This was released by Capcom Japan in retaliation to a number of hacked bootleg copies of SF2 Champion Edition that were released into arcades (notably "SF Blackbelt Edition" and "SF Rainbow Wave"). It featured new moves for some characters, as well as a general increase in playing speed.
There are three known mistakes that this one arcade version of Street Fighter II is known for: 1. The US release omitting the word "Turbo" from the title. 2. Forgetting to fix the erroneous win-quotes of certain World Warriors (Ryu and Guile, etc.). 3. The game itself lacking a speed-selection for each player's preferred pace. (These issues were later fixed in the SNES/SFC port.)
This is the only iteration of Street Fighter II that doesn't feature selectable World Warrior newcomers to fight as.
This was the last Street Fighter game in which all of the male characters sounded the same vocally.
This was the last Street Fighter game to use CPS-1 hardware. It wasn't ported to the CPS-Dash for unknown reasons.
