I am beyond giddy with childlike excitement for Disney night!! It has been so fun remembering all of our fun Disney moments — from fave movies all the way to watching Lion King on Broadway. I can’t wait for everyone to see such memories come to life on the dance floor.

It seems like only yesterday the Internet was going crazy for Jeremy Meeks, a.k.a. Hot Mugshot Guy, thanks to the piercing blue eyes and chiseled cheekbones he displayed in his booking photo for, um, well, felony weapons charges. Were we ever so young? Now it’s been nearly three years since his Hot Mugshot went viral – and in that time he’s been released from prison, signed to a modeling agency, and now has not only traveled to New York for Fashion Week, he’s met with one of the most famous fashion editors in the business. But...

All week our writers will debate: Which was the greatest film year of the past half century. Click here for a complete list of our essays. When I picked this year, it was under the mistaken assumption that we were writing on the best film of a year, and not the best film year in general. But having realized the mistake, I stand by my choice. 1995 is still the best! Straight up: 1995 wins, because Todd Haynes’s “[Safe]" is still my favorite film to have come out since, Idk, I’ve been alive. It’s deeply self-conscious about genre, while still managing to not really resemble anything I’ve ever seen. It’s the perfect film about L.A.; about how space is mobilized in cinema; about the environment; about Gothic horror; about white femininity; about film bodies; about falling in love in the movies. It’s Todd Motherf*#@$^ Haynes’s best film.

Angelica Huston's black bob swings back and forth, keeping time with the click of her heels on the sidewalk. As the Oscar-winning actress passes, she throws us a warm but impish smile and then fades into the nighttime air. Her departure cheers the crowd, which has been waiting in the cold and will finally be called to fill the ground floor of Vbh Luxury on New York's Upper East Side. Jill Scott has reportedly said that her "soul burns" every time she see a "successful black man with a white woman". In an interview with Essence magazine, the R&B-soul singer-songwriter said that she wished that a male, African-American friend was married to a black, rather than a Caucasian, woman. Scott wrote: "My new friend is handsome, African-American, intelligent and seemingly wealthy. He is an athlete, loves his momma, and is happily married to a white woman. I admit when I saw his wedding ring, I privately hoped. But something in me just knew he didn't marry a sister. Although my guess hit the mark, when my friend told me his wife was indeed Caucasian, I felt my spirit wince. I didn't immediately understand it. My face read happy for you. My body showed no reaction to my inner pinch, but the sting was there, quiet like a mosquito (more...
