I watched the New Mickey Mouse Club of the 70s as an adolescent, never missing an episode. I saw the The Mouseketeers at Walt Disney World when it originally aired and loved it. That's why I was delighted to see it available as a streaming title on Disney Plus. Yes it's hokey. Yes, the dialog is scripted. Yes the clothing and references are dated. And Yes, I still love it every bit as much as the night it premiered on TV. We see the world much differently in 2021 than we did in 1977, and quite frankly, watching this show takes me back to those very happy years of the 70s, when the country wasn't this hyper-partisan-political, computer-hacked, intolerant, uptight world we live in now. Take a detour from the 21st century, make some popcorn, and just enjoy this presentation for what it is-- a glimpse into the somewhat tacky, yet care-free days of the 70s at Disney World.
