone, and the potential for Space Marine 2 to bring various Chapters from the franchise’s lore to the game is immense. With that in mind, here are five of our favorite Space Marine Chapters we would like to see in the game.

The Hills Have Eyes 2. No, not that one. That’s The Hills Have Eyes Part 2 and has one of the greatest things ever filmed where a dog, an actual dog, has a flashback and its just, muah, chef’s kiss. While I actually think that original 1985 sequel is way too much fun for its own good – it was written and directed by Craven, brings back Michael Berryman, has Harry Manfredini give us the score, and oh yeah, has a dog flashback. A Dog, Flashback – I’m not here to talk about that one that is probably so bad it’s good. I’m here to discuss the true black sheep of this inbred mountain family and give you all a look at the movie that is not a remake of the sequel but rather a sequel to the remake. When promoting Saving Private Ryan, Steven Spielberg claimed that every war movie is an anti-war movie. I think this is doubly true when it comes to genre cinema. After all, what better way to immerse audiences in the horrors of war than by telling a story specifically designed to scare them?
Hell, sometimes the war itself doesn’t even need to happen onscreen, like in the case of 1954’s Godzilla – one of the all-time best commentaries on nuclear warfare. And with Takashi Yamazaki returning the radioactive dinosaur to his post-war roots in Godzilla Minus One, we’ve decided to come up with a list recommending six more war-time horror movies for fans of historical terror.

From historically accurate costumes to expensive set designs, it takes a lot of money to shoot a believable period piece, with these films requiring an additional level of planning in order to feel true to life. That’s why it’s so rare to see non-blockbuster productions take on this challenge – especially when it comes to monster movies.
That being said, there are still some brave genre filmmakers that try and experiment with different story settings without the benefit of a super-hero movie budget, which often leads to incredibly unique horror films. That’s why we’ve decided to come up with a list recommending six of the best period-piece monster movies, as creature features shouldn’t have to be limited to any particular era.
For the purposes of this list, we’ll be defining “period piece” as any movie that takes place in a time period previous to when it was filmed.

Maharis died Wednesday at his home in Beverly Hills, his longtime friend and caregiver Marc Bahan told The Hollywood Reporter.

The season one finale of "The Mandalorian" introduced a terrifying new weapon for viewers of the series: the Darksaber. In the episode's final moments, it's revealed that the villainous Moff Gideon, an Imperial officer who has personally hunted down and murdered untold numbers of Mandalorians, had this legendary weapon. While that episode served as the weapon's entry into the live-action universe, viewers of the Star Wars animated shows recognized it right away. And it all comes down to some of the backstory of Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) and the Mandalore home world.
Here's what we know about the Darksaber and what role it's playing in season three.
What Is the Darksaber?
The Darksaber, in simplest terms, is a black lightsaber. But it's a weapon that has deep historic ties to Mandalore and its people. According to the lore of the extended Star Wars universe, the weapon was first wielded by Tarre Vizsla,...

This post contains major spoilers for the second episode of "The Mandalorian" season 3.
In the newest episode of "The Mandalorian," Din Djarin and Bo-Katan Kryze descend to the shattered surface of Mandalore to find the waters that run beneath them. In order to get there, they have to travel through the broken ruins of Sundari City, once the great, domed capital of Mandalore. The aftermath of Night of a Thousand Tears — ordered by Moff Gideon — left the city and the planet completely devastated. The surviving Mandalorians fled, thinking the planet was cursed and poisoned.
This included their ruler, Bo-Katan Kryze.
Sundari city wasn't always a husk of its former self. And we're going to take a look at the history of the city as we know it over the years.

Finally, after a slight detour, Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu are back to their humble, video game-esque weekly adventures. In season 3 of "The Mandalorian," our lonesome space cowboy turned father figure is seeking atonement for his past transgressions against the religious tribe he grew up in, so he's making a pilgrimage to be bathed in the waters of the home planet, Mandalore.
Of course, this is not going to be a simple task. In chapter 17, "The Apostate," The armorer of Din's tribe warns him that the surface of Mandalore has been torn apart by years of war, and that it has been rendered basically inhabitable. As it is, Din would be extremely lucky to find the fresh waters of Mandalore and survive to tell the tale. Luckily, Din has a few connections. With the exception of J.R.R. Tolkien, Robert E. Howard is likely the most influential author in all of fantasy fiction, with his beloved Conan the Barbarian stories transporting avid readers to the thrilling days of high adventure. However, the character also has a surprising link to the horror genre due to Howard’s occasional use of Cosmic Horror elements, something that was at least partially influenced by his long-time friendship with H.P. Lovecraft. Luckily for horror fans, the man-eating beasts and indescribable Elder Gods of Conan weren’t the author’s only foray into spooky tales about steadfast heroes encountering supernatural terror.
Years before Conan first rode out of Cimmeria, Howard was already a well-known figure in the world of weird fiction because of his other popular creation, the demon-hunting puritan known as Solomon Kane. First published in 1928, the swashbuckling hero became incredibly popular with fans of horror and pulp adventures alike,...

The second season of "The Mandalorian" finally put Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) in contact with other Mandalorians, including Bo-Katan Kryze (played by Katee Sackhoff), a warrior leader who rescues him before roping him into helping on her own mission. She and her Nite Owls also appear at the end of the season to help Din rescue Grogu, aka Baby Yoda, after Moff Gideon captures him.
Bo-Katan is set to play a big role in season three of "The Mandalorian." Here's a refresher on the role she's played in Star Wars lore so far, plus her longtime connection to the Darksaber.
Bo-Katan in "Clone Wars"
Although Bo-Katan is on the side of the heroes in "The Mandalorian," her backstory in the "Clone Wars" animated series is a lot darker. In that series, Bo-Katan was part of a Mandalorian terrorist group called Death Watch that actually allies briefly with Darth Maul and...

Star Wars: The Clone Wars introduced us to some of the internal and external conflicts that have plagued the planet of Mandalore throughout its history, and now it looks like The Mandalorian season 3 will finally show us what Mandalore was like before it was totally destroyed by civil war.
In a season 3 sneak peek released on Sunday, we can see a ship flying toward a domed city that looks an awful lot like the Mandalorian city of Sundari from The Clone Wars. However, one major difference between Sundari and the city we see in the trailer is the lush greenery surrounding it.
By the time we visit Sundari in The Clone Wars, the surface of Mandalore has already been transformed from the vibrant green we see in the trailer to a desert-like wasteland after years of Mandalorian wars. After the death of the first Mandalorian Jedi, Tarre Vizsla, surviving members...

After spending nearly fifteen years in development hell, the Red Sonja reboot has finally started filming! Millennium Media has announced that Red Sonja is being directed by M.J. Bassett (Solomon Kane) and stars Matilda Lutz (Revenge) as the title character.

This version of Red Sonja is derived from the sword and sorcery comic books by Dynamite Entertainment, based on the character created by Robert E. Howard and adapted by Roy Thomas.
Lutz is joined in the cast by Wallis Day (Sex/Life) as Annisia, Robert Sheehan (The Umbrella Academy) as Draygan, Michael Bisping (xXx: Return of Xander Cage) as Hawk, Martyn Ford (F9: The Fast Saga) as General Karlak,...

As if Yellowstone could really come to an end just when Beth got Jamie exactly where she wants him — well, short of the grave, anyway. Taylor Sheridan’s hit drama has officially rustled up a Season 5 renewal, Paramount Network announced Thursday.
Even before the pickup was official, it was a fait accompli. The Season 4 finale was up 81 percent in total viewers over Season 3’s ender, making it the most-watched cable telecast since The Walking Dead’s Season 8 premiere. Our sister site Deadline reported that Yellowstone would be rounding up its cast to begin shooting Season 5 in May (which Paramount Network...

Have you “herd”? Yellowstone is likely to return for Season 5 this fall, according to executive producer David Glasser.
Following the Paramount Network hit’s SAG Awards nomination for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, he told our sister site Variety that he expected the show to resume production in May and premiere its fifth season in autumn. In other words, viewers won’t have to wait too long to find out just how big a mistake Jamie made by choosing Beth’s ominous “option No. 3,” which in the Season 4 finale resulted in him murdering his biological father!

Never in a million years did we see this one coming. In Sunday’s episode of Yellowstone, Season 4’s penultimate, John dropped on Beth the most hurtful word a parent can hurl at their child: He wasn’t so much mad at her as he was — nooo! — disappointed in her. And it only got more painful from there. Read on, and we’ll not only discuss how, we’ll touch on all the highlights of “No Such Thing as Fair.”

Mj Basset has always been a conservationist, beginning her career as a wildlife photographer and documentary filmmaker before making the jump to narrative features including Deathwatch, Solomon Kane and Silent Hill: Revelation. Over the past decade, Basset has shifted almost exclusively to working in television but of late, she's returned to feature filmmaking, mixing her passion for conservation with her other love: action movies.
This mixing of passions stared with last year's Rogue and continues with Endangered Species. The new feature stars Basset regular Philip Winchester and Rebecca Romijn as Jack and Lauren Halsey, a well-to-do American couple who take the family on a dream vacation to Kenya. While on a self-guided safari, the family has an un...

Humans battling the forces of nature is a rich vein for filmmakers to mine and is unlikely to ever be tapped out, with yet another example seen in the first trailer for action thriller Rogue.
The movie, sadly, is not a standalone feature for the X-Men‘s power-absorbing southern belle, but the title instead refers to rogue lions, big cats without a pride. These are typically young males chased away by an older leader they were unable to overpower and usurp, but the trailer makes explicit mention of the antagonistic animal in question being female, probably indicating she’s unusually ferocious.
The story sees a group of mercenaries sent to rescue a young woman kidnapped by a militia group in Africa, but after being stranded, they seek refuge in a remote building, only to become menaced by the killer kitty of the title, trapping them inside as the enemy closes in on them.

"Some lions go rogue... She likes to kill." Lionsgate has released an official trailer for an action movie titled Rogue, the latest from director M.J. Bassett. Megan Fox stars in this "explosive action saga" as a battle-hardened mercenary. As team leader O'Hara, she leads a lively squad of soldiers on a daring mission: rescue a hostage from captors in a remote region of Africa. But when the mission goes awry and the team is stranded, O'Hara's squad must face a bloody, brutal encounter with a gang of rebels — and the horde of ravenous, enraged lions they encounter at a seemingly abandoned farm. Can they survive attacks from rebels and lions? This also stars Philip Winchester, Calli Taylor, Jessica Sutton, Lee-Anne Liebenberg, Brandon Auret, Adam Deacon, and Sisanda Henna. This looks especially bland and bad. As hard as she tries, Megan Fox just can't act - even opposite the CGI lions.

Sara Driver's Sleepwalk (1986) and When Pigs Fly (1993) is showing October and November on Mubi in the United States.SleepwalkIn Sara Driver’s too small yet varied filmography, her two fiction features, both poetic fantasies—Sleepwalk (1986) and When Pigs Fly (1993)—are bracketed by two other longer films, the 48-minute You Are Not I and the 78-minute documentary Boom for Real: The Late Teenage Years of Jean-Michel Basquiat (2017). Sleepwalk stars Suzanne Fletcher, who also played the schizophrenic sister in You Are Not I; Boom For Real portrays both a highly interactive community and an eclectic artist inside it, which might also describe When Pigs Fly, a comedy inspired by Topper about a jazz pianist (Alfred Molina) living in an east coast port town populated by barflies and ghosts. Moreover, the community in Boom is basically Lower East Side Manhattan and more specifically the Bowery, the setting of Sleepwalk, as well as...

*full disclosure: an online screener of this film was provided by Raven Banner Entertainment's publicity arm. Director: Leo Scherman. Writers: Matt Booi and Leo Scherman. Cast: Karine Vanasse, Rossif Sutherland, Rob Archer, Charlie Carrick, Shaun Benson, Ted Atherton, Adam Hurtig and Robert Stadlober. Leo Scherman's Trench 11 is a World War I set horror film. There have been other horror films set in this time period, including Michael J. Bassett's Deathwatch (2001). This time, six Allied soldiers are tasked with exploring an underground, German medical complex. Shot in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Trench 11 offers some great practical make-up effects, from Francois Dagenais. However, the plot and the characters are a bit lightly drawn. Meanwhile, nothing about Trench 11 sounds like World War I. The costumes look great. Still, it is always strange to see a Canadian character with an American accent. At the end of the film, this horror film fan found Trench 11 a bit.

The year of Baggins, Potter and Spider-Man also had a wealth of lesser-known movies. Here’s our pick of 2002's underappreciated films...
At the top of the box office tree, 2002 was dominated by fantasy and special effects. Peter Jackson's The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers made almost a billion dollars all by itself, with Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets taking second place and Sam Raimi's Spider-Man not too far behind.
In many ways, 2002 set the tempo for the Hollywood blockbuster landscape, which has changed relatively little in the decade since. A quick look at 2013‘s top 10, for example, reveals a markedly similar mix of superhero movies, with Iron Man 3 still ruling the roost at the time of writing, followed by effects-heavy action flicks and family-friendly animated features.

Chicago – You may be rolling your eyes. Oh, look, another critic ripping on a bad horror movie. But you may not know that not only am I a horror movie fan in general but I particularly liked the first “Silent Hill” film, to the point that I’m quoted on the DVD case for the flick. I approached the critically reviled “Silent Hill: Revelation” thinking that I might again be in the minority but would be happy to be so. I am not. This is a bad, bad, bad movie, breathtakingly incompetent in ways that can be fascinating when they’re not so straight-up stupid.

Christophe Gans’ Silent Hill, while thoroughly imperfect, was at least a stylistically faithful adaptation of the popular video game, and continues to stand tall as the most reverent one to date. The film’s modest successes are not repeated, however, in Michael J. Bassett’s (Deathwatch, Solomon Kane) inept, offensive butchering of the outstanding third Silent Hill game.
Fans of the game will be acutely aware of why Bassett has chosen not to just adapt the second title in the series, because Silent Hill 3 shares a direct narrative fabric with the first game, whereas the second – easily the best game of the lot – is almost completely unrelated beyond sharing the same setting. And while the first few minutes of Revelation demonstrate some sure promise, accurately replicating the nightmarish carnival scene from the start of the third game, the overly busy, spasmodic direction continually places the viewer at arm’s length.

There have been no less than nine different video games to bear the name of Silent Hill since the first chapter arrived in 1999, and by this point it's safe to say that the Konami franchise has built up a pretty strong fan base for their endless horror series -- but only one movie so far. By comparison, Capcom's Resident Evil, which debuted three years earlier now boasts 23 game releases and seven movie adaptations, if you're including the animated ones, but that franchise offers numerous beautiful women who kill zombies, whereas Silent Hill just has ... the world's creepiest town. The first movie arrived via Christoph Gans in 2006, and while it's a bit longer than any video-game-based horror flick has any right (or need) to be, it still holds up as a rather impressive visual display on unpleasant eeriness.
So how's the sequel?
Not very good, unfortunately, and I say that as...
