Some of the people who are interviewed were portrayed by actors in Backstairs at the White House (1979), including the writer of the book which "Backstairs" was based on, Lillian Rogers Parks, although no reference to that book or miniseries was spoken or credited on screen.
Several of the long-time historical White House staff members who were interviewed on camera died just before or just after the film was first broadcast, including dedicatee Alonzo Fields (in 1993, age 94) and Lillian Rogers Parks (in 1997, age 100), who wrote a book, "My Thirty Years Backstairs at the White House," which was made into a mini-series in 1979.
