BBC’s hit motoring entertainment show “Top Gear” is relocating from London to Bristol next year.
The move to the South West will take place in spring 2022. The show’s 33rd season will be the first to be produced solely from Bristol.
The BBC said the move would “create a number of openings for editorial and production management personnel based in the nations and regions,” in a statement.
BBC Studios Bristol is already the home to a number of the network’s best-known factual entertainment shows, including “Antiques Roadshow,” “Countryfile” and “DIY Sos.”
The Natural History Unit, which produces series such as “Blue Planet II” and “Springwatch” is also based there.
“Top Gear” fans can rest assured, however, that the Dunsfold Aerodrome in Surrey — which the BBC calls the show’s “spiritual home” — will still be used.
“Top Gear,” which is currently in production on its 31st season, regularly films around the U.

Joanna Lumley, Ray Winstone and Richard Wilson are among celebs who will appear in a series of short films which aimed at getting more military veterans into ‘civvy street’.

Downtown Abbey’s Hugh Bonneville, Diy Sos star Nick Knowles and ex-EastEnders Larry Lamb and Michelle Collins also highlight the skills, attitude and knowledge ex-soldiers, sailors and airmen can bring to employers.
Entitled, ‘Veterans Work’, the films, by The Drive Project, were produced to encourage UK businesses to consider veterans as viable options to fill vacancies.
Their release follows a study by Deloitte and the Officers’ Association and the Forces in Mind Trust, which revealed UK plc is failing to realise the potential of veterans, putting ex-military personnel at a disadvantage.
The alarming revelation emerged despite nearly 2,000 British businesses having signing the Armed Forces Covenant – a Ministry of Defence scheme designed...

Last Spring there was a British indie called Golden Years – a film which has, for the most part, an identical narrative structure to what we’re now seeing in Hollywood picture Going in Style. Though the credentials of the cast is wildly different, not to mention the resources available to the respective filmmakers – there’s little that separates the two movies in terms of quality, and the former was written by Diy Sos’s very own Nick Knowles. This time, our primary storyteller is Zach Braff, a filmmaker accused of being too overtly quirky, and contrived in his commitment to whimsicality in his preceding endeavours. So now while he’s thankfully toned it down somewhat, he’s gone too far in the opposite direction, presenting a film that is frustratingly generic.

This comedy drama about a group of older people embarking on a crime spree falls flat
The dearth of – and appetite for – films featuring older protagonists was demonstrated by the success of The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and its sequel. So in theory, this light-hearted comedy drama about a group of OAPs who decide to supplement their pension shortfalls with a crime spree should find a receptive audience. In practice, however, despite a likable cast of television and theatre stalwarts, this limps along like a botched hip operation. The production values lack polish and the performances lack vital life signs, but the main problem is a screenplay (co-written by Nick Knowles, present of Diy Sos) that leans heavily on jokes that are older than the cast and that stopped being funny several millennia ago.

There are the seeds of something interesting in this cack-handed comedy, but the talent – including Virginia McKenna and Simon Callow – are ill-served
Related: Nick Knowles: 'I can’t go to Cannes because I’m recording a Saturday-night quiz show'
“Banks, bowls … and bingo” is the tagline of the pensioners-turn-crims comedy – and it’s cack-handedness offers an early clue to the botched plot and groaning dialogue to come (the script is courtesy of Diy Sos star Nick Knowles). Bernard Hill and Virginia McKenna play Arthur and Martha Good – again, a bad sign, that – whose happy retirement is threatened after his pension pot is suddenly depleted. Erratic slapstick involving a shopping trolley means Arthur inadvertently robs a security guard, then continues his spree after he realises he’s due it all really and he can bail out similarly disenfranchised pals – including Simon Callow as a Welsh am-dram aficionado who gets his...

There's long been a hidden link between Hollyoaks and horror. Here are 10 actors who've made the jump from soap to gore...
Nb: This article contains spoilers.
There’s a moment in one of comedian Simon Amstell’s stand up shows where he recounts a conversation he once had with the executive producer of Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks. Trading on the commonly held opinion that Hollyoaks is “rubbish”, Amstell enquired as to why the producer didn’t try to make it better. The answer came that they did make it better, but people stopped watching.
Even by the not-so-great standards that soaps are measured, Hollyoaks has always been firmly towards the bottom of the ladder. The fictional Chester suburb where the majority of inhabitants are extraordinarily good looking but also extraordinarily stupid has been identified by its often wildly outlandish storylines and impossibly pretty people.

Nick Knowles has revealed that he would like to pursue an acting career.

Knowles added that returning to writing has encouraged him to consider acting roles.

Nick Knowles has claimed that BBC bosses "hated" Diy Sos when they watched its first series. The TV host, who has fronted the show since 1999, told This Morning that the corporation's chiefs were reluctant to broadcast the programme after seeing its six-episode debut run. Speaking of Sos's early days, Knowles explained: "We first started 11 years ago and I had a chat with the boys and I said, 'We're not going to get another series out of this'.
