- A policeman investigates a gang of camouflaged dealers in a restaurant.
- Larry Semon, director and actor, talks over his next plot with himself. The story is laid in a Chinese underground cafe, attached to which is a Chinese opium den. The villainous "big boss" proprietor of the cafe is in league with the Chinese leader and his gang. Performing as a singer at the cafe, the girl, wearing a beautiful necklace, is robbed the proprietor. Larry, a detective, on the job, replaces the neck lace about the girl's neck, much to the anger of the proprietor and leader, who throw him out. Larry is persistent however, and returns again and again. The hop smuggler causes a mix-up when he brings a supply of the dope to the den. Larry is caught by the big burly proprietor, and between the leader, smuggler and proprietor is beaten up and thrown into a corner of the den. One of the dope fiends upsets his bottle of dope above Larry's open mouth and the dope takes effect. Larry feeling very light and happy jumps about. The proprietor and leader dividing the money for the necklace, hearing him, investigate the cause and Larry permits the proprietor to beat him in the face, then turning, he wallops the proprietor knocking him through the wall. That is the beginning of the trouble. Larry leads the proprietor and [Chinese men] a merry chase, wrecking the cafe, and then up to the roof. Here he is balancing perilously on the edge of a ladder, two [Chinese men] threatening him with guns, when we come back to the director and actor still discussing the plot. The director continues "Then you fall from the ladder, drop 12 stories and land in a passing ash-cart." This is too much for the actor, who picks up his coat and hat and leaves the director shaking his head in a very discouraged way, as the picture ends.
