Chef Jamie Oliver’s story, at least in terms of his rise to fame with “The Naked Chef,” is a story about filmmaking. He and the BBC Two documentary crew behind the series broke with the studio-based, locked down and orderly conventions of cooking shows to shoot Oliver a lot more in the style of a documentary — lots of handheld, verite footage and the sense, well before ring-lit YouTube tutorials and Twitch muckbangs, of cooking with a mate.
It’s a fitting detail to come up during Oliver’s episode of “Chef’s Table: Legends” because over the course of its 10 seasons, the Netflix series has itself reshaped the landscape of documentary food programming. “Chef’s Table” embraces a visual approach that owes more to narrative-style cinematography as it does to the conventions of documentary. The goal was to give every plate and the environment surrounding each subject the same visual intention...

Chef Jamie Oliver and his Penguin Random House publisher have agreed to withdraw his children’s book from sale after one of its subplots offended Indigenous Australians.
The National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Corporation issued a broadside against the book, “Billy and the Epic Escape,” which was published earlier this year. The group claimed it used tropes and stereotypes about Indigenous Australians about their spirituality and connection to nature.
Oliver is best known for his 1999 book and television show, “The Naked Chef.” He has long been an advocate for healthier children’s food and nutrition. In 2005, he opened a campaign, Feed Me Better, to introduce schoolchildren to healthier foods, which was later backed by the British government.
His new fantasy book featured a subplot about an Indigenous girl living in foster care. The critics claimed it contributed to the “erasure, trivialization and stereotyping of First Nations peoples and experiences.

Jamie Oliver has revealed that he once burnt his penis on a date.
Oliver, who first shot to fame with his BBC Two cookery show The Naked Chef, recounted the unfortunate experience, which occurred when he was cooking in the nude for his wife Jools during a romantic evening in.
Speaking on The Graham Norton Show, Oliver said that he had planned a special dinner, saying: "I am a romantic, so I had cleaned the house, I had Sade on and I was cooking sea bass.
"I should add I was also completely naked apart from a bow on my manhood. I opened the oven and a jet of steam burnt my penis."
He added: "It was really, really, really painful and I screamed, which wasn't very romantic. I had to pack myself with frozen peas. I was so swollen, but it was so painful. It was a bittersweet experience!

For the fourth time in ten years, British chef Jamie Oliver takes the number spot on the UK Christmas book charts with his latest cooking title. Jamie's Great Britain sold nearly 60,000 books in the week leading up to December 20. Last year, he held the top spot with Jamie's Thirty-Minute Meals. Back in 2001, it was Happy Days With The Naked Chef and in 2005 it was Jamie's Italy.
It's a remarkable achievement. "Being No 1 two years on the run is an incredible achievement," said Jon Howells of Waterstone's. "Jamie has had a lot of competition this year, but ultimately he's a tough act to beat."

HollywoodNews.com: Jamie Oliver has revealed that he has found a new use for his Emmy Award – as a kitchen utensil.
The Naked Chef posted a hilarious video on his website showing him chopping vegetables and crushing garlic with the trophy. He also transformed it into a makeshift fruit bowl by balancing apples and tomatoes on top.
“I never thought I’d get one of these. It’s going to go to really good use. I’m going to use it in all of my cooking shows,” he joked.

The Emmy Award-winning "Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution" will continue to be televised. The Naked Chef's foray into revitalizing American school system lunches proved a big hit for ABC and it's recently been picked up for a second season.
The new season finds Oliver taking on the second largest city in the country: Los Angeles, CA. That's right. The Food Revolution goes Hollywood where Oliver will find his biggest challenge yet.
In the show's first season, the chef, author and TV personality traveled from across the pond to Huntington, West Virginia, statistically the unhealthiest city in the United States. There, Oliver opened up a kitchen in the area to teach people how to cook healthier but, most importantly, fought the town's school system in order to change the unhealthy, overly processed foods served to children, including pizza for breakfast.

Aniston and Pitt Buy Chef's London Home

Hollywood's golden couple Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston have finally found their dream English home - belonging to their celebrity chef pal Jamie Oliver. The American actors have been friends with the British Naked Chef host and his wife Jules for several years and have even paid for the Olivers to fly to their Los Angeles home to cook for them. Earlier this year, Pitt admitted he wants to bring up his children in Europe when his Friends star wife falls pregnant. Pitt enthused, "I've always liked England. Jen also likes it and Europe, so we'll be looking for a place soon. Europe is a great place for kids to grow up." After looking at residences in the ancient town of Rye in East Sussex, the Pitts were delighted when Oliver announced he was quitting his $3 million London home for a house in the country. A friend says, "Jamie let slip that since Jen coming over later this month to make a film, it would be a good idea to base herself at the Olivers' house. That's how the idea first came about."...

NEW YORK -- Food Network will serve up 12 new series next year, the Scripps-owned cable channel said Monday in advance of its upfront. Backed by a 58% boost in original programming dollars over last year, Food Network isn't altering the recipe for its development slate. Celebrity chefs are still the main ingredient, with homegrown talent Jamie Oliver (The Naked Chef) toplining a second limited series, Jamie's Kitchen: The Fifteen. In Kitchen, which premieres in October, Oliver turns over the management of his new restaurant to a select group of unemployed street kids. Also in the winter, Italian food maven Mario Batali hosts Mario in America, which examines his nationality's culinary legacy.
