Vance (“Lovecraft Country”) and Carl Weathers (“The Mandalorian”). Scroll down to see which episodes the Emmy voters will be watching to judge the nominees’ performances.

Though you may not realize it, Don Cheadle has accrued 10 Emmy nominations throughout his career, receiving bids in the comedy, drama and limited series/TV movie categories. The versatile actor, who currently stars on Showtime’s dark comedy “Black Monday” as Maurice “Mo” Monroe, has already earned two consecutive nominations for Best Comedy Actor for his performance. And although the show is ineligible for this year’s Emmys, Cheadle still has an opportunity to earn his 11th Emmy nom come July, this time in the Best Drama Guest Actor category.
Making the jump from Marvel movies to Marvel TV shows, Cheadle reprised his fan-favorite role of Colonel James “Rhodey” Rhodes, aka War Machine, in the series premiere of Disney+’s six-episode series “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.” It was a brief appearance; Rhodey is present when Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) turns over Steve Rogers’ (Chris Evans) iconic shield to...

Emmy voters continue to prove that overdue narratives don’t factor into their decisions when picking winners. Just ask actors like Martin Sheen (“The West Wing”), Amy Poehler (“Parks and Recreation”) and last year’s Lena Headey (“Game of Thrones”), who were never able to win Emmys for their respective iconic performances. Not everyone can be as lucky as Jon Hamm (“Mad Men”), one of the rare cases of an overdue actor actually being given the Emmy for the final season of their show.
This year, while voters did finally reward overdue favorites like Maya Rudolph and Kerry Washington for the first time, there were numerous actors at the 2020 Emmys who weren’t quite as lucky. Below is a list of the nine Emmy nominees who have now racked up at least five losses from the TV academy.

“Black Monday” returned for its second season this past March. The financial industry satire follows the Jammer Group, a fictional Wall Street trading firm at the center of the real-life title event: the sudden stock market crash that took place on October 19, 1987. This year the show explored the aftermath of that crash. Scroll down for our exclusive video interviews with top Emmy contenders from the show.

The Emmys are a notoriously unsentimental bunch, as we saw last week with the guest categories, passing over overdue favorites Phylicia Rashad and Adam Sandler. Several actors went into Sunday’s Emmy telecast with numerous losses under their belt, hoping this may finally be their time to go from bridesmaid to bride. Would Sandra Oh finally find herself wielding an Emmy statuette? Could actors on the last seasons of their shows get a farewell hug, like Lena Headey? (See full list of Emmy winners.)

After racking up big box office for nearly three decades, funnyman Jim Carrey could crack the Emmy race this year with his starring role in the new Showtime series “Kidding.” Carrey has already earned a Golden Globe nomination for his series, which casts him as a popular children’s puppet show host trying to piece his life back together after the sudden death of his son. That was his seventh career bid from the HFPA; he previously won prizes for his dramatic performances in “The Truman Show” and “Man on the Moon” and competed for his comedic roles in “The Mask,” “Liar Liar,” “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.”

Echo Lake Leaders Reflect on 20 Years of Indie Film: "The Best Stories Are Going to Rise to the Top"
When Doug Mankoff started Echo Lake Entertainment 20 years ago he knew that, for an independent producer-financier, it would be easy to miss the mark. “The bull’s-eye was always really hard to hit, and it’s just gotten smaller and smaller,” says Mankoff of the indie film space, where one failure could mean financial ruin.
After building up clout in the festival markets and with titles like 2001’s Peabody-winning Things Behind the Sun, the financier and production company found itself at the 2005 Toronto Film Festival with three titles (Tsotsi, Water and 12 and Holding). President Andrew Spaulding,...

Yes Studios is the new sales, distribution and production arm of Israeli multi-channel broadcaster Yes TV, where the series will broadcast. They are currently looking for international broadcasters or platforms for the series.
The series follows three close friends, each on the autistic spectrum. The 20-somethings share a sheltered apartment where they learn to cope with the larger world around them.
Ron is a computer genius who earned his degree online and prefers to work from home; Amit is a constantly-smiling creature of habit that visits the same café every day and eats round after round of chocolate croissants; and Zohar, perhaps the most social of the three, is constantly looking for love.

Film Independent Artist Development is design to empower diverse and visionary artists to tell authentic and meaningful stories. One of their most comprehensive initiatives is the Film Independent Directing Lab. This is an intensive eight-week program that runs in Los Angeles in February and March. Under the guidance of established industry professionals who serve as Creative Advisors, Directing Lab Fellows receive script feedback, discuss their visions, and select short scenes from their screenplays to workshop.
Each director then casts actors and rehearses their scenes in the Lab before undertaking a mini-production: Film Independent provides Fellows with digital camera, lighting and sound packages and small stipends to shoot their scenes, and offers access to experienced casting directors, cinematographers, and editors with whom to collaborate and consult.
The process creates an opportunity to see the work through from pre- to post-production, and culminates in a group screening for fellow Lab participants and Advisors. Directors developing a narrative fiction feature film are invited to apply by Monday, September 14.
In addition to the Lab benefits, Directing Fellows will receive:
• a pass to the Directors Close-Up series
• a pass to the 2016 Los Angeles Film Festival
• inclusion in the Film Independent Talent Guide
• a community of fellow filmmakers
• Grant, funding and resource opportunities from Film Independent
Past Lab Advisors include Allison Anders ("Gas, Food Lodging," "Things Behind the Sun"), Rodrigo Garcia ("Mother and Child," "Albert Nobbs"), Catherine Hardwicke ("Twilight," "Thirteen") Nicole Holofcener ("Enough Said," "Lovely and Amazing"), Karyn Kusama ("Girlfight," "Jennifer's Body"), James Ponsoldt ("The End of the Tour," "The Spectacular Now") and Jeremy Podeswa ("Game of Thrones," "The Newsroom").

The Blair Witch Project celebrates its 15th anniversary in the UK today (October 22).
The frightening, low-budget, found-footage horror movie was written and directed by Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez, and featured an unknown cast who used their own names in the film.
The Blair Witch Project 15 years on: The horror movie that changed everything
It became the first of its kind in Hollywood due to its commercial success and viral online campaign, which was created to make the production look like a real documentary. The Blair Witch website with details on the made-up mythology still exists.
And the clever campaign worked on some gullible and vulnerable viewers. We remember witnessing real tears of fear being shed by some audience members in the cinema (and definitely not ours...).
It purports to be a documentary shot by three inquisitive, daring, and at times daft students investigating the local Blair Witch legend in the Maryland forest.

Ten years after his breakthrough, Don Cheadle has changed gears. He tells John Patterson about pranks, poker and that infamous 'London' accent
This is not the first time I've met Don Cheadle. That was 10 years ago, and I remind him of this when we meet again at his office in a fancy part of Santa Monica, about five blocks from the ocean. He told me back then to meet him in a public park in Santa Monica at 8am (thanks a bunch, Don) where I duly fetched up 10 minutes early. After about 20 minutes' wait, I noticed a young man lying spreadeagled under a tree 50ft away, looking hungover or derelict. After another 10 minutes, I started getting paranoid, as I remembered that Cheadle had spent time recently with master-prankster George Clooney on Ocean's Eleven. The more my thoughts ran this way, the more the man under the tree began vaguely to resemble the lean,...

Academy Award-nominated actor Don Cheadle (Iron Man 2) has signed on to star in the pilot for House of Lies, a half-hour, dark comedy created and written by Matthew Carnahan (Dirt) from the hit tell-all book House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Tell You the Time by Martin Kihn, which will go into production in February 2011 in Los Angeles, CA. Jessica Borsicsky (Flash Forward) will serve as executive producer, and Emmy winner Stephen Hopkins (Californication, 24) will direct. “Don Cheadle is one of the great dramatic actors of our generation,” said Showtime President of Entertainment David Nevins. “He also happens to be an extremely funny man. House of Lies is the perfect show to take advantage of both sides of him. Honestly, I would have been happy just to get his autograph.” House of Lies is a subversive, scathing look at a self-loathing management consultant from a top-tier firm.

Music has always been a major element of Allison Anders' films. "Border Radio," "Grace of My Heart" and "Sugar Town" are actually about musicians. "Sugar Town" is named after a Nancy Sinatra song and features John Taylor of Duran Duran, Martin Kemp of Spandau Ballet and John Doe of X in major roles. The lead character of "Things Behind the Sun" (named after a Nick Drake song) is about a music journalist who tracks down a childhood friend turned rising rock star.
"Things Behind the Sun" came out in 2001, and Anders hasn't done a film since, directed instead episodes of "The L Word" and "What About Brian" and founding the Don't Knock The Rock Film And Music Festival. But she has a new project with longtime collaborator Kurt Voss up on Kickstarter:
