Actor Terry Crews is best known for the portrayal of Terry Jeffords in the sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine. While the sitcom made Crews a household name, the actor initially struggled to carve a name for himself in Hollywood, having made his film debut in 2000. One of Crews’ earliest roles was in Denzel Washington’s 2001 crime thriller film Training Day.

While the film earned Washington an Academy Award for Best Actor, it also gave Crews a start in Hollywood. In a recent interview, Crews spoke about getting paid next to nothing for his role in the movie. However, the actor revealed how the film helped him further his career and he remained grateful for the experience. Here is what Terry Crews said about his early struggles in Hollywood.

He played one of the most charismatic characters in TV history, so when Terry O’Quinn popped by Entertainment Weekly Radio (SiriusXM, channel 105) to talk about his new Fox drama Gang Related (which debuts May 22), we knew we also had to chat with him about his Emmy winning turn as John Locke on Lost. Apparently, we are not alone, as O’Quinn told us that people still stop him on the street hoping to crack the code on that character and the show in general. “That’s what people generally stop me for and talk to me about now is Lost,...

Jimmy Fallon took lip-syncing to a whole new level! The late night host enlisted athlete-turned-actor Terry Crews to perform a shirtless duet -- or a nip sync -- of the Paul McCartney-Stevie Wonder hit "Ebony and Ivory" on Monday's "Tonight Show."The 45-year-old "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" star showed off his cut chest, while Fallon opted for a chest double as his head can be seen superimposed over a buff, oiled-up hunk's torso.Crews has clearly been spending some time in the gym, and we would love to meet Jimmy's body double! Check out the hilarious video above. Not only did the former NFL player show off his nip-syncing skills, but he also talked about one of his first jobs after retiring from football. "I played a character called T-Money on a show called Battle Dome. Now, Battle Dome was basically American Gladiators on steroids," he said in a "Tonight Show" web exclusive.

Is nip-syncing is the new lip-syncing? Jimmy Fallon and athlete-turned-actor Terry Crews performed a synchronized rendition of the Paul McCartney-Stevie Wonder duet "Ebony and Ivory" on Monday's Tonight Show. The pair put their pecs to work for the number—but while Crews was indeed shirtless, Fallon used a green screen to appear more muscular. No matter—the comedic bit was a hit, and it appears both stars were both singing live. If that seems weird, it pales in comparison to one of his first jobs after retiring from the NFL. Terry Crews just has a good time. He laughs easily, frequently and loudly.
Whether he talks about his NFL days, his five kids or his latest role as Sgt. Terry Jeffords on Fox's Tuesday comedy "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," Crews is laid back and ready for fun.
At 45, Crews says he's happily surprised with life.
"I thought I would be a special effects artist after I retired from the NFL," he tells Zap2it at a Fox party. "I moved out here, and I ran out of money, and a friend invited me to go on an audition. And I got it. It was 'Battle Dome.' It was 'American Gladiators' to the 10th power -- we were sending people to the hospital. And then I went on a movie audition. The first movie audition I ever got was 'The 6th Day.' "
Since that 2000 Arnold Schwarzenegger movie, Crews has worked steadily.

Terry Crews loves "Star Wars." This is something that I would never have guessed to be an interest of Terry Crews. In other words: It's not something I would imagine Crews had very many conversations about in the locker room during his seven years in the NFL. Regardless, Crews identifies himself as a "geek" -- and being at San Diego Comic-Con, he's in the right place.
Crews -- who, I must admit, is an absolute delight to meet in person -- takes over for Mr. T as the voice of Officer Devereux in the upcoming "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2." Regardless of that, it's been a nice couple of years for Crews. He's no longer just additional muscle in another "Expendables" movie -- he's actually acting (he was almost unrecognizable in the fourth season of "Arrested Development"). I get the sense that he's having the time of his life.

In a new casting report of "The Expendables", director/actor Sylvester Stallone has revealed to StalloneZone that he has offered Kurt Russell to take part in the film, but has been declined. "I know that many people on the site have asked for Kurt Russell. I asked for him too," he fessed up. "Actually, I was taken aback when asked to put the request in a letter and send it to his agent."
"Subsequently, I was called back by the agent several days later after refusing to send a letter and he said Kurt Russell is not interested in 'ensemble acting' at this time," he furthermore explained. In the end of his message, he wrote down, "So, People, I came, I saw, I failed."
Meanwhile, in a new update to 50 Cent casting report, it is claimed that the rapper won't be taking any participation in the Stallone-directed action project. Coming...
