Walter Avancini had the idea of producing a soap opera featuring Dracula after he watched a Broadway adaptation. Avancini ended up being fired from the show for leading a strike on the network. Both Avancini and writer Rubens Ewald Filho returned for the remade, completed version Um Homem Muito Especial (1980).
Canceled after four episodes due to Tupi TV's financial crisis, which brought the company to an end. Writer Rubens Ewald Filho then rewrote the episodes and continued the story in a new version on a different network: Um Homem Muito Especial (1980).
Predates (along with its remake Um Homem Muito Especial (1980) ) Brazilian television's more famous vampire telenovelas Vamp (1991) and O Beijo do Vampiro (2002).
