Known in English as "With Hands Raised," this 6 minute short film is an exquisite piece of film making, certainly one of the best and original shorts ever made. It imagines the moments before and after a famous WWII photo was taken (the photo of a line-up of Jewish captives and Nazi guards in the Warsaw Ghetto, the Jews with their hands raised over their heads, a small boy with a cap in the foreground). The film takes its time to study the moment, the act of the photo being taken (in the short it is a newsreel rather than a still photo). It won the Palme D'Or in Cannes for short film.
