Sex & Nudity

  • In one cutscene, Klaymen is in so-called Mush Room, there are some sheep-turtle creatures under it. They are eating, bleating and defecating. After one of them gets crushed, another one vomits.
  • Nothing too serious tough, given that there are only male characters in the game.

Violence & Gore

  • As mentioned above, one of the creatures resembling a turtle and a sheep is crushed by a Mush Room. Then other of these creatures are crushed by a car and the Big Robot Bil's teddy bear.
  • At the beginning of the game, Klaymen is swallowed by a plant resembling a Venus Flytrap. This is repeated at the end of the game, in Klogg's castle. In both cases, Klaymen is spitted.
  • One of the monsters at the beginning of the game, reminiscent of a big green crab (officially called "Weasel"), wants to devour Klaymen. However, he gives him imitation of him made from dynamite, which blows him up.
  • At some point, Klaymen's hand is hit with a hammer. He then falls to the underground.
  • In one of the buildings, the mouse and cheese, and then the projector, are sucked in by the huge vacuum cleaner. Nothing is wrong with them, they land safely in the castle.
  • At some point, Willie Trombone throws a flower pot on Klaymen's head. Nothing, however, does not happen to him except for the fact that he is slightly stunned.
  • There is no blood in any case.

Profanity

  • There is nothing serious here, as in the game there is not many words.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • After being shrunk, Klaymen must drink potion to come back to his regular size.
  • There is nothing serious in the game, though.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The entire game is set in titular surreal world The Neverhood. It is inhabited by various monsters and has mysterious ambients, which can be a bit unnerving. Some of the monsters can be a bit scary too.
  • The main antagonist, Klogg, can be a bit creepy for younger players, because of his appearance and voice.
  • The Neverhood Inc. logo, where is shown caricatures of the team and is heard Klogg's laugh, can be a bit scary for younger players. However, that was changed in PSX version of the game, released only in Japan.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • Before entering the castle, Klaymen uses a cannon to smash Big Robot Bil's head. However, after being repaired by Klaymen, Robot is functioning well.
  • In the longest cutscene in the game, there is a fight between Robot Bil and the so-called. Clockwork Beast. After a few beats, the Beast notices Bil's teddy bear, which he destroys by tearing his head. Before that, however, he sends a special squad, whose higher member hits the lower's head. After the bear is destroyed, Bil is furious and attacks the Beast, which bites him in the head. Klaymen uses the "Jump from the hole" option and Bil repels the Beast into a bottomless abyss. After a while he opens the gate to castle for Klaymen. Klogg notices this and launches a cannon that pierces Bil's chest with a ball. Bil and Willie fall into pit, and Klaymen enters the castle at the last moment.
  • In the aforementioned cutscene, before Klogg sends the Beast, Willie is attacked by a smaller purple version of the green monster mentioned above. Klaymen notices this and makes Bil smash the monster on the guts and the green substance.
  • The main villain of the game, Klogg, persuades Klaymen to wear the crown.
  • After putting on the crown, Klaymen turns into Kloggmen and knocks out Klogg. He then lies still on the floor. (bad ending)
  • After putting the crown on Hoborg, the creator and king of the titular land, The Neverhood, Klogg wants to kill both of them with a damaged dagger, but he presses button to the cannon which rejects him from the castle to the abyss. (good ending)

Profanity

  • Moment before Klogg is rejected from the castle by a cannon ball, he screams "Son of a..." which could be understood as "Son of a B&%ch", however he is cut and as he falls he just screams "NOOOOOOOOO!!!".

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • In the cutscene of Big Robot Bil's fight, there is a close up of Clockwork Beast's special squad's car, as one of the members presses the pedal. There is seen smoked up cigarette.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The bad ending (after putting crown on Klaymen) can be really scary, showing evil Klaymen laughing into the screen.
  • A cutscene telling the game's plot, which can be seen after collecting all of 20 disks, can be a bit unnerving. First of all, it tells how Klogg became the main antagonist - by putting Hoborg's crown. Transformation sequence can be a little scary, showed in lighting bolts.
