Broken Fourth Wall
It may say something about the art (or at least craft) of adult entertainment that the best scene in this video is the first one, a lesbian scene between smoky-voiced Shayla LaVeaux and then-rookie Devinn Lane, in one of her first scenes ever. What's so remarkable about that, you may ask? This scene has no connection to the rest of the film whatsoever, and Shayla admits it when she gets done and starts talking directly to the camera.
In this video's moderately surreal storyline, Shayla plays herself, poking around (quite literally) in what would otherwise be a typical "adult romance film" starring Juli Ashton as a woman wondering whether or not she ought to settle down. Shayla's comedic talents are ... well, let's just say it's a good thing she doesn't work in mainstream entertainment. That said, there's a fairly amusing scene towards the middle -- Shayla's restricted to appearing in three sex scenes, of which she's already done two, so while she watches yet another, she flips a coin to decide whether she should join in on this one, while the couple make out oblivious to her presence. (The coin vanishes.)
Darling is a silly piece of adult fluff that's really only made remarkable by the early appearance of Miss Devinn Lane, whose recent decision to work entirely behind the scene is a sad loss. Still, fans of Juli Ashton will also enjoy her three scenes ...
