A mess
guisreis14 September 2022
Despite seeming interesting in the very beginning, unfortunately this film is bad, just a mess. Several side stories begin but are not continued. It is quite hard to say what the film is about, and that is not because it is complex or sophisticated, but because it simply lacks a proper script. There are several well known actors, most of them is ridiculously minor roles, besides Pelé in one of his few (and bad as all the other ones) roles in narrative cinema, and even a friend of mine that I never knew that had been an actress. Events just overlap prior ones often without making sense in a sluggish stretching or postponement of an end. The crime issue, that should have been better explored (there is a robbery, a gunfight, a gang running numbers game...), is just too shallow and meaningless for the looping complicated love affair story. Even though there is not reason for that, the director, accustomed to make erotic movies, found a way of showing women in topless in a somewhat embarrassing scene of Pelé on a boat embracing one of them and celebrating that had received by Tarcísio Meira's gangster character a prostitute as a gift. Some dialogues are just terrible too, and became even worse as Marcela Praddo was beautiful but lacked acting skills (indeed, even great actor José Wilker seemed ordinary here despite also having a major role).
