XLrator Media, the distribution company behind John Ridley’s “Jimi: All is By My Side,” “The Machine,” and more, will soon release the new horror film “The Windmill,” starring Noah Taylor, best known for his performances in “Game of Thrones,” “Almost Famous,” and “The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.” The film follows a group of unsuspecting tourists who discover a mysterious evil while traveling through the Dutch countryside. When their bus breaks down, they’re forced to seek shelter besides a windmill where supposedly a Satan-obsessed miller grinds peoples’ bones instead of grain. It co-stars Charlotte Beaumont (“Jupiter Ascending”), Patrick Baladi (“Rush”), Tanroh Ishida (“The Railway Man”) and Ben Batt (“Captain America: The First Avenger”). Watch an exclusive clip from the film below.

When The Hunger Games was release, we were treated to a few pretty neat Capitol-inspired nail polishes and that was fun. But for the release of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, CoverGirl is releasing an entire line of makeup with looks for each of the 12 Districts.
The CoverGirl YouTube has tons of behind the scenes videos and time lapse videos so it was hard to narrow it down to just a few, but we’ll start with the TV spot for the makeup line followed by a behind the scenes look at District 9 (Grain), then District 10 (Livestock) and finally a time lapse of District 4 (Fishing):

See an antelope leap into a car to avoid pursuit and the Tootsie star explain how he got into character in our online clip rundown
We start this week's video selection with the impala that cheetah'd death by leaping into a tourist car during a safari. As if being on safari wasn't exciting enough, imagine what it would be like to gain an extra passenger – with a ferocious wild animal hot on its tail.
If that video gets your heart racing, you need to watch an amazingly tranquil and beautiful film from Simon Christen. Made over two years, it uses time-lapse photography to capture the fog descending over San Francisco.
We've also got a fascinating interview with Dustin Hoffman, who chokes back the tears when he describes the lengths he went to to play Dorothy Michaels in the film Tootsie. When he asked the makeup team to make him "more...

Today (July 2) is World UFO Day, and to celebrate, we wanted to do an extra-special roundup. Russell Crowe just played an alien in the movie "Man of Steel," which might have led him to develop a belief that UFO sightings are real. Over the past couple months, the actor has been tweeting paranormal conspiracy theories about aliens he'd like all of his fans to check out. Review the evidence of UFOs Crowe provides us with below, and if you have any leads, make sure to reach out to him. He seems pretty distraught!

Russell Crowe has claimed to have captured a UFO on camera. The 'Les Miserables' actor received a 'big surprise' as he and a friend set up their camera to take some pictures of fruit bats outside his production company's offices in Sydney, Australia, but believes he may have instead snapped an alien aircraft floating in the sky. Sharing his findings on his Twitter account, the actor tweeted: 'UFO? Time Lapse Photos Outside Rc's Woolloomooloo Office (These Are Real!) Les Mis star Russell Crowe may have spent a little too much time staring at the “Stars.” (Sorry, couldn’t resist.)
The Oscar winner was flummoxed Tuesday when he spied a mysterious crimson flash floating across the sky near his office in Woolloomooloo (which sounds like a space town but is, in fact, a suburb of Sydney, Australia). He even took a series of time-lapse photos of the phenomenon, which he then posted on Twitter with this not-at-all-crazy-sounding caption: “UFO? Someone may need to get Scully and Mulder on the horn. Russell Crowe has linked to a YouTube video on Twitter of what he claims to be an unidentified flying object outside his office in Sydney. "UFO? Time Lapse Photos Outside Rc's Woolloomooloo Office (These Are Real!)," he tweeted. In the clip, a rectangular object engulfed in red light is seen making its way across the sky. Calling it a "big surprise," Crowe explained that he and a friend had set up a camera "to capture fruit bats from Botanic Gardens." The Oscar winner also noted, "Canon 5, No Flash, can't be a lens flare because it moves, camera is fixed." Cue the creepy sci-fi...

Russell Crowe saw a UFO last night.
That's right, the "Les Miserables" star claims to have had his very own "close encounter" while trying to catch fruit bats on camera over the Sydney Botanic gardens.
Crowe posted the series of time lapse pictures -- condensed into a YouTube video -- to his Twitter account Tuesday.

The 23-second video, which features a stand of trees at dusk, appears to show a mysterious, disk-like object flying horizontally from the right to left side of the frame.
As skeptics questioned the colorful actor's claim, Crowe defended the pictures via Twitter, insisting it wasn't a trick of the light or errant camera flash. (Although the creepy music is all Crowe.)

Godfrey Reggio's Qatsi trilogy is a brilliantly realized, influential piece of cinema that bridges the gap between experimental film and documentary. Completely free of dialogue or any sort of obvious narrative, these three films combine visuals and music to provoke a visceral and intellectual response from the audience, allowing themes to emerge from seemingly disparate images in a freedom of interpretation. The Criterion Collection has finally given the series an HD upgrade and outside of one exception, I'm pretty thrilled with the results. The first film in the series, Koyaanisqatsi (life out of balance), is definitely my favourite. The film casts wider conceptual and thematic net, allowing the audience to decide for themselves what they take away from its imagery, if anything at all. It claims ownership over the originality of its visuals, indulging in long sequences of time lapse photography set mostly in cities and factories. This brand...

The Movie Pool is back to take you through the final part of our Post-Production Glossary. These are all the terms you need to know as an editor, or as someone working in the Post process. If you're just starting out, it's a good guide to get you started on all that you need to know and be aware of.
Apologies for taking so long to get this one to you guys. However, if you need to catch up, be sure to check out A-g and H-p for the complete Post-Production glossary. Once again, just about all of the definitions came from text books, but I'll provide more insight and examples as we go along. I know things like these can seem daunting, but understanding these terms will help give you a better understanding for the craft on the whole.

This is a pretty big week for DVD releases with plenty of titles worth buying and renting as well as a couple worth skipping completely. There’s no real common thread here aside from almost half of titles featured below being TV shows on DVD. The best of the bunch include the second and third seasons, respectively, of Community and Parks & Recreation, but other TV releases include the classic seventies series Police Story, the trippy Sigmund & the Sea Monsters, the piss poor Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior, and more. But there are some great releases for film fans too including Hanna and X-Men First Class. As always, if you see something you like, click on the image to buy it. Rebirth The events of 9/11 affected all Americans in one way or another, but for many people the nightmare struck very close to home. The buzz is heating up for The X Factor, and Simon Cowell took part in another Q & A to explore the show. Despite the fact that the premiere of the show is quite a ways away, the audition circuit is in full swing, and since a lot of people are doing a lot of not so positive talking about Idol, attention is turning to the future.
Check it out below, and then find several teaser clips at the bottom.
Can you just talk about how these booths are going to work and just to follow-up on that, the cities you chose for these booths?
S. Cowell Well, the idea was that we could only go into so many cities to do the open auditions. When we spoke to Fox and we spoke to Pepsi, they wanted to get a further reach and these booths came to my attention about—just under a year ago.

Well the cat, or rather demon, is out of the bag. Paranormal Activity 2 will not disappoint. Kip Williams’ sequel wisely sticks to the ambience and slow build up to absolute terror which made Oren Peli’s original such a memorable and freaky experience.
The sequel, or rather prequel (which is what this is), delves deeper into the back story of Kate and her sister’s troubles that began with goofing around on oujia boards as kids. It also suggests their mother was affected by demonic happenings.
Kate features as a supporting character here as she pops round to her sister’s house to hang out and play with her new nephew, baby Hunter. Micah shows up a couple of times as a minor figure. The camera set-up pretty much remains intact, but with a wider scope. After their house is ransacked by what they think is burglars, the man...

We all know how much Steven Soderbergh loves the Red Cameras. Anyone who has followed his directorial career over the past few years will know that he was one of the first directors to get his hands on the hot new piece of technology that is helping ease the change from film to digital movie making.
Red’s CEO Jim Jannard recently announced that Steven Soderbergh will in fact be using their new, and not yet available, Epic-x (Codenamed Tattoo) cameras for his upcoming film, Contagion. This will in fact be the first feature film shot on the new camera which is capable of capturing 5K images.
Contagion is set to start filming this September, with a presumed release date of October 2011 (Oscar Season?), starring Marion Cotillard, Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, Laurence Fishburne and Gwyneth Paltrow. From IMDb:
