Syndie shows see boost during sweep
The November sweep proved bountiful for most syndicated shows. Researchers said that recent changes to Nielsen Media Research's methodology have made it difficult to render apples-to-apples comparisons with the previous November sweep. But compared with their October averages, most syndicated shows are showing improvement, with many up double digits. Leading the syndication pack for the November sweep were game shows Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! which took the No. 1 and 2 spots, respectively, in all of syndication. Wheel averaged a 9.2 household rating for the sweep, according to Nielsen figures, and was up 7% from October. Jeopardy! averaged an 8.2 (up 5%) for the sweep, which ran Nov. 4-Dec. 1. Jeopardy! was boosted by a whopping 11.6 on Nov. 30 -- the day that contestant Ken Jennings' 74-game winning streak ended. Another game show, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (3.5), was up 9%, followed by Family Feud (2.0, flat) and Street Smarts (0.9, flat).
