Everyone’s favorite director (by everyone I mean like two people) Roland Emmerich is jumping back into the alien invasion genre. Heat Vision reported yesterday that the man behind 2012 and other massive and expensive epics is hard at work on a movie called The Zone. This movie, with a budget of 5 million dollars (the lowest Emmerich has had in quite some time), is going to be a found footage movie in the vein of Cloverfield and The Blair Witch Project. The Zone was written by French scribe Guillaume Tunzini (the French film FrogZ) and from what the sources say, two people have already been cast but no one is naming names quite yet.
I was 9 when Independence Day came out and although it admittedly hasn’t aged that well (story-wise anyway, the effects are still awesome), it’s one of those movies I will keep in my heart until the day I die.
