Ryan Guzman has nothing but love for Jennifer Lopez.
“I don’t think I won’t ever talk to J Lo. She’s amazing, she’s a friend of mine,” Guzman told People Now at People En Español‘s 20th Anniversary celebration of their “Los Más Bellos” (aka “Most Beautiful”) list on Tuesday. “She’s always there for me.”
As it turns out, the actor says that his Boy Next Door costar is the one responsible for setting up his Instagram account — though she hasn’t yet commented on any of his posts.
“I don’t even think she sees !” he laughs.

If you've ever watched an “adult” movie, you know of the contrived situations, the cheesy soundtrack, and the gasping bodies. You'd laugh if a lowly movie critic complained of that movie's plot inconsistencies, its horrible acting, or the needless dialogue. So I won't blame you if you laugh while I tell you the many ways in which Nick Jonas's new film, the self-styled erotic thriller Careful What You Wish For, is not much more than glorified softcore. Which is to say that you may very well really enjoy seeing it. I certainly did.
The movie is a straight-up remake of the 1980s cult classic Body Heat, starring William Hurt and Kathleen Turner. Jonas, in all his heartthrob, beefcake glory, plays starry-eyed youth Doug (“Douggie”) Martin, who falls hard for an older woman, his neighbor's attractive wife Lena, played by the impossibly hot model Isabel Lucas. The neighbor, Elliot Harper...

The past decade hasn't been too kind to director Rob Cohen. The director, who is perhaps best known for directing Vin Diesel in the "Fast and the Furious" and "xXx" in the early 2000s hasn't done much for me to be excited about in recent years. In 2005, he directed "Stealth," the forgettable plane movie starring Jamie Foxx. In 2008, he directed the third "Mummy" flick, which effectively ended the franchise. In 2012, he directed the terrible "Alex Cross" movie, and most recently, he helmed the Jennifer Lopez vehicle "Boy Next Door," which wasn't any better received by viewers or critics.
It's now been revealed that Cohen will be going back to the crazy silly action genre with "Category 5," a film that "follows a team of tech hackers who infiltrate a U.S. Mint facility on a small coastal town to steal $102M in cash, just as a disastrous Category 5 hurricane, the storm of the century,...

Universal Pictures holds a solid edge in box office market share as the midpoint of 2015 nears. The studio’s “Jurassic World” passed Disney’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” as the year’s highest-grossing film in North America on Friday. But defending champ 20th Century Fox isn’t ready to concede just yet, and Warner Bros. and Disney aren’t giving up, either. With the latest in the dinosaur-movie franchise gobbling up ticket sales, as well as success of “Furious 7,” “Fifty Shades of Grey,” “Pitch Perfect 2,” the low-budget “Boy Next Door” and the even lower-budget “Unfriended,” Universal has connected...

Hollywood can destroy people. For every survivor of the Hollywood system, whether from years ago or any current actors, there are dozens of actors and other artists who crashed and burned, had serious substance abuse issues, committed suicide or never made it at all.
Just from memory I can name Barbara Payton, Jayne Mansfield, Jeanne Eagles, Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Diana Sands and Montgomery Clift. For a complete rundown you can’t do much better than Kenneth Anger’s incredible book Hollywood Babylon and it’s even more depressing sequel Hollywood Babylon Part Two. Jennifer Lopez has legs for days! The "Booty" singer showed off her super toned gams at the "American Idol" Xiv Finalist party in Los Angeles on Wednesday night. The star stole the spotlight in an embellished micro-mini dress from Marchesa's Spring 2015 Notte collection. She paired the look with suede Casadei pumps and accessorized with a high ponytail and a white clutch. Although the "Boy Next Door" star is stunning, there's a lot going on with this look. For starters, that dress is so short, it could be a top ... and we're not loving the sheer sleeves. Her eye makeup is also two shades too light. The super short dresses seem to be a trend for the 45-year-old lately though. She donned a tangerine Valentino mini with matching Versace strappy sandals on Tuesday for the taping of "American Idol Xiv's" top 12 reveal show. This color looks amazing on her! What do...

The Soft Skin (Criterion Collection) I have not yet written my review of this, but I have watched the movie, just not the features, and it is excellent. The Soft Skin is French New Wave meets Alfred Hitchcock meets the tonal darkness of David Fincher's Gone Girl. I absolutely loved it. The movie tells of a married man who embarks on an affair with a stewardess and the tension that steadily grows until the unexpectedly amazing finale. If any of that sounds good to you, this is a blind buy candidate.

She sings, she dances, she's on the American Idol judging panel and, on the odd occasion, she acts. Considering the super-busy Jennifer Lopez only makes a film once every couple of years (her last screen outing was 2013's second-tier Statham vehicle Parker), you'd think she'd be a little more discerning in her choice of roles. After watching the abysmal Boy Next Door, that red-hot breakthrough in Out of Sight feels firmly out of mind.
Her latest has aspirations to be the kind of slick and stylish adult thriller popularised in the '80s and '90s, but ends up imploding thanks to a clunky script, off-key performances and a tone that swings wildly between ultra-serious and camp comedy. Warner Brothers has reasons to shout with both joy and shame this week. The studio’s American Sniper estimated $24.1 million puts it at $282.3 million and, most likely, the film to beat for 2015 box office (at least at this point), but it was finally topped in weekend earnings by The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water (estimated $56 million). Adding major injury to this minor insult, Warner came up almost totally dry with Jupiter Ascending. At $176 million in budget costs alone, the latest offering from the Wachowskis debuted in third with an estimated $19 million, continuing a string of big budget flops for the director/writers. However, while likely not doing well, the unreported budget of the debuting Seventh Son is no consolation for the action fantasy epic and its estimated $7.1 million.

There were three new releases this week, but with American Sniper reigning once more at the top of the box office with an estimated $31.9 million…and at $248.9 million and counting, it is the fifth highest earning R-Rated film of all time…it is understandable that they are not exactly the top draws, especially considering their critical reception. Even Paddington, for instance, entered its third week in second place with an estimated $8.5 million, just edging out the estimated $8.5 million for the time travel suspense thriller Project Almanac (though at only $12 million to make, it does not have much work to become profitable), and doing far better than the latest Kevin Costner vehicle Black or White, which brought in an estimated $6.5 million. Neither film is making much headway critically, but both have weathered those storms better than The Loft, a Karl Urban-starring Hitchcockian thriller which debuted in tenth with an estimated $2.9 million.

Update, Monday Actuals, 4 Pm: All of the top 10 films, except for Fox’s Taken 3, came in lower than their weekend projections yesterday morning due to the Super Bowl, with Warner Bros./Village Roadshow missing its target record as the largest grossing title over Super Bowl weekend. Said one rival distribution chief, “It’s hard to nail down these predictions down to the penny when there is something so extraordinary like the Super Bowl in the market. No one saw this as being the highest-rated Super Bowl ever. Next weekend will be easier to project.” Warner Bros. was initially anticipating a 70% drop on Super Bowl Sunday for American Sniper from its Saturday B.O. of $16.5M but yesterday charted lower with a 74% decline for $4.4M.

There’s no sign of Warner Bros. Pictures’ American Sniper slowing down at the box office.
Estimates have Clint Eastwood‘s drama taking in $31.9 million over this Super Bowl weekend. The Oscar-nominated film has an estimated domestic total of $248 million. The movie, which opened on December 25, 2014, has crossed the $300 million mark globally.
American Sniper is just one the films to be honored tomorrow, February 2, at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ annual Nominees Luncheon.
Among the Lead Actor and Actress nominees, Steve Carell, Bradley Cooper, Marion Cotillard, Felicity Jones, Michael Keaton, Julianne Moore, Rosamund Pike, Eddie Redmayne and Reese Witherspoon are expected to attend the pre-Oscars event.
Other Best Picture hopefuls are still plugging along at local and international cinemas. The Theory Of Everything’s cumulative numbers stand at $29m domestic, $70.7m worldwide, The Imitation Game’s estimated receipts are $60.6m U.S., internationally $117.6m and Birdman numbers...

American Sniper earned more than all three new releases combined on Friday, which sets it up to easily take first place for the third weekend in a row.The Clint Eastwood war drama added an estimated $10.02 million yesterday, which is off 45 percent from the prior week. Considering how well it held last weekend, that's a surprisingly steep drop; with the Super Bowl coming up on Sunday, Sniper now seems poised to fall around 50 percent over the full three-day weekend ($30 to $32 million).Through 15 days in wide release, American Sniper has earned $227.1 million. That ranks ninth among 2014 releases; by the end of the weekend, it will move up to sixth place ahead of Transformers: Age of Extinction. In second place, found footage time travel movie Project Almanac flopped with $3.2 million. In comparison, Chronicle, The Woman in Black and Warm Bodies all opened over $8 million on the Friday ahead of the Super Bowl.

Ryan Guzman talked about going dark for his role opposite Jennifer Lopez in Rob Cohen’s “The Boy Next Door” and then showing his lighter side in an upcoming baseball comedy written and directed by Oscar-nominated Richard Linklater (“Boyhood”).

Warner Bros.’ war saga is the first January blockbuster while Universal and Jason Blum prove micro-budgets aren’t just for horror movies
“American Sniper” and the sexy Jennifer Lopez thriller “The Boy Next Door,” the top two movies at the box office this weekend, could be giving Hollywood a glimpse at its future.
The Iraq War saga has turned January, a month that for years has been a box office dead zone, into a hot spot. It’s blitzed the domestic box office for $200 million in 10 days, obliterating records for R-rated movies, holiday weekends and the month in the process.

There seems to be no stopping American Sniper. With an estimated $64.4 million, it not only handily took the weekend box office by storm, it surpassed $200.1 million in revenue. It stood head and shoulders above even second-place finisher The Boy Next Door, which brought in only an estimated $15 million in comparison, but budgeted at only $4 million, it managed to be a wild success on its own merits. Paddington, with an estimated $12.4 million, refuses to say whether it is a success (which it may be if counting worldwide revenue), but considering its critical acclaim, its $40.1 million in domestic revenue is on the low side, especially considering it is one of only three family friendly films at the box office this weekend.

It was the tale of two stars at the weekend box office, one who opened a film — Jennifer Lopez with Universal’s The Boy Next Door at $15M — and one who tanked — Johnny Depp with Lionsgate’s Mortdecai at $4.1M. The discrepancy between the two films showed one star, Lopez, who kept it cheap and met her audience’s wants head-on, and another, Depp, who at a high price lost himself in a zany caricature disconnected from reality.
Universal’s Blumhouse production Boy Next Door kept it lean and mean with a production budget of $4M, while Lionsgate/OddLot spent $60M on Mortdecai, a figure many still consider exorbitant for an avant garde Depp film in the wake of his spring sci-fi bomb Transcendence which cost $100M.
One studio executive summed it up perfectly today, saying, “Depp should take a page from Jennifer Lopez’s book and do a low-budget...

Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Village Roadshow Pictures’ Oscar-nominated mega hit American Sniper has surpassed $200 million worldwide at the domestic box office on only its tenth day in wide release.
Following its record-breaking first weekend in wide release, the Clint Eastwood-directed film has continued to fill conventional and IMAX theatres nationwide. American Sniper took in an estimated $64.4 million this past weekend, representing the smallest percentage drop ever for a film that opened at more than $85 million, including both three- and four-day weekends, and bringing the domestic gross to $200.1 million and climbing.
The R rated American Sniper is now, domestically, the highest-grossing film in Eastwood’s long career, and it is on track to become his top-grossing film worldwide. The film has earned six Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actor (Cooper), and Best Adapted Screenplay (Jason Hall).

Final Update, Sunday Am: Warner Bros. is reporting that American Sniper will raise its domestic cume to $200.1M through Sunday after a massive $64.4M weekened at 3,705 theaters, the third-highest weekend ever in January, behind Sniper’s opening last weekend, and Avatar’s third Fss of $68.5M.
That figure, should it hold into tomorrow, marks a mere 28-percent slip – the best second-week hold for a wide release ever for a film that debuted with more than $85M. Previous to this, the best big debuts to hold an audience were 2004’s Shrek 2 (down 33 percent in its second frame) and 2002’s Spider-Man (down 38 percent). American Sniper is marching toward $300M, a mark only six Warner Bros. films have passed.
“Many exhibitors are hearing from their theater managers that the infrequent moviegoers who go only two to three times a year, are coming out to see this movie,” said Warner Bros. distribution chief Dan Fellman.

This week Jennifer Lopez stars in "The Boy Next Door," a suburban psychosexual thriller where Lopez plays a recently separated teacher who has an affair with the (legally of-age) boy next door (Ryan Guzman), only to find her on the receiving end of brutal harassment and some profane graffiti (among other things). This is a movie that is so bad that it eclipse its own awfulness and becomes kind of good again. If I had seen it on opening night, in a packed theater full of screaming, susceptible fans, then I probably would have had the time of my life with it. Instead, I was in a stuffy midtown screening room and while there were certainly jolts of approval from the everyday folks the studio sneaked in, it was hard not to snicker in derision every chance we could.

<< Continued from "'Sniper' to Easily Fight Off Weak Competition This Weekend"Opening at 2,648 locations, Mortdecai will likely be Johnny Depp's latest misfire at the domestic box office. He stars as the title character, a "debonair art dealer and part time rogue" who goes on a mission to recover a stolen painting.Marketing has positioned the movie as a broad slapstick comedy, and there's been a heavy emphasis placed on Mortdecai's silly-looking mustache. That includes a series of posters that feature each of the main stars, including Gwyneth Paltrow and Olivia Munn, wearing a similar mustache. While this quirky choice has helped differentiate the movie, it seems too slight to really translate in to ticket sales. In general, this is a pretty odd project. It's adapted from a series of novels by British author Kyril Bonfiglioli, which were originally published in the 1970s; while they surely have some fans,...
