Because of this film DHARMENDRA received World Iron Man Award.
While Dharmendra's short skirts that displayed his brawny thighs and underwear got him some criticism the movie re-established him as a macho-romantic hero.
The film was a huge blockbuster and ran for 50+ weeks at the Indian theatres becoming the second biggest hit of the year and the 6th biggest grosser of the 1970s decade.
This marked the first time Dharmendra and Zeenat Aman were paired opposite each other (They had earlier appeared together in the 1973 box office hit "Yadoon Ki Baraat", but not as the romantic leads). Their pairing proved to be so successful that producers went on to repeat them as romantic leads in several films from then on (Shalimar 1978, Ram-Balram 1980, Kaatilon Ke Kaatil 1981, Teesri ankh 1982, Jagir 1984 amongst a host of others).
Bobby Deol made an appearance in a scene as a younger version of Dharmendra's character. He was 9 years old during the film's production.
