Nickelodeon‘s original Rugrats puts a spotlight on the babies’ adventures, which frequently sends the parents into an absolute panic. However, the series interweaves other aspects of their lives, incorporating other family and career stresses. They juggle multiple priorities at once, consistently leaving the babies alone to go on their adventures. Here’s a look at what each of the parents from Rugrats does for work.

With movie theaters fully back up and running, HBO Max no longer has any major film releases to point to with its list of new releases for May 2022. That’s alright though as the streamer is leaning into the HBO side of its branding to offer up some fun TV releases.
The biggest HBO Max original this month is undoubtedly the return of Hacks on May 12. The first season of this comedy starred Jean Smart as a venerated Vegas comedy and Hannah Einbinder as her new millennial assistant. The first batch of episodes was excellent and even won an Emmy or two for its troubles and now season 2 will look to keep up the good vibes.
Premiering on May 15, is The Time Traveler’s Wife. This series adaptation of the 2003 novel (which in turn became a a 2009 movie) keeps up with two star-crossed lovers who can never quite make the timing work…...

Paramount is putting its Rugrats movie in timeout. The studio said today that it has pulled the Nick TV adaptation from its schedule after originally setting a January 29, 2021, release date.
Taking over that weekend slot is Rumble, the toon from Paramount Animation and WWE Studios that is set in a world where monster wrestling is a global sport and monsters are superstar athletes. Will Arnett, Terry Crews, Geraldine Viswanathan and WWE stars Becky Lynch and Roman Reigns lead the voice cast for Rumble, which moves back six months from its planned July 31, 2020, date.
Rugrats was announced in July 2018 as a live-action pic with CGI characters as part of a franchise revival that also includes a new Nick TV series. Paramount, which didn’t cite a reason for grounding the film, released three Rugrats features in the late 1990s and early 2000s: The Rugrats Movie (1998), Rugrats in Paris: The Movie (2000) and...

A fire broke out on the roof of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris Sunday. Shortly thereafter, the flames caused the spire to collapse and spread to one of its landmark tower. The cathedral spokesman shared the heartbreaking news: “Everything is burning, nothing will remain from the frame.”
The 850-year-old cathedral is a landmark in history and on celluloid. It’s the primary backdrop for the classic 1939 film “The Hunchback of Notre-Dame,” as well as Disney’s 1996 animated feature remake. It has also appeared in the Oscar-nominated “Midnight in Paris” and 2004’s “Van Helsing.”
Here is a list of films either set or shot at the famed Cathedral.

Chicago – In one of the most natural pieces of voice casting in cartoon history, Alec Baldwin portrays the title character in Dreamworks Animation’s “The Boss Baby.” The director is animation veteran Tom McGrath (“Madagascar”), and the producer is Ramsey Ann Naito, and they were both in Chicago to promote the film.
“The Boss Baby” is fast, loose, funny and full of heart. Based on a children’s book by Marla Frazee, the animated version combines baby brother jealousy with Mad Men-era business self help, in a crazy visual landscape. Alec Baldwin is at his “30 Rock” best as the Boss Baby, delivering lines like the parody of his famous movie quote, “cookies are for closers.” There are many layers in the film, but mostly it is a hilarious metaphor on how families adjust when new siblings are added to the mix.

Here are a bunch of little bites to satisfy your hunger for movie culture: Supercut of the Day: Fandor pays tribute to film fathers, including characters from The Incredibles, The Sound of Music, There Will Be Blood, The Tree of Life and of course Star Wars, in this lengthy video: Trailer Mix of the Day: Jurassic World would have been a lot better with more cartoon babies. Here's the Jurassic Park sequel mashed with Rugrats in Paris (via The Trailer Mash): Movie Parody of the Day: Technically this video doesn't seem to have any tie to Jurassic World, but a sequel where dinosaurs are pets has been proposed so here's what that might look like (via World Wide Interweb): Vintage Image of the Day: Gena Rowlands turns...

The writers of The Smurfs movies have been hired to script Enchanted 2...
News
We figured this one was long dead, but it seems as though Disney has just decided to breathe fresh life into the sequel to the wonderful Enchanted.
The first movie was released back in 2007, and starred Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey and James Marsden. Which of those will be returning is unclear, but we at least now know that a pair of writers have been assigned the long-mooted Enchanted 2 job. The writers concerned are J David Stern and David N Weiss, the pair who wrote the scripts to the two Smurfs movies so far. They also wrote, er, Daddy Day Camp (that'd be the sequel, with Cuba Gooding Jr). On the upside, they also penned the excellent Rugrats In Paris.
Anne Fletcher, who helmed The Guilt Trip and The Proposal, was linked some time ago with directing Enchanted 2,...

From Japanese anime to Disney via stop-motion, here are 18 animated films that are mystifyingly unavailable on Blu-ray...
Not all movies need to be seen in HD, but if there's one type of filmmaking that regularly benefits from the Blu-ray format, it's animation. Let us cite one example at random: My Neighbour Totoro. Until fairly recently, the only copy we had on the shelf was an early, imported version on DVD, which was grainy and a little washed-out.
When Studio Canal issued Totoro on Blu-ray in 2012, the difference in image quality was little short of a revelation: Hayao Miyazaki's colours and fluid lines positively shimmered. In short, it was like seeing this fresh, sun-drenched film again for the first time.
The same could be said for so many other animated films, no matter what country they come from: in high-definition, we can truly...

Our series of lists devoted to underappreciated films brings us to the year 2000, and another 25 overlooked gems...
The new millennium brought with it an eclectic range of hit films. Hong Kong action director John Woo brought us Mission: Impossible II, the most profitable film of the year at the box office. Ridley Scott enjoyed one of the biggest critical and financial successes of his career with Gladiator, while Robert Zemeckis created a memorable drama with Tom Hanks and a ball named Wilson in Cast Away.
From a comic book movie standpoint, 2000 was also a key year. X-Men not only established a successful film franchise which is still going, with X-Men: Days Of Future Past out next year, but also headed up a wave of big-budget Marvel adaptations which shows no sign of slowing down.

It’s funny how sometimes the worst things in life make the best people. I spent most of my life growing up in a very religious based household. The values of the Bible were very well practiced within the walls of the place which I called home. Or so I thought. It was revealed to both me and my younger sister when we were 16 and 13 that my father had become a drug addict. He had used the drug for the same reason he had become a mild alcoholic when he first met my mother. He was trying to escape the realty he had repressed from a young age. He managed to overcome his addiction through counseling sessions, the help of my mother and honestly facing the reality that plagued him for years. His plague was this terrible thing and now he is alive and has become one of the best...

Democracy is a flawed concept. Here are 50 films that the IMDb voters would unfairly have you believe are worth no more than 5.9/10…
Six out of ten isn’t a very good score, really. It’s barely over half marks. 60 per cent. It’s alright, but it’s not great. You wouldn’t be proud of getting six out of ten on most kinds of tests, would you? So you might assume that any film that scores under six stars out of ten on the IMDb isn’t very good – possibly even terrible.
But that’s not always the case. Averages don’t tell the whole story; anything that’s potentially controversial or divisive will end up with a score that suggests most people weren’t that bothered about it, since high and low scores will be averaged – and IMDb users often exaggerate their scores anyway, giving a film one star...

Paramount executive Tom Boland is leaving the studio to set sail as an independent producer. Together with his sibling Jennifer Uteda, Boland is launching Cascade Releasing with a focus on family-oriented productions, both for the big screen and the home entertainment market. Capitalizing on Uteda's existing shingle Reel Pictures, which specializes in marketing and advertising, Cascade plans to later expand into acquisitions. Development financing for the new venture will come initially through Reel Pictures, with that entity remaining a stand-alone company for the meantime. Cascade will assemble financing for projects on a package-by-package basis. During his extended run at Paramount, Boland worked on a number of family-oriented projects, including Rugrats in Paris, Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius and Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. Other projects he worked on included The Core. Boland most recently was vp creative affairs at Paramount's motion picture department. His departure date has yet to be determined, but he is expected to leave by the end of the summer.

John Cleese and Tim Curry have joined the voice cast of Vanguard Animation's comedy feature film Valiant. Shrek's John H. Williams is producing, while Gary Chapman is directing. The animated comedy, in production, tells the story of a lowly wood pigeon named Valiant, who overcomes his small size to become a hero in Great Britain's Royal Air Force Homing Pigeon Service during World War II. Cleese plays an Allied pigeon who gets trapped behind enemy lines, while Curry is devoted to the pigeons' destruction as part of the enemy's Falcon Brigade. The production already boasts the voice talents of Ewan McGregor, Ben Kingsley, Jim Broadbent, Rupert Everett, Hugh Laurie, John Hurt and Ricky Gervais. The Walt Disney Co.'s Buena Vista is distributing the picture in North America, while Odyssey Entertainment in the United Kingdom is handling international distribution. Cleese, repped by CAA, is no stranger to animated voice work, having recently lent his voice to Shrek 2. Curry, repped by Innovative Artists, has recently been part of the voice casts of Rugrats Go Wild!, The Wild Thornberrys Movie and Rugrats in Paris.

MEXICO CITY -- Alejandro Gonzalez Innaritu's 21 Grams topped Mexico's weekend boxoffice charts, taking in 15 million pesos ($1.3 million), a particularly strong outing considering the picture was released on only 251 screens nationwide. 21 Grams, released in Mexico under distributor United International Pictures, is the Mexican director's second feature-length film and his first English-language production. Freaky Friday, released with 330 copies, grossed 9.1 million pesos ($805,000), while Matrix Revolutions ranked third in weekend boxoffice receipts with $5.6 million pesos ($496,000). The biggest surprise came from homegrown animated production Magos y Gigantes. Released on 280 screens, the Anima Estudios toon grossed 5.3 million pesos ($496,000).
