Brief Review -
A Jabbar Patel Masterpiece which even defeats Attenborough's Oscar Winner Gandhi in accuracy and detailings. An Unreal Phenomena by Mammootty. Biopic on freedom fighters and social activities always find good response because these stories have that attraction and excitement which can grab eyeballs of every viewer. There are lot of films made on Indian History from 20th century, mostly from Pre-Independence Era but hardly some of them had that quality. From several biopics of Bhagat Singh to Gandhi to Patel and Azaad and many others, many films tried to be as real as they could be and some of them have succeeded too. But this one story of Dr. Ambedkar was different from others because it wasn't about fighting for freedom. It was about fighting for humanity. Whether it was Gandhi or Patel or Bhagat Singh, they all were fighting against British but this man Dr. Ambedkar was fighting with his own country fellas for the rights of low caste people. Later, he went on to write our constitution which serves the best aspects of equality among all humans even till date. But do we really understand it? Do we really see the complete equality in our society even today? Especially for the Untouchables? No. That's why this film ranks highest among all those biographical dramas for me because the content is like a never-ending debate. Attenborough's Gandhi missed few details because it was about the life of Gandhi and here this film does not compromise with the controversial stuff like Ambedkar opposing Gandhi and Congress for his motive of equality. It clearly expresses the anger and some disturbing facts like Ambedkar being termed as the greatest Villain to Hinduism and Country and many more. NFDC and Jabbar Patel deserves to be hailed for their guts. Mammootty has lived that character for 3 hours on screen. If Ambedkar was alive, even he would have clapped for him. In short, an Unmissable Masterpiece!
