So Laughable and Lame that Becomes Entertaining
claudio_carvalho12 June 2011
When the hooker Rosely (Andrea Camargo) is stabbed seven times in the Boca do Lixo, her costumer Manoel (Sérgio Hingst) is accused of the murder. However, the defense lawyer Gabriel Reis (Oasis Minniti) defends Manoel that is released free of charge. Gabriel learns that the killer is Pé de Anjo (Claudio Cunha), who was murdered in a simulation of suicide by Jairo Korfi (David Húngaro). Jairo is a powerful trafficker of white slaves, drug dealer and owner of brothels, and he wants to retrieve documents that incriminate him that were in the possession of Rosely; however, she had delivered these documents to Gabriel. Now the lawyer is using these documents to self-protection.

Gabriel's friend Sérgio (Waldir Siebert) owns a construction company in the seacoast and invites Gabriel to work with him. Gabriel is introduced to the fiancée of his friend, Lúcia (Sonia Garcia) and to their friend Wilma (Zélia Martins) and they have a love affair. When the foreman of the company is found murdered, the worker João Nestor assumes the murder. However, Gabriel is sure that the violent worker Avelino is the killer and presses him Avelino shots him on the chest and when Gabriel is recovered, he learns that the foreman was a federal agent investigating Jairo Korfi. Gabriel leaves the hospital dating the former wife of Avelino, Odete (Marta Maciel). Meanwhile Jairo Korfi discovers the truth about the origin of his stepdaughter Lídia (Sonia Vieira).

"A Praia do Pecado" is so laughable and lame that becomes entertaining. The story is a complete mess and corny, and it is funny to see Gabriel shot on the chest in one scene and in love with Odete and fighting against Avelino when he comes to his house with his wife in the next sequence; or the revelations of Netinho to his boss Jairo about his daughter Lídia and the reactions of Lídia and Jario Korfi.

The acting of the wooden Oasis Minniti is hilarious and it is annoying the dubbing of the external shots. Despite the countless flaws, this is one of the best productions of the infamous Boca do Lixo. My vote is five.

My worst picture number 1!!

In the seventies was in vogue the soft-porn sexploitation commonly self-called here in Brazil as Pornochanchada, that means soft-porn with humor oriented, actually "A Praia do Pecado" in literal translation as (The Beach of Sin) didn't belong to this genre properly due it haven't the last element to be deemed as such, it is a mixing of genres as crime and soft-porn only, the producer on late seventies want put forward something else that meager nude scenes as its predecessors, but if didn't work out due the faint and ridiculous plot offered, also docked a bad acting of the all casting involved in this hideous picture.

The far-fetched plot is about a late owner of whorehouse that hold a documents that could implicate a might businessman Dr. Jairo Korfi (David Húngaro) that has countless shadowy illegal dealings as drugs dealer, trader of white slaves to foreign market and prostitution, but everything began when a whore Rosely (Andrea Camargo) is harassed by an old man Manuel to marry him, after that Rosely is shanked in the hotel raising suspicious of Manuel done it by jealous, imprisoned he contracts a skilled lawyer Gabriel Reis (Oasis Minniti) that told by him on flashback how he got prove his innocence and the real perpetrator.

Starting told how was contracted by an old friend Sergio (Waldir Siebert) that wants he manages the construction beach house, there he meets a gorgeous girl Wilma (Zélia Martins) that start an uncompromised affair, at work he has a trouble with a rough employee Avelino that later murdered his master builder (who actually was a police informer), the witness João Nestor stays quiet due he has been afraid be murder by the killer, what happened in the next is an outrageous invasion on the precinct, what a shame, later Gabriel looking for Avelino at your house meeting his wife there starting a mutual romantic affair, low and behold this implausible event suggested by an ignoble writer.

In the weirdo plot also expose a sort of inces-tuous affair between Dr. Jairo and his unknown daughter Lidia Korfi (Sonia Vieira) carry out by the self-absorbed, raunch ni.gro body-guard Netinho (Tony Tornado) claiming for a partnership thereafter, the outcome is so naïve that gathered all cra.ppy elements to fulfill with perfection so acclaimed worst movie, in my list I have just twenty that fill in all required elements to got this lowest position, it is one of them.

Thanks for reading.

Above average, considering Brazilian sexploitation from the 70's and 80's

This sexploitation drama is well filmed, and acting is not as bad as usual in low-budget exploitation cinema in Brazil in late 70's (though, there was a bizarre mistake in dubbing). Indeed, it is clearly above average among the so-called "pornochanchadas", and also more serious (definitely not a comedy at all) and ambitious as a motion picture than those films used to be. The beginning is well done, but the vicious extremely violent crime scene was arguably misogynous and sadistic and could have been made more respectfully, considering the portrayed event as a serious one that should sexually excite nobody. Anyway, the first 20 minutes presented an intriguing story. However, the following 25 minutes brought a shallow porn-like script, with beautiful naked bodies but very few of the interesting beginning. Fortunately, the movie improved again ever since, although lacking a more strict script, losing itself sometimes in unnecessary side stories, and taking too much time to reach the end. The last dialogue of Gabriel Reis (Oasis Minniti) is quite bad, I shall anticipate. However, the long scene with Netinho (Tony Tornado), Jairo Korfi (David Húngaro) and Lídia (Sonia Vieira), beginning when the film lacked just 11 minutes to finish, is excellent, particularly due edition and cinematography, by far the very best in the whole movie.
