I realize I haven't written anything in a while, as you may know. Unfortunately, there was a rather large pool invested with people and loud, popular music that I needed to go stake out. Luckily, it turns out there hasn't been much news anyway. At least nothing all that interesting. But these are actually really cool. Just two weeks ago we posted up some Hi-Res art from Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland that looked like an 18th century heroin addict's fever dream. Now, from Planet Disney (via /film) come these full body (although not nearly as Hi-Res) shots of Mia Wasikowska as Alice, Helena Bonham Carter as The Red Queen, and Johnny Depp as The Mad Hatter. As you can tell, the production team would only need to slap on a PETA logo to have a fantastic little ad campaign. Jokes aside, these images actually reminded me how animal-heavy the original books were. Basically...

Three more character images from "Alice in Wonderland" have been found. Each presenting Mia Wasikowska's Alice, Johnny Depp's The Mad Hatter and Helena Bonham Carter's The Red Queen, the photos came out in the latest edition of Vanity Fair and were scanned by Planet Disney. This is the first time the main character Alice is seen up close.
For this 3-D re-imagining of the original animated classic, director Tim Burton gives a unique twist making it a semi-sequel. The story centers on the now-17-year-old Alice. Attending a party at a Victorian estate only to find she is about to be proposed to in front of hundreds of snooty society types, she runs after a white rabbit into a hole and ends up transferred once again to Wonderland. Still, she has no recollection of this place she visited 10 years before.

During the press conferences for upcoming crime drama Public Enemies, Johnny Depp has also been asked about his other film projects including Pirates of the Caribbean 4, Alice in Wonderland and The Lone Ranger.
In Alice in Wonderland, he plays The Mad Hatter, as seen in images (included below) that have flooded the internet over the past day or two; in The Lone Ranger he is set to play Tonto; and in Pirates of the Caribbean 4, he will of course reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow.
So what did Depp tell us about all these?
According to Latino Review, here's what the actor had to say on each of those projects.
On Pirates of the Caribbean 4:
"Call me a glutton. Honestly, if we can get the screenplay right to Pirates 4, because obviously virtually no cinema is perfect. Pirates 1 had its own thing, Pirates 2 and 3 had their own thing...

Ed McMahon, Rip: The infamous Johnny Carson sidekick has sadly passed away. At the age of 86 Ed McMahon died on June 23rd, 2009 at the Ronald Reagan/UCLA Medical Center. Recently, McMahon has had many health problems, including pneumonia. Not only has the public been made aware in the decline of McMahon’s health, they have also known about his money problems; including his battle to pay his mortgage, costing him approximately $644,000 debt with the bank, and then being sued by numerous insurance companies, which was later reached in a settlement for $7million. Thankfully enough, the public will always remember Ed McMahon as the cheerful and laughable subordinate to Carson. Let’s hear it one last time for remembrance sake: “Heeeeeeeeeeeere’s Johnny!” Antichrist the Video Game: Director Lars Von Trier’s latest flop film that was laughed at during it’s screening at Cannes Film Festival will become a video game.

Apparently the marketing machine is in full swing, as in the last 48 hours we’ve seen countless images and now a script review for the Tim Burton directed Alice in Wonderland, starring Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Alan Rickman, Stephen Fry, Michael Sheen and Mia Wasikowska.
Lets start with the script review, I’m not going to post the whole thing here, but for the benefit of the article I’ll summarise:
The script isn’t exactly an adaptation of the original story by Lewis Carroll, as it is an extension of it. Alice went to Wonderland as a child, and she’s now almost grown. She’s 17, and she’s back for more, but doesn’t remember her times there earlier. She’s about to be engaged, maybe. A rich suitor wants to marry her, and the opening scenes of the movie are of her engagement party.

So what do you find down the rabbit hole? Apparently some pretty funky creatures and a strangely disproportionate Red Queen according to Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland starring Johnny Depp.
{sidebar id=1}According to the site CC2K, the script is very tight and to the point. They've posted a quick story breakdown of what you can expect to see.
An excerpt is below, head over to CC2K for the full script review.

After USA Today came out with a series of images from "Alice in Wonderland", two more pictures from the upcoming animated feature have been put forth by Yahoo! Movies. Like some of the earlier-exposed photos, these two also focus on the individual characters in the Tim Burton-directed movie.
While the previous ones saw Johnny Depp's Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter's the Red Queen and Anne Hathaway's the White Queen, these fresh pictures bring Mia Wasikowska's Alice and Matt Lucas' Tweedledee and Tweedledum up and center. The one with Alice captures the young girl standing near the famous giant tea cup.
"Alice in Wonderland" is based on the Lewis Carroll classic of the same name and will combine performance-capture imagery with live-action footage. The story has been modernized by Linda Woolverton. It will follow now-17-year-old Alice who gets transferred once again to Wonderland, but...

In addition to the early concept art and character shots from Tim Burton's weird and wonderful Alice In Wonderland, two more shots - this time of Alice herself, as well as Tweedledum and Tweedledee - have popped up online. It looks like Matt Lucas really has been eating all the pies, as he is animated into an almost egg-like form as the rotund Tweedle twins. Obviously no one told the poor Tweedles that horizontal stripes just aren't a flattering look.Mia Wasikowska's Alice is suitably demure and innocent looking standing atop a saucer in the topsy turvy world of Wonderland. Unlike the original Lewis Carroll tale, Alice is a seventeen year old, returning to Wonderland a decade on, with no recollection of her first visit as a seven year old girl.Click the image above for the larger version on Yahoo! No longer content to haunt only your Christmas nightmares, Tim Burton is bringing Alice in Wonderland to the big screen next March, in some intensely mind-frakking 3D glory. The story is a sequel to Alice's original adventure, one in which she flees an unwanted marriage proposal by following a white rabbit down a hole to Wonderland. Only, she doesn't remember the drug-fueled nap dream that got her there the first time, 10 years earlier.
USA Today unveiled the first character images and concept art this morning, and yes, Alice has been Burton-ized.
Anne Hathaway plays The White Queen, who, in terms of literary motif in Lewis Carroll's Through the Looking-Glass, is sort of the chess queen protagonist — but who, for the purposes of this post, we're just going to call "crazy hot," even all frosted over like this.

Last night the first promotional photos were revealed of Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen, and Anne Hathaway as The White Queen from Tim Burton's 3D re-imagining of Alice in Wonderland. And now Movies.ie has come across this promo photo of Matt Lucas as both Tweedledee and Tweedledum. Check out the full photo after the jump. The characters appeared in Lewis Carroll's Through the Looking-Glass, as two fat brothers who complement each other's words and never contradict each other, even when one of them, according to the famous nineteenth century nursery rhyme, "agrees to have a battle". Yahoo also has another promotional character photo of Mia Wasikowska as Alice: The film is actually a sequel to the original story, and follows Alice, now 17 years old, as she escapes from a snooty party and follows a white rabbit down a hole,...

USA Today goes down the rabbit hole with Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland and comes back up with some amazing pieces of eye candy. Alice, played by the Australian actress Mia Wasikowska, is glimpsed wandering in a garden populated by towering mushrooms and flowers with human faces, not to mention being checked out amid some surreal topiary by The White Rabbit. We also get a look the rather disturbing-looking twins, Tweedledum and Tweedledee, who resemble giant bloated versions of Pugsly from The Addams Family.
To go along with all this, the studio has also released some appropriately surreal promo photos of Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter as The Red Queen, and Anne Hathaway as The White Queen. The latter two characters are actually drawn from the Wonderland sequel, Through the Looking Glass, so clearly Burton is aiming to give the Lewis Carroll classic his own unique spin.

New pictures are now available from director Tim "Batman" Burton's upcoming Alice in Wonderland, based on author Lewis Carroll's classic (public domain) novels Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass. The film will use a technique combining live action, motion capture technology and stop motion. Starring actress Mia Wasikowska as 17-year old 'Alice', the feature will be released in Disney Digital 3-D and IMAX 3-D. Screenwriter Linda "Beauty and The Beast" Woolverton added a 'socio-political' context to the new story. "The goal is to try to make it an engaging movie," said Burton. "...where you get some of the psychology and kind of bring a freshness but also keep the classic nature of Alice." Sony Pictures Imageworks is designing the visual effects sequences. Alice In Wonderland also stars actors Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Stephen Fry, Alan Rickman, Michael Sheen, Matt Lucas and Christopher Lee,...

USA Today has published some gorgeous new images from Tim Burton's new Alice in Wonderland project, underway at Disney.Available for your hi-def perusal is concept art showing Johnny Depp as a wall-eyed Mad Hatter; Helena Bonham Carter and Anne Hathaway as the Red and White Queens; and glimpses of The White Rabbit, Tweedledum and Tweedledee, and Alice herself. That character list should give you a clue that this is not quite a straight adaptation. While the Hatter and the Rabbit are from Lewis Carrol's barking 1865 original story, The Tweedles and the Queens are all from 1871 sequel Through the Looking Glass (the Queen in the first book is the playing card Queen of Hearts, not the chess piece Red Queen, although reports that Bonham Carter's version is fond of crying "off with their heads" and has a moat full of bobbing skulls, suggests an amalgamation of the two...

A possible first look into Johnny Depp's character, Mad Hatter, in "Alice in Wonderland" has been unearthed. Bringing it up to the surface was Depp's fansite, Johnny-Depp.org, which claimed to get the pic from Wicked Wench. In the picture, it can be seen that Depp holds a rabbit close to his chest. He is portrayed with dark eyes, pale face and bandaged left thumb.
Though the fansite claims the image to be the first pic of the Mad Hatter, many doubt whether the image is real since the character will most likely be presented in motion capture. Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland is moving along at a pretty good clip, considering how long it took the film to get off the ground. On Friday, we told you that Crispin Glover was joining the cast, and now there are a couple more updates.
Jim Dorey at MarketSaw says that Alan Rickman will play the Caterpillar in the new 3-D live-action/performance capture adaptation of Lewis Carroll's classic. There is also the very distinct possibility that Christopher Lee will be in Wonderland, as well, although the role he'd play is still unclear.
Think of those three new additions and try to see how they fit with Burton, his Alice (Mia Wasikowska), Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp), and a pair of sparring queens (Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham Carter), all set to a Danny Elfman score. That is one trippy ensemble.

With the addition of the typically nefarious character actor of Christopher Lee to Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland lineup, it seems that things are falling nicely down the rabbit-hole for this fantasy flick. Although it has not been confirmed what role he will play, it is inevitable that Lee will bring his most ominous self to the screen. /film reports that, along with Lee, one Elenor Tomlinson has joined the cast. She will play a role that was written exclusively for Burton's updated version of Wonderland. Tomlison will be Fiona Chataway, who is Alice's nemesis in the pre-Wonderland real world. Before you balk at the addition of a new character to Lewis Carrol's already pristine fantasy lineup, consider the screenwriter. Linda Woolverton has worked on the likes of The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, and Mulan, making her a family centric expert. Although I would love...

The cast for Tim Burton's upcoming live action/CGI hybrid re-imagining of Lewis Carroll's classic, Alice In Wonderland, is growing by leaps and bounds. Today, we can add three more names to that list, as well as reveal...

Crispin Glover is the latest intriguing actor to be cast in Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. The line-up already includes Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham-Carter as the Red Queen, Anne Hathaway as the White Queen and Mia Wasikowska as Alice.
Glover will play The Knave of Hearts, who, in the original book, is put on trial in front of the Queen for stealing jam tarts and then defended by Alice as the evidence becomes increasingly absurd.
Burton plans to combine live-action and motion capture to recreate the chaotic and bizarre world of Lewis Carroll’s novel, which is something that Glover will doubtlessly excel at having recently played Grendel in Beowulf.
One of the most underrated performers in the business, Glover hasn’t been given the parts he deserves since his signature role as George McFly in Back To The Future. In fact,...

The Hollywood Reporter has given us the awesome news that Crispin Glover has signed on to play the Knave of Hearts in Tim Burton’s adaptation of “Alice in Wonderland” for Disney. Glover joins Mia Wasikowska as Alice and a cast that includes Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham Carter. Burton is using a combination of live action and performance-capture technology to tell the Lewis Carroll story. The Apa-repped Glover is no stranger to performance-capture technology: He worked in the medium for “Beowulf.” In “Alice," the Knave of Hearts is put on trial for stealing the Queen of Hearts’ tarts and is defended by Alice. And speaking of George McFly—today is October 25th. What’s so special about that, you ask? Why, it’s the day Marty travels back in time thirty years! Tim Burton’s 3D adaptation of Alice in Wonderland has got an additional actor. Crispin Glover would probably top the list to play the next character from the movie. He will play the Knave of Hearts in this new adaptation of the movie.
In the original Lewis Carroll book Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, the Knaves of Hearts is put on trial for robbery after he supposedly stole the Queen of Harts’ and took them quite away. Alice eventually defends him after the evidence becomes more and more absurd.
This will be the second time that Glover uses this method of acting after he played Grendel in Robert Zemeckis 2007 film Beowulf. Clover joins Mia Wasikowska, Johnny depp, Matt Lucas, Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham Carter.

Some good news came down regarding Tim Burton’s upcoming unnecessary re-interpretation of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland; Crispin Glover has joined the cast as the Knave of Hearts according to THR!
Glover joins Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway and Mia Wasikowska as Alice, the young girl who takes a trip down beyond the looking glass and finds herself in a twisted world full of odd creatures. The film will utilize live action and motion-capture performances to stand out from other adaptations.
It’s surprising that this is the first time Glover and Burton have teamed up, but perhaps because they’re both so damn odd they’ll just cancel one another out? Man I hope not!

The La Times spoke to Tim Burton on the set of his Alice in Wonderland and picked the directors mind a bit about his upcoming adaptation of the Lewis Carroll classic. Burton fans won’t want to miss this Tuesday’s Scream Awards on Spike TV where the 50 year old director will be presented with the “Immortal Award” On his vision for Alice: “It’s a funny project. The story is obviously a classic with iconic images and ideas and thoughts. But with all the movie versions, well, I’ve just never seen one that really had any impact to me. It’s always just a series of weird events. Every character is strange and she’s just kind of wandering through all of the encounters as just a sort of observer. The goal is to try to make it an engaging movie where you get some of the...

Anne Hathaway, who was criminally underutilized while hosting SNL last weekend, has joined the cast of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, according to Hr. Disney has also announced that Helena Bonham Carter is involved, but anyone who saw the production photos which leaked out last week already knew that she was at the least, in the general vicinity. It is a Tim Burton movie after all, her husband tends to get her a lot of work. Anne is slated to play the White Queen, banished, benevolent sister of the evil Red Queen (Helena Bonham). If you're wondering who the heck the Red Queen is, in every previous version of Lewis Carroll's classic Alice tale, she's been referred to as the Queen of Hearts. The Queen of Hearts is the vicious dictator who runs around screaming "off with his head!" It looks like Burton's version will be dispensing with...

Lewis Carroll was a master of bizarre fantasy, willful illogic, and headstrong characters. Not surprisingly, that often makes his shape-shifting prose relevant to present-day concerns. Consider Alice’s fall down the rabbit hole:
The rabbit-hole … dipped suddenly down, so suddenly that Alice had not a moment to think about stopping herself before she found herself falling down what seemed to be a very deep well.
Either the well was very deep, or she fell very slowly, for she had plenty of time as she went down to look about her, and to wonder what was going to happen next. …
Down, down, down. Would the fall never come to an end?
– Lewis Carroll, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland
If we were focused on the broader world, we’d note how woefully applicable this passage is to the current economic crisis — will the fall never come to an end?
Or we might...
